    Valerie,

That's cute that your SR would score the 5 for a candy bar!!  Whatever motivates them, ehhh??!

Your SRs' moods will go up and down during Boot Camp, just like all of you, but it will get better and better!

  • diannep

So encouraging, Valerie.  So happy for you and your SR!

  • Renee

Coachjb, not sure how many of the recruits they got, but it does look like they tried to get as many as they could.

  • coachjb12003

I went through all of the RTC photos, and couldn't find one of my SR, so here is one I took of her and her brother at his PIR two years ago.  He is now a Petty Officer 2nd class and is home today.  I'm a lucky mom.

  • Mrsjeni

    Yes you are!!
  • Vickie360

Just got a call- div 78
  • Reana

I got one too around the same time! Oh my goodness, I thought we weren't going to get one today! God is good!
  • StrongLady

For those who have already booked hotels. What are good ones to consider that are close to base and not too expensive? Any suggestions?
  • CatMom509

    StrongLady,

If your SR will be flying out to A school, you can stay at the Navy Lodge, which is about $66/$71 a room--very clean!  (If your SR has A school at Great Lakes, the Navy seems to be not allowing them to visit their families in their rooms.

The other recommended hotels are Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites, and Courtyard Marriot, all in the Waukegan/Gurnee area, about 10 mins from Recruit Training Command (RTC).  Sarge's Meet & Greet, a Super Walmart, and various eating places are all in this same area~

  • diannep

Yes. Navy Lodge has been very iffy lately with those sailors staying in GL for A School.    Sometimes they are allowed to visit families in Navy Lodge, sometimes not.  We just want all who have sailors staying in GL for A School to be aware of this possibility.  You will not know until after PIR when your sailors move over there and tell you if they can visit you at Navy Lodge.  It doesn't seem to happen at every PIR....just sometimes.  Seems that those flying out do not have a problem visiting families in Navy Lodge....they are still under the authority of RTC, not GL A School.

    Good Morning!

  • CatMom509

    Happy Friday!

"For God so loved the world that He

gave His only begotten Son, that

whosoever believeth in Him shall not

          perish, but have everlasting life."

                                                   John 3:16

  • diannep

    Good Morning!

  • Mrsjeni

And good morning to all of you wonderful ladies!
  • coachjb12003

And good mourning to all of you also
  • CatMom509

    Hello All!

"My words are plain to anyone with understanding,

          clear to those with knowledge."

                                                                  Proverbs 8:9

  • Vickie360

Cross off another Friday!!! 4 down and 5 to go- almost half way there!!!!!
  • coachjb12003

I wondering if anyone can tell me how long do Sailors have after the graduation before the ship out and are the allowed off the base
  • Reana

    Got another phone call! Yay!
  • fanofsteel

I just got a phone call too! They must all be at the NEX together.

coachjb:  If moving over to GL for A School, they do this right after PIR is over, takes a few hours, and then they have Liberty with you until later that night, and Daytime Liberty with you Sat and Sun as well.

If flying out, they most likely will be flying out the day after PIR, bussed late that night to the airports.  You can meet them there and visit with them, bring ID and you can get an airlines gate pass to wait until departure.  They won't know their flights until right before PIR.

  • diannep

*bussed late that night meaning PIR night

  • diannep

    You are very welcome, Q'smomKim!

    Good Morning!

  • coachjb12003

Thanks diannep for the infor I don't no who else is planning to go so just in case I wanted to make sure I can see her
  • coachjb12003

What are the difference in Gl Schools I am sorry to sound like I don't no but I don't no I never went through this before my Grandaughter will be going to school for Criminal Justice will they pick her location or do she have options
  • MTRanchMom

When my son flew out to A school we met him at 6 am at the airport in order to get gate pass.  There was a rule that you had to have your sailor with you inorder to get one, but I don't know if that is still an issue.  I'm still planning on getting there at dark thirty just to be safe.  I miss my girl.

  • MTRanchMom

I also got a call this morning.  She earned 50 out of 50 on her test, so she could call us for 15 minutes.  She sounds happy and healthy.  Just tired.

  • coachjb12003

Thanks that's good to no but who choose the school
  • MTRanchMom

Where you go to A School depends on what job you are going into.  What is your SR's job, Coachjb?

  • coachjb12003

You no that's a good question she is in the legal field and she is going to school to finish her criminal justice so I don't no yet
