Hello moms,
my son has been in holding for security clearance
he has not "badged" up as he says
Im wondering how long this will be....Im hoping he doesnt get depressed or disappointed
or lose that high and or enthusiasm right after boot camp having accomplished that
and ready to go to training
He PIRed on 7/7
and I tell him to be patient and it should be in due time
however the fact that he doesnt know when is the hard part for him
both bio parents are immigrants and we have relatives who live in native countries
and thats 2 different countries, despite that fact my husband his stepdad in the military reserve
has or had sec clearance when he served in Afghan and his bio dad a Lt 18 years in and i believe he
mentioned hes in some process of getting clearance (not sure just from casual conversation during PIR)
Im hoping this whole waiting time period will not down his spirits
i know he wont get in trouble ( he practically has no vices)
however I dont want him to get disappointed if this drags on and he mentioned another sailor
whose parents are from my country of origin and that hes been holding for 3 months
and it bothered my son to know about it
does anyone have anything to share on how i can keep supporting my son and keep him positive about the whole thing
CTN was what he specifically signed up for and told his recruiter from the get go what he wanted and I know he just wants to get going now
how can i keep his spirits up? any suggestions on anyone who went through similar experience
i know this group is very quiet which I presume is for safety of our kids, however i am very wary of posting on facebook due to some warnings of admins here not to share too much as fb is too public that is why i am going to this site first hoping for some answers or advice
thanks

also he just told me today some CTNs straight from bootcamp arrived and badged up the same day
and this added to his somber and sad tone of voice although hes not really saying to me
and hes just saying "its alright" but his tone doesnt speak that to me

I meant both parents immigrated from years ago but are now citizens
and also somehow it was mentioned to him since he comes from the west coast that it would add to the delay as well since everyone doing the bg check is in the east coast

My son also had to wait to class up. He found a number of things to do to keep himself busy. There are always a number of "positions" that people on hold can do that help pass the time. Please let your son know that he's not alone, even though he must feel that way.
