You never know Joyce........ I have family In Phoenix area and my sister is in Yuma....... and my son is on the USS Tucson, he went to Tucson last year for some event. He had a great time. They took some of the boy scout hiking and he visited schools and read to the kids...........they also ran into a bridal party and they all got up on stage and sang to the bride-to-be (The pics were great).........so it was a great well Rounded trip........if he goes again I'm going to meet him down there. So we'll have to get together........
I have some very good news. We listed our house for sale on Friday morning and received an offer this afternoon. We went to contract a few hours ago. Now we need to find a place to buy ourselves. It will be 6 weeks to closing on this house, so I'll be house hunting for the next couple of weeks. I don't mind being house-less, I just don't want to be home-less. Now all I need to do is break the news to my sailor in Groton.
We are looking for a house in Cranberry,PA. In fact we are headed that way tomorrow afternoon. We need to find something very soon because the people buying our house want to close in 6 weeks. It is going to be a very busy few weeks.
I"m trying to draw one up too.....turning 50 my sons are old enough for me to get one honoring them ...........since my oldest is on a sub and loving snorkeling/diving and my youngest loves golf and percussion.......
I'm thinking about a dolphin wearing snorkeling gear playing the drums with golf clubs......
my friends think I'm crazy..............but they always have
HEY Terri..............I figured out a way to get that box I needed to ship you afghans.....I ordered a box of yarn........this will work out good...........lol...really though I should have a box on its way to you tomorrow or do you want me to wait .....when are you shipping out to the Mason?
Hi Peggy she does have a paypal account I bumped it up and is the top discussion she does need a warehouse......I think I'll wait to ship mine for the Tenn....
Terri is going to shipping the boxes to the ship all at one time. She does have our address posted and a paypal link if some wants to help out with shipping.
Also for those that have not seen it. We have posted a flyer in a discussion that you can print if you'd like to hang up ( I'm also planning on using to get some cans in stores to maybe get donations) . I'm not sure what type of address Terri is using to get them to the ship. I know she was working with the Mason directly.
Terri, I'm mailing off a box of blankets today. I now know how you feel with all those boxes. I'm now up to my ears in boxes trying to get the house packed up so we can be out of here by the end of the month. BTW, there is an a check taped to the bag to help with the shipping.
I have some great news. We sold our home in 24 hours and we were really worried about finding another house before we had to move out of this one. We found a great townhouse last weekend. The seller has excepted our offer and we move in on April 14th.
We were a bit in shock when the sale happened so fast. The townhouse we bought had only been on the market for a week. Houses here are moving quickly. I think that is probably because there are very few foreclosures here. Pittsburgh is a center a stability. Our houses never went up in value like in other areas, so very few people here got in over their heads. I'm so looking forward to getting my sewingroom back.
Debbie I can open it ......but is that the logo on top .............that little bugger gave me a run for my money too when I was doing the flyer
Terri I'm wondering if you can get the logo sent to you in a different format. I'd love to have a new copy for this little letter I'm working on......
thanks dear
just got back from the post office and wanted to share with everyone..............the mail rate is going up on May 11th, but the post office is selling what they call forever stamps and if you buy them before the 11th then you won't have to add postage to your stamps when they raise the rates.............
Terri did you decided to send stamped envelopes with the blankets in case they want to send a thank you ????
Hear's a chuckle to get the ol'knitting needles clicking......
A wealthy old Gentleman decides to go on a hunting safari in Africa , taking his faithful, elderly Jack Russell named Killer, along for the company.
One day the old Jack Russell starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old Jack Russell thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the old Jack Russell exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?"
Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old Jack Russell nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old Jack Russell sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up.
The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.
The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!
Now, the old Jack Russell sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old Jack Russell says...
"Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!
I think the fundraiser on line is perfect (I hate shopping ) and will send out the link to my family and friends right away........
My cat does that every time I bring out the yarn ......he now has his own
Terri I promise to send this box to you very very soon
I love the on-line mall idea. For medical reasons, I have to stay out of malls as much as possible. I do a lot of shopping on line. I checked out the sight, all my favorites stores are there. I can even get some of the furniture I was looking for, for the new house.
oh Kathy how exciting !!!! I hope you have a wonderful time .....give him hugs and thanks from this mom.
As for the rest of this group........what is going on ??? Very Very quite.....everyone ok out there???
We are in the process of packing up the house. The move to our new townhouse will be on the 13th. I'm hoping to have at least two blankets to send off before I leave.
Thanks Lauren, I'm just glad that it is finally happening. We lost one house we bid on and then had long process to get a mortgage. I'm losing about 1,000 sq ft. of house space, so I had to downsize. That was really tough, but finally all behind us. Now I'm looking forward to an almost new townhouse and a chance to decorate an entirely new space. Although I lost that square footage, I still have a sewingroom. I'll be quilting before you know it.
Has anybody seen Terri..........I thought she said she had her PC fixed.....
How is everybody I haven't crocheted in 4 days Oh my I better get on the ball
Ok all my hard working friends.............I want to let everyone know that I crossed over and also belong to navy4dads ........ok big deal right!!!!
What I want to share is that we are getting together a thank you package for the USS Bainbridge letting them know how much we appreciate them and if you would like to join us with this that we'd love to have you and of course you can sign any message you send a N4M mom........lol

Terri how are we doing on #'s when is our three months up . I have about 5 blankets to send......
As much as I'm hoping you draw my son's sub next, it will be fun to be able to start using "pink' yarn again. I had bought a lot of Girlie colors the last time I ordered yarn online
Hey Terri when you are going to take the pic of your S/O just have him stand by a mirror to pull the name................"He" won't figure it out...............lol
now I have not looked into this , but I was wondering if anyone knows how to create the badges, like the navy for moms one, I was thinking that if we could create a knit for the navy one we could post it on our myspace and facebooks. Maybe we could include the paypay link or the shopping web site. Just a thought
Can you share the shopping web site again......spring is time to shop.........huggs all
Hello, I used to crochet hats for the homeless with a crochet hook but has anyone used a loom to knit hats with? Maybe it's a lazy way of crocheting/knitting but it helps with those who may have arthritis.
It's round in shape and comes several in a pkg of various sizes. I was told to look for it at Walmart since it would be cheaper there than it would be at Michael's or Tall Mouse.
I have some of those looms......I even bought a big one to make blankets it is like a S shape I don't know how to use them...I think I spent over $30.00.......LOL
HI Terri & Lauren,
Thanks, I'll let you know what I've found but I decided to join the knitting group at the local church and they meet once a month. As far as I know they have made many newborn/baby hats, hats for children with cancer, the homeless & the military. I thought I would start now for next winter to help crochet hats for our sailors and help with hats for the homeless & children with the church group. Once I get the hang of it I'd like to try making a blanket too. But that's alot of money just for the loom.
$30 was for 4 or 5 of them .it was the big one that cost the most...I would look on ebay...you might find something cheap there......heck if I don't get someone to teach how to use them I might even have a couple to get rid of......I was going to buy an electric knitting machine and the lady at hobby lobby talked me into the looms instead....i knew better ......maybe I'm check out youtube ..they might beable to teach my just like the granny square.....
I just picked up the four pack round looms for $11.97 and the rectangular ones for afghans/blankets is $19.99 and comes with the instructions & needle. Can't wait to get started!!
I used camo for one of the afghans and a pink camo for another....I liked it .......Karen can't wait to hear what you think of the looms.......I really should take the time to learn to use mine
