Hey everyone, hoping that someone might be able to answer this once and for all. My boyfriend is at Jax and I'm trying to figure out a way to move down there with him, but we're not entirely sure how housing works for those in our situation. We want to wait a few years to get married, so obviously we can't live on base together. At first, the impression I got just from browsing around here was that he couldn't live off base at all until he makes E4. However, he says there's a guy in his squadron who is E2 and has an apartment with his girlfriend, so we could live together but he wouldn't recieve any BAH until we got married or he made E4. BUT, the DOD website's BAH calculator lists an allowance for E2's in Jacksonville, without dependents. Does anyone know exactly how this works?
