Mil Div-being masted

Hi all I am wondering what it means to be masted. My son is in Power School right now and he was late a few times and his SLPO masted him. I have no idea what that is and what the details are of this. Does anyone else? He is having some marital problems currently so that don't help him any. I hate this because he has had his phone and internet privileges taken away and I don't know what is going on with him. If anyone has any thoughts please share them with me. He is now off of restriction but his wife has his phone with her in Texas and so there is still no way to contact him. Just a really worried mom here. Please share info if you have any. Thank you in advance

    it has been many years since i was there but in school they really like to make examples of people. since he is in power school he should be an E4, it is possible that they reduced him in rate to back to E3 which means he is now taking a pay cut. If they were nice to him then taking away privileges and putting him on restriction may be the most they did. He is now in the scope though, if he gets in trouble again I am sure he can pretty much expect to be kicked out of the nuke program.

      Oh Shelley,  I'm so sorry you are experiencing this.  My son is in Power School also.  Since he started, I have talked to him about a number of sailors that were masted.  The degree of punishment can vary.  Sometimes they are kicked out of the program, and sometimes they have privileges taken away for a short time.  I hope your sailor is one that lost privileges for a short time.  My heart goes out to you.  Hang in there.  He is a young man wanting to show he can take care of himself on his own.  I'll keep you in my prayers.  Karen

        My son just had PIR 11/13. He is in SC now. He told us that when they arrive all of the Sailors who are Masted are paraded in front of the new NUKES and they have to watch the disicipline as a deterrent.
