I guess its reassuring that other people haven't heard anything from their PR's yet either. I write a few times a week, I know my mom and other siblings are writing too. I do have a FB page if you search by my email that would probably be easiest. Erskine41@gmail.com
This site is definitely helpful, its a good way for me to turn and see that there are tons of others going through the same stuff I am. Im glad the weeks are going by kinda quickly, I hope it feels the same for my brother and all the other PR's!
Wen I came home from work today I received not 1 but 2 letters!!!! I was so excited to read them.
Brandon's first letter said that the days go by quickly and that it is hard. he said that they are up every day 03:45 to 04:00 every morning, and that they have to shave even if they don't need to. Lights out at 22:00 every night too. He said that he didn't mind going to bed by 22:00. Said that in addition to their Bulls Warm Up Suits they received Navy PT sweats and the blue digital Camo...New Balance shoes and combat boots. He said that he passed his fitness testing....He was top 10 in his division out of 86.
Letter #2
They had another PFA (Physical Fitness Achievement Exam) and they also had a written exam. He said that if they passed both tests they would would get promoted. They need to run 1.5 miles in 12.5 minutes, 40 push-ups and 60 situps in 2 minutes. Brandon passed the run in 11:12 minutes, 60 push-ups and 95 sit-ups in 2 minutes, so he passed the PFA but he didn't know about the written exam as of when he wrote this letter. He said that the RTC (recruit training commanders) told them that their scores were good. Brandon passed the the 50 yard swimming test but still needs to do the 5 minute float. He said that they get about 5 1/2 hours of sleep every night and they will get awaken in the middle of the night to do the ironing. He said that I would be proud that he learned to fold his clothes Military Style vrs wading them up in a ball. LOL . On Sundays from 07:00 to 13:00 is free time this is when they get to read their letters. He said that they get their mail when it comes but can't read it until Sunday's.He said that he has made a lot of freinds and it wasn't that bad that he was adjusting to it. Brandon said that he was looking forward sitting down and eating a meal where he is not rushed, they get 15 minutes to eat. He said that he was expecting more letters from us and that the reruits looked forward to hearing from their families. This brought tears to my eyes. He said that in a week or 2 they will get a phone call.
So I wanted to share with everyone, and if you didn't get a letter yet I think you will shortly. Boy was it hard to read his writting...LOL
Heard from my SR twice today and received two letters life is good. He was able to call because they did really well on a test (forgot what he called it) but it was great to hear his voice and how happy he was. Hopefully everyone else got to hear from their SR and we will see each other real soon.
