Fort Gordon

Does anyone know anything about Fort Gordon?  All I know is that it is in Georgia.

Hi 1 Proud Mom- our CTI is going there next year at some point after DLI.  It's a nice place and in Augusta, GA and about an 2.5 hours from Atlanta.  GORGEOUS place to be- you can be in the Appalachian and Smokey Mountains in about 3.5 hours (skiing/snowboarding/hiking), you are a couple hours drive to Orlando, about 4 hours to Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, or Charleston, SC.  The base is primarily US Army but decent amenities and a brand new technology building that your CTI will work at.   The CTIs there mainly use Ft. Gordon as their base camp so to speak and deploy for weeks or months for assignments and then return.  At Ft. Gordon, they keep studying their language and keep up with other CTI rate technical and general USN military training.   Any leave your CTI will get will almost always have to be around the time they are back at Ft. Gordon.  It's not impossible but very rare to be deployed somewhere, often at confidential locations, and take leave there to come home.  It may seem tough but actually it's much easier for them to plan things around.  I suggest if at all possible you take some vacation and go visit your CTI there and explore the areas I mentioned above.  It's a wonderful area.
