how long is MM A-school in GL???

My husband just graduated bootcamp on Friday, Aug 5th. His original contract was for EN meaning he would be at GL for A-school for 12 weeks. He checked into A-school Friday afternoon, and he was told EN was no longer a valid rate and he had been transferred to a MM-AUX rating.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two?? I am assuming that he will stay in GL, but do you know for how long??? He is having troubles getting answers since he is still in his processing days of A-school. Any help for this crazy, confused navy wife would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Did he request submarine duty? When I looked on line it said EN was on a surface ship, and a MM-AUX was a sub.....according to my son whose a MM3 (nuclear), I guess that's not always the case though. But if you look on line under EN in the Navy, and MM-AUX in the navy, it tells you all about the jobs. I hope that helps you.
