We got a 369 letter yesterday!  Notables: "We finally actually started getting together as a team too." "We earned 3 flags this week. One for keeping our compartment clean and on spot (there are a million checkpoints), a scholastic flag, and a drill flag." "After we kicked butt this week we are in 3rd out of 10 divisions in points. Not too bad. We just have to keep this up." I know the positions vacillate all the time, but for 369 to be in 3rd even for a day brings tears to my eyes! We have had ALL divisions praying for our guys, and they are now working as a team, earning flags, and gaining confidence! THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S SUPPORT! I love how the loved ones from ALL divisions have been TOGETHER on this journey :)

  • TheRocksmom

Mommacnavy mine is 370 brother DIV.

  • TheRocksmom

Got flu shot yesterday feeling not so great where do I go for gate pass? I'm more confused than ever.. Does anyone really know what day is battleships?? For 370? I can't wait for PIR and too meet my mommas! I have to get this flu shot every year because where I work, but Idk feel aweful and more crazy than I normally am, so please forgive me, my ears are bright red lol, I go light blue candle now check back later

  • mommacnavy

TheRocksmom - come on, I know you're 370!  Haha :)  I opted out of the flu shot... I don't need it for work!  I've heard it gets people sick, so didn't want that!  Hope you feel better SOON!

  • Momma8480

I should have gotten my flu shot, but a bit too chicken. Would be smart considering my job. My thoughts are with you TheRocksMpm. By the way, I am a little lost... Hats change from recruit to navy. Are these ball caps? And oh... I lost my other question. Oops be back soon. Having a mother brain moment. 11/6, here we come!
  • Momma8480

Second question. What is PFA? Lol.
  • KYNavyMomma

Woo hoo Moms!  Our Div 369 boys sound like they're really pulling it together, just in the nick of time:)  I admit, I was worried, but everyone kept telling me that the RDC's will have them molded into fine young Sailors, and from the way it sounds, that's exactly what's happening.  A few biggies coming up...but I'm keeping the faith now.  I can't wait to hug my son.  (heck, I may just even hug his RDC's too :))

  • diannep

Momma8480:  Yes, in the capping ceremony, the new sailors exchange their RECRUIT baseball caps for the NAVY baseball caps.  It is very emotional for them....they did it!

PFA=Physical Fitness Assessment (they have 3 of these during Bootcamps, but a SR must pass the last one in order to do BattleStations.

    Good Morning!

  • TheRocksmom

Good morning, well head clearly better, that flu shot did a number!

  • TheRocksmom

Mmmacnavy Headache and weird arm Ouch! I thought u did, well head better, but arm  ouch can only imagine that peanut butter shot. Well going look for outfit for PIR!  I wonder if they will be able to call today? In last letter (dad got) he said "I finally like my civilian lifestyle is fading and my Sailor life is starting t take over" I usually do not post personal quotes from him but thought I would share, I guess he's progressed to what he's there for. A very wise mom commented to me that the Navy owns them now, so I have to let go of çertain mom control things. This separation has been most difficult for me.  One of last comments were, " I want to start doing things on my own and have pride for the work I do" well so touching can I tell how proud of this young man I am!, I can't to tell him that I have been proud of him my whole life, he's been the Rock in our family always. I can't wait to sit on them cold steel bleachers.

    Good morning all!!

  • My Sailor daughter

Good Morning everyone. This morning I spoke to my friend whose daughter graduated yesterday. She drove to Chicago 13 hours. She said her stomach was up and down the whole ride. She went to the meet and greet and loved it. She said it was very nice. The next morning she arrived at the base at 630 it was already crowded. Lol, She said the feeling you get when your there and they finally announce that the sailor are coming out is unexplainable. She cried, cheered and cried somemore. Her daughter is going to Florida for school. She flies out Sunday afternoon. Omg, to know it's only 9 more days if we don't count the weekend! Woohoo!!
  • TheRocksmom

My Sailor daughter, I'm crying just reading this! 9 days thanks for that perspective. Now for sure gotta go get outfit today lol

  • TheRocksmom

Yea 369! Well getting down to the wire here, no caffeine for me going have to have camomile tea .
I wish I was on f them people that when nervous don't eat, I been munching on pumkin seeds M&Ms with peanuts, popcorn, feel like I should hang bierd feeder above my head with snack mix and just peck at it all day. Really can't focus on anything but getting thru these last days, I hope I'm not the only one please tell me I'm not going insane. OMG I just discovered my tablet has voice recognition. I don't have to type, this is awesome, No worry about spelling. Look out mamas I will B practicing on you. Lol

  • TheRocksmom

Diannep, do they take pictures at the capping ceremony?

  • TraG151

Oh TheRocksmom you literally just made me laugh out loud. Everyone is looking at me like I am crazy! I needed that! You are all great!
  • TheRocksmom

TraG151 M family convinced I'm nuts, One minutes crying, blowing my Nose, the next minute I'm like " OK everybody lets go shopping " my older son jst said " Well shouldn't you get dressed first" and just rolled his eyes at me. I was standing in kitchen dressed in PJs with keys in my hand, lol.

  • My Sailor daughter

TheRocksmom no problem.. I thought it would be nice to share because I'm sure we are all going to be on that same emotional ride. Omg, yes that's also my focus for today. Finding an outfit that's not to much but yet nice and warm to wear for that day.
  • ellen0502

TheRocksmom, Oh Dear! You aren't even in anxiety week for moms yet, one more week to go on that one. LOL

Everybody.....Deep breath in, hold it, 1, 2, 3, 4, and exhale. Again, deep breath in, hold it, 1, 2, 3, 4, and exhale. And one more time deep breath in, hold it, 1, 2, 3, 4, and exhale. You are almost there!!!

  • diannep

TheRocksMom:  No, not routinely.  Although every now and then, there may be a "peek" of a capping ceremony by way of a picture, but usually that is a private celebration between the new sailors and the RDCs/staff!

  • CatMom509

    Good Morning!

  • Tamme Billions

I'm a little worried. Has anyone heard from their SR from div 371?
  • Nen's Mom

Tamme Billions ...yes my SR is with 371.
They have PFA test and another written test coming up. They did firearms last week and
They did well with compartment inspection and they had division pictures as well. They had a good time during pictures with their RDCs. My SR sounded very positive about the division. They donated blood 10/16 as division. They're getting cohesive and they share a quiet prayer time at night before Taps( going to bed)
    Happy blessed Sunday to all!!!
The Bible says, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." (Philippians 4:6)
  • TheRocksmom

ellen0502. I know I took your advice breath! Anxiety weeks its been lol! diannep thanks, I thought as much, Tamme Billions love Philippians 4:6, there's not a more appropriate verse than this. Thanks for sharing that!

  • TheRocksmom

I will focus on door decoration; I passed these out to my family today, told them to decorate the anchor, and write personal Message for him for PIR, in scroll like shown, or they can attached to envelope. it will be easy packing and will go with my door theme. I know it's been said before, but this N4M site is truly a HELP. I am sure I will be here for as long as my son is in the NAVY

  • CatMom509

    Blessed Sunday!

"And my God will meet all your needs

according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

  • KYNavyMomma

TheRocksMom, you aren't the only one who's family thinks you're crazy. I have a 15 year old daughter at home- missing her brothers badly also.  She and my husband are constantly rolling their eyes at me, shaking their heads, behind my back- but I see it  :)  I have episodes where I cry over the silliest shit possible, but laugh at things I would normally cry over. Husband is begging me to go see a doctor and get some meds to help with that. I told him, don't worry- I'll be fine come Nov 6th about 10:30 a.m :) I have a feeling these next 11 days or so are going to be a whirlwind. Burning blue candles and praying and sending as many positive vibes and everything else possible this week.  I am having major brain farts also and can't think of anything- can't remember anything. I have "lists" of things to do, things to buy, just to get ready for our trip. Every time I get home from work- I zone out and can't remember anything.  Took my daughter shopping for something warm to wear to PIR yesterday and she asked me 3 times at least- "Mom, are you having a stroke right now"? I guess I have a lot on my mind. LOL.

TheRocksMom- thank you for making me laugh and for letting us share in your craziness - you have been so much of a help you have no idea.....we will all get through this together. I am very thankful for all of you.

  • SMW729

Happy Monday, otherwise known as one day closer.  I understand everyone's crazy foggy brain.  I feel so scatterbrained recently it seems the only thing I can focus on is seeing my boy.  I thought because he was in DEP for well over a year I was prepared and this was going to be a cake walk, oh how wrong I was.  If it wasn't for every single one of you ladies I think I would have lost it by now.  Somehow it is a comfort to know that there are others feeling the same way as me.  I know we are all so very proud of the children we raised in to the fantastic adults they have become, but its so hard to let go of the 4 year old playing with trucks and action figures.  Well I am rambling because I am having one of my emotional roller coasters, I just wanted to give all of you a big (((HUG))) from one Navy mom to another.

  • diannep

Good Afternoon!  Yes, quite a change with the military, right?  Not like sending a kid off to college or camp!  But once they are in A School, there is CONTACT again.  So hang on!  Of course, once they deploy, it can get hard again but this site will still be a great help to you then (your ship site).  So consider Bootcamp "training ground" for what's to come.  My son had been connected to a ship that was undergoing renovation for the entire time he was in.....he deployed on another ship "workup" for 2 weeks but other than that, I was able to stay in touch--luckily his "job" went on pretty normally even when stateside.  He was a YN so worked in the office of the ship so was even able to email at times on the workup.  He still missed 3 Thanksgivings and his birthdays though when in.  He did manage to get home for Christmas which was great!  Just stay flexible, ladies, since the Navy is constantly changing....Ride the Waves (sorry for the pun!  :-) )

  • mommacnavy

Good morning Ladies!  TheRocksmom- thanks for keeping me laughing with your candid posts!  I know I can relate QUITE WELL with my family thinking I'm crazy, not being able to focus, etc... just like KYNavyMomma, SMW729 & probably most moms on here :)  My son is 21 & I don't think it's any easier than if he were straight out of high school...

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

I remember it being "crazy in the beginning, a bit of a lull in the middle and then the last two weeks, as going to Chicago got close, being CRAZY again! All the prep and the excitement of this stage BEING OVER, COMING to FRUITION! Woo-Hoo!

So, if you are feeling more anxiety and wondering "what the heck is wrong with you?"...there isn't anything...it's all very normal!

  • TraG151

I truly feel that was! I feel like I am so numb I drove past my exit on the freeway 2 times today.. I feel like I am losing it.. I can't wait to see him!
  • My Sailor daughter

I'm so glad it's not only me,lol.. My 7 yr keeps tell me mommy why are you crying cause your happy at sis again? I say yeah. She says oh your happy with her a lot how about me? Lol. She helps me from going insane. This is how crazy I've been I figured because of it let me make a list of things to do before Fri Nov.6. As I'm writing the list I realized the gate pass. I did see a lot of the moms already printed them. Omg, I can't remember where to print it from. Here I go crying again! One of the most important things, smh. Can someone help me find it. Thanks in advance.
  • nlover4real

I have been reading so many comments about everyone crying I am the opposite I haven't cried yet. I have been on this insane roller coaster of missing my baby girl and I won't let myself cry. I'm scared that if I start I won't be able to stop. Instead I haven't been sleeping to much since she left. The first week she left I think I may have slept a total of 8hrs. People keep saying just cry and get it over with but I can't. I'm I crazy for not crying.
  • diannep

Tears of happiness and pride for your sailor may flow at PIR , niover4real!  I was like you when my son was up there....but was a sobbing blubbermouth at PIR!

  • Tierney'smom

good morning! What is the RTC website address so I can print out my gate pass?

  • KYNavyMomma

I woke up at 5am and realized that there are only 9 days between us and those hugs we are all so desperately waiting for. 9 days!  9 day! I remember when it seemed that the count was so high we would never make it. Here we are. I think I will be in a daze the next week or so, and it may be a good thing. The way I figure it- if I forget to pack something- there's always a Walmart close by.  FTLW is right, the last couple of weeks are worse than the first few weeks.  The not knowing is killing me.....final PFA was yesterday for my SR's division.....now I'm scared that I WILL get a call.  On a positive note- it doesn't sound like the weather in GL is going to be too terribly bad for us.

nlover4real....you are not crazy.  I think everybody has their own unique way of handling this roller coaster that we're on. It takes its toll on the emotions, that's for sure.  We, as moms, become stronger through this entire process. I think we realize at some point that we can actually handle a lot more than we ever thought we could.  It doesn't necessarily get easier for me like a lot of people have said it would- I just get better at handling it because I am becoming stronger (just like my soon to be Sailor) - I am becoming a Navy Mom :)
