ALUMNI OF PIR 09/11/2015 TG 44 - 13 Divisions (299-308, 817-818 and 944)

For those who get the bad news phone call, I just found great information at http://navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/battle-stations-21.  Check it out.  It has made me feel better because it gives you a phone number to call the day before you leave to see if they passed their failed test and will be graduating.   

For those of you who are getting the "I did not pass PFA...don't come..."calls, your recruits still have a chance to pass their PFA, then pass Battlestations and graduate on time. 

They will go to the FIT division where they will focus on passing there PFA.

They will be allowed to test every other day so (Monday and Wednesday).

If they pass one of those days then they will participate in Battlestations with the Divisions that are going through the next night (Tuesday and Thursday respectively).

If they go through on Thursday they most likely will not march in with their division on Friday at PIR, BUT will sit in the stands...too tired to go through PIR.

Recruits are required to call home if their is a change in sthi status (hence the first call because they are no longer on track to graduate.) Once their status changes back to "graduating" then they are supposed to be granted another call to let you know.This usually does happen but sometimes in the hustle and bustle of moving the recruit around and getting things back on track, that call has not happened :-(. They're just very focused on getting your recruit to Sailor status.

If your Recruit does not pass before their PIR they will stay in FIT division. They usually get 10-12 tries to pass their PFA. Once they do they go through Battlestations (they just fit them into whichever is going through) and then go on to A school. No PIR.

If they cannot pass their PFA they will be separated from the Navy.

Praying that does not happen, praying for all those in FIT, praying for all those who will be doing Battlestations and praying that all will have a great time with Captains Cup tomorrow.

Anna- My son is staying in Great Lakes for A school and he asked us to bring him some clothes. He sent home a list of what he wants. They do not have a lot of room for storage. 

Brooke:  Only 3 guests per sailor allowed because there are 13 divisions in this PIR group.  12 divisions and lower=4 guests; 13 divisons and higher=3 guests.

Anna:  Yes, for those sailors staying in GL for A School...you can bring their personal items, including clothing.  For those flying out, you can bring a few personal items, whatever will fit into their Navy backpack.  You can always mail the rest to them if needed.  None of them can wear civilian clothes until they phase up which can take 2-3 weeks.  The GL sailors can return from Liberty with their personal items; those flying out will receive them from you at the airports.

HooyahWife:  I believe your SR was given inaccurate info.  RTC has not changed the number of guests from 3 on its graduation page.  We have never seen them revise this once the number of divisions has been set in a PIR group.  And I have been on these groups for 5.5 yrs!

Just a reminder that I'm a Sailor calls will not come in until at least 2pm Central on the day a division finishes (12 hr overnight drill).  There are none tonight or tomorrow night.  It is possible they will resume on Sun night....not sure.

You know, I know RTC is trying to help by saying recruits have upuntil two days to make changes to their Access lists...but HOW is the family supposed to know who they have added on such short notice?

What diannep posted about guests is exactly what RTC has on their FB page and RTC website.

We have had this happen before...recruits writing and saying that the number of guests has changed. 

We here of course are not the authority, and we go by what RTC does...so I always suggest emailing RTC to let them know this is happening and find out what is going on.

My comments were not directed at anyone personally. This was the first time I read the two day thing on RTC FB on their timeline ( as far as I know it is not on their website or on the FB Notes page). Like we all know things change and it is hard to keep up sometimes. That's the military ;-)

We just don't want anyone to be disappointed or for there to be more confusion...so it is good to contact PAO and let them know this is happening.

Usually, in addition to what's posted in writing your Recruit/Sailor is your best source of info...BUT upon occasion recruits have been given misinformation :-(

Me personally, I would verify it with "the powers that be" because that's just me ;-) 

As I ponder ( can you hear my wheels tuurning? ) the "two day notice thingie" I can see why it is in place because folks are permitted extra guests for the overflow in the Chapel (which is a fairly recent occurance as well), so maybe someone who was going to go over there would now have a chance to go into Midway Hall for the ceremony.

(Sidebar - I just read that if Guests are running late and get there past 9:15 they won't allow them into the ceremony. They will be directed to the Chapel.)

Ladies, sorry, sounds like some misinformation from an RDC in Div 306.  The only way this would happen is if they dropped an entire division from this PIR group.  That has never happened nor is likely to happen.  RTC still lists 3 guests on their official site.  They are going by their own rules (read the top of the RTC gradutaion page as far as number of guests).  You can bring your extra guest, but that person needs to be prepared to possibly get into the Chapel for the Livestream (sometimes for large PIR groups like this, they will reserve that for overflow of approved guests....so know this may not be an option)....or....they will not be admitted on base.

Like I stated before...your Recruits are usually your best source of info...IF they are fed the correct info.

They can be given misinformation. How do I know this? I have seen it on here and it happened to me personally. I (we, it affected our division) was given the incorrect PIR date on our form letters. ALL of the recruits had to call home. By the time they called we already knew because RTC website had a different date and we had contacted RTC.
