I am starting to get giddy....this time next week our countdown will be down to the teens! I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa to come :)  Can't wait to meet so many at the Meet & Greet, and most of all, can't wait for those doors to open up as our brand new Sailors march in. I get goose bumps just thinking about it!

  • CatMom509

    Hello!

"And God said, 'I will be with you.....' "

                                            Exodus 3:12a

  • CatMom509

Awww, TheRocksmom, that is really sweet of you to dedicate that scripture to diannep and me!!  I remember posting that verse just last week too~~  ((HUGS))

  • CatMom509

Happy 240th Birthday, United States Navy!!!

~~Ready Then, Ready Now, Ready Always~~

  • TheRocksmom

Diannep and Catsmom you r very welcome, I am definitely decorating the door, mommacnavy I work with a girl who breeds boxers, they r awesome dogs, animals so intune. I also am stepping up the letter writing, I can't wait to meet everyone. This journey that has begun, I'm so proud at times I feel like this is a dream, Hopefully ones that have not come onboard, will recognize that they can't do it alone, its a team effort. My candle burns for all of them and my prayers include everyone here as well. It's humbling really when I think about it that our children did not choose the easy thing to do, at young ages they choose a path of integrity, honesty and to be honorable. This is the most I could ask of my son, I can't wait for PIR and to hang on my door "bravo Zulu" I am having faith that they remain strong and healthy over the next few weeks. And can only wish I could be a fly on the wall for the capping ceremony... Can you imagine how proud they will feel? Catsmom that's an awesome cake, also now I am a Chicago fan. Lol

  • pnt

I'm disappointed that the capping ceremony is something that we don't get to see.

  • diannep

Yes, pnt.  It is a truly emotional time for the new sailors.  But private between them and their RDCs/staff.  Trading those Recruit caps for their Navy caps must be so rewarding for them.

  • Momma8480

Can't make the meet and greet :(. Flight gets in too late. Staying at candle wood suites. Thank you nukes & snipes as we are bringing his girlfriend also. Hope to run into some of my new mom friends face to face/ if anyone is in the same "boat" ;). Maybe we can post while we are there. (I will only get approx 6 hours w my sailor...). Thoughts???
  • Tierney'smom

Where can I find the "coin"? I looked on Amazon and didn't see it. I'm probably looking up the wrong thing.

  • diannep

Momma8480:  You will be sitting in your division section at PIR with some of the ladies here!   Get there early so you can meet some of them!

    Good Morning All !

  • TraG151

I can't make the meet and greet. :( I have to pick up his girlfriend from the airport.
  • KYNavyMomma

Momma8480- My husband, daughter, the GF and myself will be there...we are driving (about 6 hours) on Thursday afternoon- so definitely going to try to make the meet & greet.I found that Candlewood was cheaper than Holiday Inn and the others around.  Wish we could stay at Navy Lodge, I'm sure that's where most families will be.  We only get 6 hours or so with our Sailor also :(  He flies out to Goose Creek.  I do keep telling myself though that the cell phones will allow us to at least text and talk - which is 100 times better than the little bit of correspondence we get now.  Like Diannep said - I'm sure we will see each other Friday morning, and there will be lots of families at the airport also.

  • SMW729

I received a few letters yesterday and I got some news that has caused me to stress a little bit.  My son told me he now has to get a medical waiver to go to Pensacola because he has been treated for acne and had a cleft lip when he was born.  They had ALL of his medical records from the time he was born and we waited endlessly to get medical clearance so they could go over his file.  Now he is told that if he can't get the waiver he could be medically discharged.  So far I have not heard another word from him and the letter was from October 2, so I guess that's good news.  Please send prayers, good juju, whatever, that he gets that waiver.  Thanks.

  • mommacnavy

Oh no, TraG151, that stinks.  What time does she arrive & what airport?  I will be picking up my daughter that night at O'Hare & 10:50pm...after Meet & Greet.

pnt- I agree, it would be awesome to see, but I do agree with diannep that it's something special and positive they have with just their RDC's.  Such a bonding & pride thing for them.  At least we will get that tearfully proud phone call afterward!  Do they take pictures of that, diannep??  Now THAT would be pretty cool to see since we can't be there!

SMW729- what the heck?!  I don't understand that either... why did they go through all that to medically clear him before they even let him go to Boot Camp then?  Well I will be praying that all is well and he gets his waiver (again)!!

  • TraG151

She flies in at 8:15 at Midway.
  • TraG151

SMW729 I hope they get that all worked out. I hope they don't do that to my son that had a compound fracture of his arm and has some metal in it. For them to work this hard and not get there because of things that we already for waivers for would be terrible.
  • mommacnavy

TraG151- dang, right in the middle of it...

  • diannep

mommacnavy:  Piks of the capping ceremony are very special....and there are very few of them.  I remember a couple of times, RTC FB posted some....but it is not done often, I don't believe.

SMW:  I hope the worst that can happen is that he is held at RTC for a few days after PIR to wait on the waiver before flying to A School.  Shouldn't affect him much at A School since they usually "hold" for a while at A School anyway.  So ridiculous that the records were all supplied in the beginning....and now this, but we hear of this happening.  Prayers that it is completed in a timely manner!

    Good Morning!

  • SMW729

Just got a call from SR, I am so excited!  We got cut off in the middle of the call but he was able to tell me that medical said it should be easy to get his waiver.  I feel like a huge weight has been lifted.  Thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes.

  • TraG151

Got my call from my SR! He is having some medical tests done please say a prayer for him they sent him off base today for some testing we will know by the 27th. He said it's getting easier but still having a hard time missing us. He is very upbeat about the testing. He said if we don't hear from him on the 27th then that's a good thing. Thank you so much everyone!
  • SMW729

I will be praying that all goes well for your SR TraG151, and I am so excited for everyone getting calls.
  • diannep

Good news, SMW729, and praying for yours, TraG....that you will also get good news soon!

  • BatchMOM

Hey ladies I want you to know I pray every night for our sailors! Thank all of you for the information it is very helpful. Last night I thought I'd glance at the pictures on the navy training command Facebook page just to see and I found my son. Get your magnifying glass out and look at each one you might see yours too!
  • CatMom509

    Happy Friday!!

"Sing to the Lord; praise His name.

Each day proclaim the good news that He saves."

  • CatMom509

    SMW729 & TraG151,

    Prayers for both your SRs!!

  • mommacnavy

SMW729- so happy they told him that!  Such a load off!

TraG151- YAY for a phone call!!!  Been praying for that for a long time for you :)  Now will be praying for his medical tests, and peace for you here at home.

BatchMOM- are you talking about the pictures of them giving blood?  Those are the only ones I saw, so I'm wondering if there are more pics somewhere!  The only comment I saw on those was for Div 368 which would be graduating the week before... Thanks!

  • diannep

    Good Morning!

  • KYNavyMomma

This may sound silly.....Please tell me I am not the only one who is having a hard time keeping track of everyone.....I know it's the names we use on this site. I feel like I am forgetting so easily, and probably repeating myself to some of you, so my apologies. I am on the FB PIR groups as well, so makes it even more confusing for me. I know we will have name tags at the Meet & Greet, so could we maybe put our "Navy 4 Moms" names on those also? LOL. How are we ever going to know who is who? I think it's quite comical. Maybe we should all wear a neon yellow scarf or something ? LOL Something to easily identify ourselves from the rest of the group who isn't on here.

  • diannep

Nuke&SnipesMom:  That is an excellent idea on the N4Moms screen names and has been done by many other PIR groups! Other ideas from previous groups:  Those in a specific division wear a specific color PIR ribbon or scarf.  Or like you said a color for the whole PIR group who participate on N4Moms!

  • JAK4NAK

It is my understanding that SR's are not able to take their phones/electron devices back to the barracks after liberty on the 6th. (I get it)  I was planning on giving my SR his phone at the airport after he leaves RTC.  I have read different scenarios of when SR's are brought to the airport to ship to A School.  Given the fact that our window for possibly evening seeing our SR's at the airport could very small or even non-existent as they may be leaving for the airport in the wee hours and leaving before they have a chance to let us know, how is everyone else planning on getting their SR's devices to them?  Thoughts/Ideas, please.

  • diannep

The sailors bus to the airports very late on PIR night or in the wee hours.  They all check in around 3 a.m. or so....some will be flying out in just a few hours, others will wait most of the day, and even others will fly in between that.  Yes, you must trade off personal items there at the airport.  Those staying in GL for A School can return from Liberty with you with these items.

  • diannep

JAK:  If you are unable to to go the airport, you can ship the items to your sailor at A School.  My son went to A School with no personal items and he was fine!  I shipped his phone to him a week later.  In the meantime, he was able to call me using the remainder of his phone card or a borrowed cell phone.

  • diannep

All sailors will have their departure info by the time you see them at PIR.  Be sure to get the airport they will depart from (they leave from 2), date (although day after PIR is the normal departure day, some may not depart until the next day) and their flight info.  Some in the past have dropped off their sailors at RTC on PIR night, then returned to the hotel to sleep, getting up in the wee hrs to meet them at the airport.  Once your sailor gets to the airport, if any of his/her shipmates have family already there, maybe some will borrow cell phones and call their families to say they are there.  But most families will just go to the airport and wait on their sailors if necessary.  Sarge will have more info on this at his MeetandGreet.

  • mommacnavy

Nuke&SnipesMom- you're the only one having a hard time keeping track... Just kidding!  I don't know how ANYONE could be on top of all these screen names, etc!  I think we should definitely put our N4M names on our name tag under our real names!

  • Rhonda

Hi all... My daughter is scheduled for pir Nov 6th.. flying out Nov 5th.. anyone else?? Anything I should know.. really need to know how much time we will be able to spend with her
  • MountainMom

What are the chances?? That the one time I leave my cell phone for a few minutes our SR would call?!? Apparently the chances are good, cause that's what happened yesterday :( He did talk to his dad and his spirits were high so that's all good, but the moral of the story is keep your phone attached like an extra body part (even after 6pm)!

  • ellen0502

Rhonda, If your Sailor is staying on GL for A School you will have all weekend with them (Friday is a late liberty), from approx 6am to 10pm (times vary).

If your Sailor is flying out for A School, you will have Friday after PIR until approx 8pm, and they will likely fly out on Sat. You can meet them at the airport, get a gate pass, and sit with them at the gate until their flight leaves.

    MountainMom - Like this?

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

I still wear my cell çlipped to my shirt/bra strap. Trying to break the habit as my new purse has a pocket for it. I just wore it that way for so long. Hubby was deployed while son was BC. He came home but then son was in A school for four months after that. So I wore it that way for a year.

  • Amazing4

Mountainmom... I know the feeling my SR finally tried calling on Monday and because I was at work I could not answer. I was crushed! Fortunately his dad speak with him. He was in good spirits as well... but I wish Ihad heard it for myself
  • Carrie

Good afternoon everyone.  Wanted to share with everyone on here some information my SR shared with me in his letter I got today.  This is a rundown of day by day things so I figured I'd share in case some were not aware.

    10/14 - Live firing range at 0530

    10/15 - Graduation photos and 10/19 - blood drive

10/20 haircuts and 10/21 Division photos

    10/22 Firefighting I and 10/23 Firefighting II

10/24 Captains Cup and 10/26 Team Firefighting

10/27 Final PFA and 10/28 Firefighting application

10/31 Captains cup.  I am not sure why - but captains cup is listed twice in his rundown of his schedule of "important stuff".  Aside from the that being listed twice which I am questioning - gives an insight for the rest of the month going up to the last week of of BC - in which Battlestations should be going on that final week at some point.    He is happier than in his last letter now that they are learning more things.  His division was able to "moore a ship" on 10/8 in 19:30 (time limit was 25:00).  WTG Div 374!!!  Oh yea, and he said they get new sheets every thursday for their rack and he mentioned that he loves getting the new sheets and making his bed up - and laughed at the fact that he never thought the day would come where clean bed sheets got him excited. Just a small glimpse of what they are doing :) Enjoy!

  • Joyce6

Carrie thanks for the detailed update, my son is in div 374 also, good to know all that they are going thru.  Have a wonderful weekend!

  • diannep

Yep, Captains Cup is on Oct 31st for this PIR group.

  • mommacnavy

Garry'smom- woo hoo!  So exciting, right?!  I saw my SR on there too, made my week! :)
