From what I am told the wait list for base housing is 3-6 months.

So for those in Jax Id love to here of the alternatives! Nice apts and communities! Everything Ive read is pretty scary!

    So I take it your husband has gotten stationed here in Jax. It is a real nice place to live. My son is stationed here and we moved with him here. We found a house on militarybyowner.com. They have houses for sale and for rent by military families getting stationed somewhere else. Our Landlord is actually in Dubai for 18 months. And he is not sure if when he gets done there if he will actually get sent back here. So it is a win win situation for us. There are good and not so good areas to live here. I am going to add you and send you some.

      I'd stear clear of Lake Gray Apartments.  We lived there for about ten months and they weren't horrible, but there is much better for the same price, if not a better price.  If you want to live close to base, it wont be as nice of an area.  The neighborhoods I'd stay with would be Fleming Island, Bartram, Southside, Oakleaf and even some of Orange Park and Baymeadows.
