Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.
My son contacted me Tuesday to say he was sent to RCU for the flu and his graduation date is now pushed back. a few questions:
1. Do they always return to a group or division on a set day, I mean.. like do they "discharge" every Tuesday... or is it on a case by case basis?
2. Are they all always allowed to call on Sunday's and give updates?
3. Anyone else's child or husband been sent for flu? He had no voice when he called to tell me he was sent to RCU ...
I guess I'm just worried about him, I hate not knowing daily now what is happening. I finally just got comfortable and he was 16 days away from PIR and then this happens to him.

For your first question, it’s a case by case basis. He’ll be sent to a division as close to where he left as possible.
As for calls, the entire unit can have call privileges revoked at any time but as long as no one is caught with contraband he should be able to call home on Sunday.
My boy severed his fibia 8 days before PIR and tried to hide it. Made that work for almost two days before he was busted and sent to RCU. He was there 5 months plus.
It’s torture for us moms to be in the dark when our kids are injured or ill. Be assured they’re taking care of his health. RCU is kinda like a gulag mentally but your son won’t be there long.
Hang in there!
