Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi

We've passed Basic, now its attending A school in Meridian, Mississippi. Let's talk and get to know one another.

son will be attending "A" school in Meridian, Ms after PIR 11/21

Received a letter from from my son telling us he won't be home for X-mas. He told us he would be in "A"

school for 4 weeks and it wasn't worth the money to fly home and fly back.  Yes he will be in LS. This is all new to me any information would be greatly appreciated.

My son went to A school at Meridian as well, he is also a logistics specialist, we are only 3 hrs away so we were able to drive there to see him

I think the first holiday is the hardest.  My son left for boot camp last November.  We missed him at Thanksgiving, his birthday, Christmas, and New years.  His PIR was January 27th.  Then he was in A school for Easter!  He did come home for a couple weeks after A school.  Our son is an AZ.  He chose a squadon based in San Diego, but it was already deployed when he graduated.  So, instead of heading west, it was off to join up with the aircraft carrier on the other side of the world

First year in the Navy and he's seen so much of the world already.

Hi! My son LOVED Meridian. He isn't an LS but he was there as a pre-submariner. From Meridian your son will be assigned his ship...will be on the surface or on a sub?

Our son hasn't been home for Christmas in two years but has been home shortly thereafter. He joined in February, so he had been in almost a year when Christmas came around. He had had the chance to save up some money and leave.

Wow, it seems so weird to say two years...I remember so clearly when he first joined up and I was so afraid for him and sad for myself. If your son goes onto a sub, please make sure you let me know...there are some things you need to be aware of. Your son has made a great choice and I hope he loves the Navy as much as my son does.
