My son is in Div 374 - he told me he does the blood drive on 10/19. Will have to check back on the blood drive page Monday and Tuesday :) hoping to get a glimpse of him!!!! Fingers crossed. That would completely make my week!
Anyone else from 374 get a call from their SR this morning. Mine tried to call this morning and I missed it. Since I have not seen anyone else that has gotten a call I am worried something is wrong.
jenn: Just remember, No News is Good News.....so try not to worry. But DO hope you get a call soon! If your SR's grad date is changed at all, you will be notified.
Got the name of a few friends of my son, ct. These three are first and last initial of first name..FO, BY, RI. This one is first and last NB. Any of yours?
Veteran Members - In my son's latest letter (Div 369), he said that their RDC told them he might request to ASMO their entire division. He & I were both thinking that once a PIR date is established for a TG, it cannot be changed, but an individual can be set back (or several individuals). Are we correct, or can an entire division actually be set back? I seem to remember this being discussed on here before and hearing that cannot happen, but if you could confirm for me, I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
mommacnavy: Ahah.....yep....they threaten that all of the time....ASMOing (setting back) an entire division. Does not happen....they say that to motivate them. Individuals, however, can and will be asmoed.
Nuke&SnipesMom- it does stink that they stalk these sites, but I did hear they did that when I first got on here; although I don't remember where I heard it! (so helpful, right?) I know this site can be seen publicly, you just can't post unless your a member...
Nukes&SnipesMom: The RDCs are told NOT to go on this site, but sometmes they do. That is why we work so hard to make sure you all do not post much personal info....save that to private message to your friends on here. Here is my take on this....the FB groups seem to think they are much safer since they are "private" groups. They do a pre-screening process by volunteers, like we here are, but guess what? This is cyberspace! There is only so much they can ask about---people can be whoever they want to in cyberspace. AND, who better to know about Bootcamp things than Navy personnel at RTC? So.....I am convinced that either RDCs or family members/friends of theirs have gained entrance into some of these FB groups. Sooo....my suggestion is this: No matter what social media group you may be in, be wise. Don't share negative comments your SR may make....be general in what you do share, like: My SR is doing well. They are having (test) next week, etc. That is all public info and can be shared. But don't be like the wife that was on a previous group about 4 yrs ago....who posted that her husband said that he hated RDC (name). Oh boy.....didn't help when the next post was from another wife who suggested that this lady "kick him in the b--lls" at PIR. Thankfully, I notified the group creator who got those comments deleted immediately! Can you imagine what could have happened to those SRs? Wow......
So be wise....don't disclose too much info.....but PLEASE do not flee these sites as they are very helpful!
User names can also be a "give away" on this site, and on the FB groups your real name is visible everywhere. If you don't have things locked down to a tight ship on FB, comparing what is here with what can be seen on your personal FB account it can be easy peasy to figure out who you are with a few "detective skills".
Don't be fooled by a private, closed or secret group either, they are not as "private, closed or secret" as you think they may be.
I am on a FB group for my sons ship and we still post absolutely nothing about where they are, where they are going, what they are doing, unless it is actual public knowledge. We post "Fair Winds and Following Seas", "Out floatin' on a boat" etc. Those of us that should know, do, and if any spies are around no such luck, they may know they are headed out, but not when, where to, or why. Most of the time we don't even know until after the fact.
Divisions numbers are OK, what the division is, it is no secret, but true on not saying what their rating may be.
There are also many jobs that may not be spec ops, but require a high security rating, those ratings you should be "quiet about." If your recruit is one of those you would most likely know.
Reading the tread its interesting because I have just been having concerns about posting things on any social media. Yesterday I was thinking how aweful it would be if someone was lurking around to get information about anything posted, to be perfectly honest it scares the H--- out of me! If the RDC's lurking around, well not quite sure how I feel about that, on the other hand, anyone lurking around to cause harm to my SR well I have a real problem with that, My son joined the Navy to protect his Country! I'm serious when I say that, There are great advantages as well, schooling benefits and such, but, bottom line my sons and yours and daughters as wellwill be serving our Country with honor, courage and Commitment. I for one do not want to do anything that would work against that. It's bad enough all the emotional changes and adjustments that we here as moms have gone thru so far in this Journey, that there r some that intend to profile this to gain àdvantage to the detriment of our Children and to Our Country. II have personally put my family and friends on notice if I even have a clue that they have posted anything that would compromise my son or this country's security, I will be the first one inline of many where there will be a price to pay,I am sorry about being on this soapbox, but at the end of the day,its my son your sons and daughters that make and keep all of us safe! Sorry for the long post.
Very well said TheRocksmom! I have also worried about the same things. I don't post much but I read all of it. But I did see my SR today on the blood drive Fb page. Made my heart smile. I NEVER thought it would truly be this hard. I knew it would be hard but not like this.
TraG151, I get a little passionate about certain things, I think wonderful you saw your son on the page!! Unfortunately I did not :( I got all turned around just trying to sign up... I can't wait just a few weeks away. I'm saying prayers for all SR not sure what date Battleship but I will feel better when that's done..
We officially have 16 days between us and a big hug from our SR's!!! It will be here before we know it. I'm sure time is flying by for them moreso now also! They're days are busy, and I can only imagine the excitement and anticipation they feel. We think we're excited? Geesh, these young men and women have to be going crazy mad and antsy as ever these last couple of weeks. We are down to the TEENS now in our countdown. Remember when we thought we would never make it? Guess what, we're almost there! I think we should be proud of ourselves as parents. Many of us are going to be absolutely amazed when we see the transformation of our brand new Sailors. It's almost like being pregnant again.....I've said this before. You can't wait for the day to get here, and you are so anxious and curious as to what kind of "kid" you're gonna get. LOL!
Just got a phone call from my SR ship 11 division 374 she is so excited and right on track for PIR. I am so proud of her can't wait to see her. Miss her so much.
jenn....so glad you got to talk to him! Can I ask a favor please to keep within guidelines on this site? Can you copy/paste your post that includes a SR's last name, delete the name (you can use initials and hometown) and then delete the original post? Thanks. We cannot expose any recruit names on this site publicly. You CAN share them by private message on here though.
Thank you for the FBPage. I found a picture of my son. ;). On another note, I posted a few days ago asking if anyone knew specific SR initials. Please understand that these are the friends that my son has made while at boot camp. If you think you might know the initials, please private message me, I would love to meet you in Great Lakes. ;)
Good morning! Yes, getting so very close now. I think these next couple of weeks are going to be absolutely crazy! I swear the excitement and anticipation is almost too much :) Does anybody else feel like their nerves are a bit worse than these last several weeks? I guess the beginning and the end of boot camp are the most stressful on me. Hopefully it's mail day today & tomorrow. I am so praying for some good news from my son.
Have fun NavyMOMT! I have to go shopping for underwear also for my SR :) He asked for new ones so that he can toss the tightie whities immediately :) Taking my daughter to the mall this weekend to buy some winter attire for PIR.
Remember to dress in layers for PIR. The PIR Hall could be warm, the outside chilly. So you want to shed layers as needed! The wind off of the Lake very close by can be a bit brutal at times~ probably won't be bad though this early in Nov!
Farmers Almanac weather prediction for Great Lakes:
November 2015
1st-3rd. Rain or wet snow Great Lakes. 4th-7th. Stormy over the nation’s mid-section, heavy precipitation sweeps up through the Ohio Valley, then fair but cold. 8th-11th. Increasingly cloudy, but still pleasant.
Dr Sport Fitness- wow, I just saw how far you are! So sorry it takes so long for you to get any info! Are you going to be able to go to graduation? So happy for you that you finally know his ship/div!! Welcome!
Momma8480- glad you were able to find your son in the pictures! Unfortunately, my son's initials aren't one of the ones your listed :( But I will list some I want to connect with that my son is friends with: all last name first initials: D, L, C (from Southern California-shipped out of San Diego with him), L, P (from Illinois), D (from Ghana), S (from Oregon). PM me if any of these can be your recruit so we can meet in Great Lakes!
KyNavyMomma- YES, my nerves are going crazy! Getting so much closer to the "I'm a Sailor" call, and PIR! I can hardly contain myself!
NavyMOMT- have fun shopping! I need to do that too!
diannep- thanks for the weather/dress in layers info! Thank goodness my son graduates before that actual cold season there! I think the Chicago weather could kill us southern Californians, LOL!
TheRocksmom- hooray for that countdown! WE'RE SO CLOSE!
Ok a question here. My son is waiting on test results but he is right on time with everyone. He said we should know by the 27th I have so much to do. But I am scared to go get anything because what if he calls and says there is a problem? Any thoughts on this?
Trag151 I strongly recommend that if you fly get refundable tickets my child got pushed back two weeks I didn't have them and now I have to buy tickets all over again. But no news is good news hope all is well with your son can't wait for PIR so exciting.
mommacnavy you are so good at addressing everyone! so KyNavyMomma, diannep, NavyMOMT, I agree with everything mommacnavy said! TraG151 we all going think positive here! personally, my blue candles will be burning just about around the clock moving forward, Push them ANTS (automatic negative thoughts) right out of your head! I am excersising faith here for all of us. I saw a great quote, you know the kind that people put on the back of their veihicles in white usually in window's everything from stick family, to in memory of's. I saw this one on FB page, it said "Dont mess with me, I'm a Sailors Mom" and underneath it said NAVY STRONG! That's what we all have to do here, my nerves so bad, I am afraid to have any type of Caffiene! lol. Back to work, check in later! The best is yet to come...
