SMW729:  Absolutely, it will get better for him....so keep the faith!  Still in the early stages which is a challenge.

    Good Morning All !

Ange80:  I agree with CatMom.  We have all of the form letter info on this site.  In fact, I will post a link to it in a moment.  You just need that password.  I assume you have the mailing address since you received a letter from your SR, right?  Did your SR give you ship/division numbers?  If not, the recruiter has these.

Suggested hotels from others on here are:

Navy Lodge (book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID yourself)

Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express....all about 4-5 miles from RTC, near Sarges MeetandGreet held for you all the night before PIR.  Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.

  • diannep

mommacnavy: Hang in there.....it is so emotionally up and down for them and for you too!  It DOES get better and will be worth it all at PIR!  So keep your eyes on the prize!

  • mommacnavy

Thanks diannep...I'm usually so positive! Hearing he was that sick just got the best of me :(. But... Great news! We got a call! Div 369! Sounds like 369 & 370 are both getting calls this morning! 6:23am Pacific time! Best way to be woken up on a Saturday. He ended up SIQ for 3 days last weekend with that flu, but he is better now. Just a cough that a lot of them have from the peanut butter shot now. I feel so much better after talking to him and hearing his voice :)
  • mommacnavy

SMW729...I love how you put that, everyday life people just don't understand how difficult this is. It's so true! We all need each other on here! Thanks everyone!!
  • Angee80

Thank you everyone for the great advice. My minds at ease now. That letter was worring me.
  • TheRocksmom

Hello everyone, first to the moms who's sons RPO, this is awesome! I was feeling down this past week ups and downs so true, this morning for call which  made my day, no letter tho, only the first one. He tells me that. Although they can write any night he is so exhausted by the end of day, that he just wants to sleep,  he was afraid he wouldn't be able to call because he has guard duty. So for the moms that didn't get calls today its more aweful for your son\daughters so ALOT iof frustration going on. They r so busy with inspection coming up, he tells m during PT they finally got to hear music, although from the 80's it made a difference! They played thrillwer from Michael Jackson and the son from Frozen, lol of course I broke out and started singing "let it go let it go" lol also telling me they coming together as team, which is the best news I heard. It's gotta be frustrating for all of them dealing with different personalities, backgrounds etc of the SRs they r with. I told him this morning that remember you and others chose to be there and that fo some, its the only choice they had. I have been putting extra letter of recruits that do not have support of anyone there. I encourged him to lead by example. This is path that leads to noble and honorable things and a life which is lead with integrity! There is nothing personally that I could ask for more.. I am sorry for being long winded here but I just had to get it out! I am keeping my eye on the day we all watch our children/grandchildren March into that auditorium! Every night I light that blue candle look to the stars and pray for our kids and us moms here! Don't ever loose hope the best is yet to come‼♥

  • TheRocksmom

Please excuse my typing mistakes. Have a great weekend, we are almost there.

  • My Sailor daughter

I'm glad you spoke to your son TheRocksmom and we're able to share a laugh. You are right it's gotta be hard on them to not to be able to call, I just try to remind myself no call is good news.. Don't get me wrong it's easier said then done. I'm hoping DIV 373 gets a chance tomorrow to call. I'm wondering how's her testing going. You know it's true also some of them don't have any support its so sad. The day of my daughters initiation there were 16 of them and only 15 family/friends in the waiting room. 8 of them was for my daughter only. As I looked around I saw other young boy and girl by themselves it broke my heart to see that. All I can remember was what my sister in law family friend said to me in the summer. She told me I don't know how you can do it, because a year ago my son told me he was thinking of joining the Army. I told him Oh no your not! If you do she would disown him! I couldn't believe she said that to me.. My face was is displayed believe!! I took a deep breathe before I would say something un appropriate. Then said Well as for me I'm over proud of my daughters decision! That not an easy task! Yes, I going to miss like hell, but I've raised my kids telling them I will always support them in what they choose to be. If your worries is something happening to may God bless my daughter and everyone that choose to do that, because now a days you are not safe anywhere. Maybe you should watch the news more and walked away. People can be so ignorant!! Sorry for this long message also but reading your message about the SR with no support reminded me of her... SMH!!
  • TheRocksmom

My sailors daughter; you might want to consider anddin a letter also my son tells me they get mail before they go to bed and how sad for ones that don't get any, " they haven't anything to go to sleep with" it is heartbreaking. Mimi so glad you got the call! Yes I hear that the haircuts well lets says nnot like going to the salon, that a for sure! Time to light the candle, so grateful for this site, can't imàgine the state we all would be if we didn't have it. We're almost there. I can't wait.

  • diannep

My sailor daughter:  My son would have been one with not one there at MEPS before leaving for GL.  But that was HIS choice, not mine.  He was 23 and wanted to say his goodbyes the night before at the hotel.  Soooo....maybe some of those you saw actually had support, but preferred that they not be there at MEPS because it may have been too hard to say goodbye?

  • diannep

    *one with NO one there

  • My Sailor daughter

TheRocksmom that's not a bad idea. How do I can I that? Diannep ur absolutely right it could be that. It's just what that lady said to me that made that cross my mind. It surely was hard to watch them wall away.
  • bpickship14div074

to angie80: I never received a form letter from my son. I think he either told me the password over the phone or by mail. Also if you take he shuttle service you won't need the password as that info I think is only if you drive into the lot. I think it just has your parking pass from what I remember before. So if y never get it, just take the shuttle
  • mommacnavy

My Sailor daughter & diannep - my niece went to MEPS & on to boot camp a few years ago... her dad, mom & sister were all at the hotel and planning to go to MEPS for the swear-in, but they were all such a mess that my niece told them she doesn't want to cause that much of a scene & they shouldn't come. At least her grandpa lived kind of close and was able to get over there to take pictures of it to give to them.  But, for a lot of the morning it probably looked like she had no support at all.  Not saying there aren't recruits without support, but just putting your mind at ease that it probably isn't as many as it looked!  I'm just glad my son believed me when I promised I would hold out on crying until we left :)  I only cried a little bit at MEPS...

  • Amazing4

My Son asked us not to go to MEPS. It broke my heart. But I honored his wishes. With a lot of tears we said our goodbyes the night before. In the end... it was best for all of us.
  • My Sailor daughter

I'm sorry if I offended anyone in what I said earlier. My intentions were not for that. I know it's not easy saying bye to them, cause I myself wasn't sure how I react. Then remembering what that lady told me, she said to her son made me feel worst. Thank you everyone because if it wasn't for all of you mom's I would of been worst. Being on here helps so much cause I know that I'm not alone and either are our kids.
  • TraG151

You all are amazing.. Still have not got a call from my boy. I hope soon though! I would really like to hear his voice. My Sailor daughter I don't think you did. Everyone has to deal with things different and that's ok. I stayed the night in the hotel with all my kids so they spent time with him and went swimming and stuff went to MEPS and went to the airport. It was really hard! He would say things like I think it would be easier if you were not here so I would ask him if he wanted us to go. I just wanted him to be comfortable. And of course he didn't want us to. He is the one who planned the whole thing out so I was just following orders. Lol! But it was hard! But I wouldn't have changed it for the world! We as a family have been through so much we are all so close. It was for sure hard saying good bye but I told him it's never good bye it's until we see each other again! Oh how I miss him!
  • TheRocksmom

My Sailors daughter no offense taken here.  I just put letter in with son and asked him to give to recruit that didn't receive one.   In case not everyone knows, DIV 370 got the scholastic flag, not completely know what that means? Diannep do u know?  I saw post oon fb about it, took me awhile to navigate to find, not great with social media. The closer PIR comes the slower my days are going. Also I read about meet and greet that centerpieces are sometimes made for division by moms. I have some nice ones that I made for sons going away party, I will bring with me. TraG151 if he was one that got sick or had wisdom teeth pulled he may like I said before playing catch up and now if he is better he may have got guard duty on the times they were given to call. Hang in there,, remember No Call is a good call! I know sounds aweful, but its true.

  • Amazing4

My Sailors Daughter, no offence taken here. I remember at his Swear In. My husband and I were the only ones there and 22 new recruits. We did walk away from there thinking "Wow, hopefully these kids have some support somewhere". As for the person that made a very dumb comment... I like to give gentle reminders. "It is because of so many people like my son.. that gives you the freedom to do what you do. If you cannot be supportive, it is best to say nothing at all"
  • diannep

The other thing that happens if you do not have the gate pass for PIR is that when you return your sailor to RTC that night, I don't think you can drive on base.  Your sailor will have to walk from the gate, but that is no big deal....good exercise!    :-)

My Sailor Daughter:  Don't think anyone was offended by what you posted.  Just wanted you to know that it wasn't quite as bad as it seemed!  Nice to know that more than you thought will have support during Bootcamp!

  • diannep

For those who did not receive the form letter for whatever reason, just write or ask your SR during a call for the password to be used to download the gate pass 11 days before PIR..  Since your SR wrote it in, he/she should know it.

    Good Afternoon!

  • My Sailor daughter

Amazing04 well said.. Is there password the same regsrdless. When my daughter started I recieved the letter with her info & pw. Then the day she called me telling her graduation day was pushed down she said I would recieve her new info. I never got that. I know her new DIV # because she wrote to her grandma. Should I call n who?
  • mommacnavy

    Amazing04- AMEN!

My Sailor daughter- I agree, no offense at all!  I just wanted you to be assured that it probably isn't as bad as it seemed to you also :)  On the same note, there really are some not getting a lot of support, so YES to extra letters to those SR's! I honestly can't believe what the lady said to you last summer... ignorant is right!

TraG151- HANG IN THERE!  I'm so sorry your SR hasn't called.  Praying you will get a call soon and hear his voice!!

  • TheRocksmom

Just wanted to let any moms staying at Navy Lodge who wanted to bring family pet, I gave up family suite pet Friendly room, son going be disappointed but Princess Bella Luna only 5 months old . I'm afraid flight may be to stressful. I will be nervous wreck as it is. Also Navy Lodge has shuttle to PIR for 2 dollars, starting at 6am, only 1 mile from base!

  • TheRocksmom

diannep, thanks you always have the info we want or need. Now just going drive cause wanna spend every last second with him. It was hard enough leaving him at hotel doorif I have to watch him walk away from the gate....  I'm having ALOT of anxiety, over this whole experience, will it ever go away?????? Just saying..

  • diannep

The Rocksmom:  The anxiety will disappear on the morning of 11/06!

  • diannep

My Sailor daughter:  Email RTC (email address in your form letter).  Tell them that your daughter was setback and you need new password info.  You will need to give them her original info:  PIR date, ship/division number, name, and the password she gave you.  They will then email you back with the new info.

  • My Sailor daughter

Thank you, I'm going to do that right now.
  • diannep

    Good Morning!

  • Mandimae83

I just wanted to say out children are in good hands! We live in the area where all the flooding is taking place! Yesterday my son's Petty Officer allowed him to call home and check to make sure we were OK! That says alot about the people that are forming our children! I pray for our children everyday, and that reassured me my son is where God wants him to be and has his hand on him!
  • Terri

    Found it, thanks so much!!!

  • diannep

Mandimae:  They are very good about letting the SRs call when there are natural disasters going on close to their families.  I hope you all are ok!  My mom and her friend are trying to get up to Boone NC....she was to fly yesterday, but thanks to my sister in law who lives up there....she said do not come then!  So they are flying up in the morning.  Hoping things are better then.  I know it did your SR good to hear your voice and to know you all are ok (I hope you are!).

  • TheRocksmom

I am so glad everyone is ok, I was at the gym yesterday, and was watching Nikki Haley's breaking news, it's just aweful. I will keep you all who are down there in prayers. Also it's wonderful that they can call home, they most likely don't know that it even happened, it's got to be a hugh relief to hear them. The one thing confusing I heard from Haley's was "it's the worst flooding in 1,000 years" I wonder where that's recorded?"

  • mommacnavy

Mandimae83- glad you are all ok!  And that does say a lot about the people that are in charge of our recruits right now!  Thanks so much for sharing that news, as well as the news that you are safe!  I'm sure your son was relieved to hear you are all ok :)

  • Mandimae83

Thanks ladies, yes pretty bad here but all is good! God watched over us! Therocksmom yes I'm not quit sure where she got her info but has been a very long time since we have had this much! Lol. Thank you he sounded relieved when I answered!
  • CatMom509
