Hey everybody, my husband and I were stationed in Port Hueneme for our very first PCS. We had an amazing house on base, signed the lease, were assured that we had a place to stay, then as we were driving cross country from our former home (Virginia), we got a call that said our home had water damage on the 2nd floor and we no longer have a home. 2 days before we were supposed to move in! The housing office was no help, wouldn't give us any further information, and overall made us feel like we were being lied to about the whole situation. Now we have to struggle to find an apartment fast and pay for hotels out of pocket. Is there anything that protects us when things like this happen, especially since we already signed the lease? Do any of you have suggestions for apartment buildings close to base? Any advice or info will help!

How heartbreaking and frustrating! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I don't have any suggestions, but I think this is horrible. My son is stationed at this base and they just got into base housing. They had an apartment off-base and the traffic to get to the base was bad! I wish you well and hope you have a solution soon.
