I know that many have probably been through this, but it's a first for us. My son is a 17 year old senior (just turned 17 in September) and its looking at the navy, or I should say strongly leaning toward the navy. He goes to meps Sunday to take his nuclear engineering test Monday. I'm praying he passes so that the stress and worry will be lessened for him. Right now his biggest fear is leaving home and wondering how he can do it. He has talked about joining the military since he was in the seventh grade and I can't imagine how he will feel if he walks away from this opportunity.
All prayers and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
if people have earn a college degree first they have something to fall back on and other college grads do not have to look down on Mililitary people who do not have a college degree. most military people do not have college all they have is babies and lot of babies since the military pays for the babies.
He's actually looking at the navy to help pay for college. We already have one child in college, and he doesn't have the act score to get a scholarship, so he's looking for help with the tuition. He was first looking at reserves then the opportunity for nuclear engineering came up. Since its very close to the degree he would be looking at in college he decided to try for it. I normally would agree with you but my son's thinking is completely different on this one. If he doesn't make it into the nuclear engineering he will most likely go on to college and work his tail off to pay for it because he doesn't want to take anything from anyone. Thanks for your input.
