S-PACT
Hello, I am newbie here, My son has signed 3 yr contract for S-PACT and will be leaving for BC next month 01/27. After which we were told he will attend another 3-4 week training and then will be in-job-training for the area he is interested in (IT) upon joining the Ship. Reading about PACT and talking with his recruiter, I am confused with the part - (when he joins the Ship, he will be asked for the area of interest and then will be placed in that area for 1 yr training.)
Do they directly get in to the area of their interest right away? or is it at the discretion of the authority there whether to put them in the area of their interest or not? Can they deny the area of interest? Also where can I look for DIV details?

Hello Maya,
I know you posted this a while ago, but I just noticed it, and I see that your sailor will be graduating this month. From what I understand, they will be placed in a job based on the needs of the ship. Sometimes this is the area of interest, and sometimes it isn't (although it could turn out to be something interesting that the recruit hadn't considered). Best of luck!
