That's ok, no one really knows what to expect. ;) That's pretty much how it is in the Navy, they only tell you what to do NOW, not what step is coming next. And anything can change at any time. Tell your bf to just ask lots of questions, ask what is coming next, what is happening when (or scheduled to, at least, schedules change often though), how best he can be prepared and get ahead. If he keeps his head down, nose to the grindstone, always gives 110% and stays out of trouble, he will do well and earn respect along the way from the people that count for his career. My husband is new to his boat, but works hard above and beyond what is required of him, treats everyone with respect, doesn't let stuff get under his skin, and stays out of the way of the jerks on the boat and already he is well liked and most people don't give him much trouble even though he is a nub.

Other than that, just hang on tight and be ready to go with the flow! It's ok to have feelings about the frustrating things that happen (and they will...a lot) but being flexible and always ready to make the most of everything will help make it a much more enjoyable experience.

Did you have any other specific questions? Am I reading your post right that your bf is in A School right now? (Sorry I'm not too familiar with very many rates- is ITS his rate?) Has he been assigned to a boat yet/does he know when his graduation date is?
