Hey everyone! My son doesn't leave for boot camp until 2/5/18 but I'm trying to get ahead in all my info.
Is it true that only 4 people can attend graduation? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question but I'm new here and that's the info I've gotten so far from the Naval website.
Thanks!
Yes, Dena. Four people are allowed to attend - unless it is an unusually large graduation - then it is 3. You will get that information in the "form letter" that you will receive about a week to ten days after your son leaves.
Many hotels in the area have large screen TV's in the lobby and live-stream the graduation. There is also a link that can be used to live-stream from a laptop.
I know that you have tons of questions. I did, and this site was a literal life-saver and source of reliable information. For SURE find and print off the list "What to do in the last 30 days before your sailor leaves." You will be glad you did.
If you go to graduation, plan on attending Sarge's Meet and Greet. Info on that is also on this site. You will meet family members of sailors in your son's division and get a lot of helpful information.
If possible, stay at the Navy Lodge - but make reservations early. It is very close to the base and the rates are very reasonable.
Above all - take it a day at a time. Ask any questions you have. Enjoy the remaining time with your son. God bless. Hope this helps.
before your son leaves he can have a wallet so he can have at least 20 bucks inside book of stamps, a activated calling card, address book small one with phone numbers and addresses. ID, Social, and if he has an account he can take his info for that. if he takes his cell phone know that they will be shipping it back with his clothes that will be the box you receive with shoes and clothes. Once his PIR is listed it will give you the info on how many guest are allowed and also on his form Letter as well.

Good Morning Dena welcome to the site. I will post a few things for you on sites to read ok and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Can recruits take anything to BC with them?
Recruits should go with what they have on their backs, their cell phones, and not much else. (See Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....)
What will the first day be like at BC?
See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Ship/Division--How it Works.
How long is the "I'm here!" call and when will s/he be able to call again?
See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.
