Hi, I’m new to the group and my husband just started OCS on May 5th. I got a phone call from him before he surrendered his phone but he didn’t mention anything about his class number whatsoever. He just said, “This is my last call and I’m about surrender my phone. I’ll call you when I can.” I read that some people were able to receive a text message from their son/husband with their address and class numbers but he never sent me one. Is it too early for me to send letters to his address? Thanks for your help!
Send letters - if you don’t have the complete / accurate address they will find there way to him. But do your best! I had the address wrong for a while, my son still got them. He is a very strong and capable person, and he appreciated the letters we sent, just sharing what was happening at home. He once told me that was one thing that helped him get through the training, and as I listened to his voice, I could hear how difficult this training can be. The letters from home, encouraging, telling him you are proud of him, but limit the ‘I miss you’ messages ( they can create and/or build homesickness and guilt that they’ve left you to fend for yourself). If you go to the Facebook page for “Officer Training Command Newport”, you can find photos and be sure of his class...I think it is either 12-19 or 13-19.
Good luck, and thank you for his service, and yours as well!
