My son is enlisting in the Navy and wants to be EOD. He has completed his physical, passed his PST and his ASVAB scores are great. He is currently going each Wednesday to Warner Robins, GA to do the PST again each week. The recruiter has told him that his name and information will be sent to Tennessee to see if he is chosen for a slot. Does anyone know how this process works and how long it takes to see if he got a slot? I keep asking questions but I am not getting clear information from him. Thanks!
EODMom...That sounds great! If you have a chance to talk with him, tell him to take care when running especially. Stress injuries seem to be rampant in the Spec Ops program. Ours lost his contract after moving to Prep school. He re-injured his leg after suffering a complete fracture in his 4th week. Will be praying for success for your SR.
kellyM... I am so glad to hear that it is going well. Marietta was such a better place to be for ours. Tell him to keep the phone numbers of the officers and motivator there. He may need it. Ours did. Our son broke his right leg and had 3 stress fractures in his left with muscle strain. He has been in physical therapy and medical since Oct. He has finally been cleared for duty, but he lost his contract. He has now been re-classed for Master of Arms and will be leaving for A school next Friday. Just be prepared for the roller coaster ride of your life. I thought I was prepared mentally for the separation and not being able to hear from him, but I wasn't. The officers and motivator at Marietta were able to help him with decisions he had to make while in medical and physical therapy. We were not knowledgeable enough to help him with those decisions.
We will be praying for him and you during this time.
