Happy New Year's Eve Eve!

Happy New Year Michigan Navy Mom’s/parents.  Is there anyone interested in meeting up for a bite to eat? I live in Iakland County.

PKM - If I lived in MI I would be up for a meeting!  But now that my son and DIL are pregnant with our first grandbaby I'll be visiting more so maybe on one of my trips there we can meet up.  I'm always up for meeting new Navy moms.  ;-D

Praying for Michigan and MSU after the active shooter event last night.  I was on the phone with my DIL (who is a graduate student at MSU) when she got the alert to "run, hide, fight - active shooter on campus".  She was at home but it was still very scary as she had friends on campus.  It's heartbreaking the number of these shootings that keep happening.

It was terrifying. I listened to three hours of it on the police scanner. Going in and searching buildings I knew so well. Knowing it all started in a building I took many classes in. And the Union I spent many hours hanging out or studying it. I will never understand. My heart is broken. For the families and my fellow Spartans. (I did a check on everyone I know who has kids there. All are safe. And a friend who lives less than a mile from campus). Even though I am no longer there, East Lansing was the only place that has ever truly felt like home to me. 

Shanny - these shootings are becoming more and more frequent and yes, they are terrifying.  We just had another recently here in SoCal - 11 people were killed and then the shooter took his own life - after he was stopped from shooting up another place that he went to.

I just don't understand :(

I will never understand this need to hurt and kill others like this. This person was a 43 year old with no affiliation to the university at all. The age of the parents of most of these students. To terrorize an entire community like he did…. I just don’t get it

DIL is officially at 30 weeks now (as of this past Saturday) and we head out on Thursday to MI for the baby shower!  I can't wait to see them and celebrate little Oli!

I just wish your weather would warm up a little bit lol!

17 days until the due date for our grandson!  I can hardly contain myself!  Doctor thinks he's already over 8 lbs and says if he continues growing at the rate he is they may have to schedule a c-section.  Of course this worries B&C a bit but I remind them that we just want to make sure she has a safe delivery.  Everything has been going so great in her pregnancy thus far and this is just sort of throwing a wrench in their plans.  I know everything will work out in the end.  Flights are booked for MI in June!

Getting close for our grandbaby......C feels great still and everything is ready. I'm so excited!!!

B'sNukeMoM, I am so excited for you!  Prayers for everything to go smoothly for B&C&grandbaby.  Definitely keep us posted.  I've been quiet on here due to work load but tax season is now mostly behind me so I'll keep an eye open for updates. Woohoo!

Thank you WaterLily and LoriM!  I'll definitely keep you all updated.  I just wish I was there in MI now!  We don't fly out until 6/10 for a week.  B will be off for 3 weeks with C once Oliver arrives so we are giving them some time alone...  But this Lollie sure can't wait!!!!!

Just got the call from C - they are to be at the hospital at 9am on Tuesday!  I'm gonna be a Lollie soon ;-D

Oh, hopefully B&C get plenty of rest this weekend!  They'll need it.  The day is getting so close!

WaterLily - I don't know how much rest they will get.  C wanted her dirt for her garden boxes delivered on Monday.  Well the MI weather didn't cooperate so it got pushed to Tuesday and then finally delivered yesterday!  They spent part of the day moving it to the back yard and her plan is to get it finished up this weekend - and all her veggies planted!  They'll finish moving it today and then let the planting begin.  I told her this might put her in to labor lol!

They had their final ultra sound today - technician told them that Oliver is weighing in at 9lbs 11 oz +/- 8oz!  Boy I hope they are incorrect lol!

Well they just got a call from the hospital telling them they have nurses there now and to head over!  So they are on their way!  Gah this is crazy.......

Baby Oliver was born at 12:05am 5/13/23.  Almost 60 hours in labor but everyone is doing great!  He ended up being smaller than they thought - 9lbs 3oz, but a lot longer - 22.5" long! They were in the hospital from Wednesday until Sunday afternoon.  Talk about exhausting.....I can't wait until we head to MI on 6/10.

Oh such wonderful news!!!  Congratulations on the special little addition to your family!  I'm so excited to hear it went well after the long labor and that everyone is doing great.  June 10 seems far off but it'll be here before you know it.  

I sure hope they got all that dirt moved before they headed to the hospital LOL!!!
