Hi everyone. Just to let you know I herd from Lifermom the other day and she has been having Sinus problems so she hasn't been able to get on. She said that she will be back as soon as possible.Just keep her in your prayers. She said to tell everyone Hi for her."Hi everyone".She misses everyone.
I hope everyone had a great Mothers Day. My boys got me the new Nikon S230 touch screen camera. We had lunch at Red Lobster(my favorite). I talk to my daughter and that was great. Everything seems to be going great for her. She has a new puppy"Fancy". She is going to be a very small baby.We call her a Pomawawa- I am going to have to add her picture to the site. I did add some new pictures. My yougest graduates this year from high school this year.
Hey Guam family! How are things going with everyone? My child Heather will be home in a few weeks-we are so excited. We haven't seen her in 14 months. It has been some time since I have been on here.Just wanted to come by and checkon everyone.
Hey everyone! it's sometime since I have been on here. My dughter Heather got to come home for 28 days. It was the first time in 14 months. We had a great time with her-we stayed busy.I took pictures of everything. I have them downloaded on my computer but I still have to download on to the sites.Hey Kristen- I am glad that Maryssa is doing great. It's hard to believe that Heather has been there for 2 years in June.
hello all! I am not a guam mom, but a guam fiance. i am getting prepared to move there to marry my sailor. he is stationed there already. i am overjoyed to get married and overwhelmed planning the move on my own (because he got his first orders before being married so there is no assistance)!
Joeena, thank you so much. I am an older fiance. That is why I like to say LivNLrn, lol! I will be sure to post pics and I think we will tape it to send to his mom in case she can't fly out. We didn't expect she would, but she mentioned it and we'd love to have her. Times are tough all over so we understand if she can't do it. And we don't expect her to. His family is very supportive of the notion of us getting married- thank goodness because that is so important to me!
I am really sorry to hear that Tina. My DF got there recently so he doesn't have a vehicle to get around yet. But he likes to help whenever he can. He is sleeping right now, but I give him a wake up call in a few hours so I will definitely tell him. Hope your nephew is better soon. I will PM you too.
Becky, so sorry to hear about your mom. I think telling your son depends very much on his make up and his relationship with her. He may use this as fuel to do his best or he may be distracted. You could also wait until you have more definitive results. I am praying for the best possible news.
Wow, Tina, your nephew is amazing! Still hoping for speedy recovery! If my DF hears from him I will sure let you know and when he is able to commute over to the hospital I will let you know that too. Stay strong.
Hi Teresa! My DF loves it there. It took a while to get used to the heat. His living quarters are nice. And there is a cafe called "Single Sailors" where he can go to connect to the internet, and enjoy media and games until he gets settled with his own computer or laptop if he will have one. DF bought a bike when he first got there to get around to the store and work. Sometimes fellow sailors would even give him a ride. And he recently bought a used car there. When we marry he will have to extend for a year and he says "why wouldn't we? I LOVE it here!" I only hope I love it as much! :)
Hi Tahl1! Take a look a the discussion forum above about Mailing Stuff to Guam. If you use a Priority box with the post office you can ship all you can pack in it for a flat rate under $11. Also you can ship larger boxes via Parcel Post up to 20X20X20/ up to about 54lbs (its is actually any shape up to 108" girth which explained on USPS.com). Also, anything you ship greater than 16oz requires a customs form. When a merchant wouldn't ship direct to my fiance's FPO box, I signed up with APObox.com, which gives you your own address you can put in the shipping info box on your order, when APObox.com gets it they immediately ship it out. I recently had good luck with that.
USPS offers a military shipping kit too. Call 1-800-610-8734, press 1 and ask for "military pack".
Happy Thanks Giving to you all as well. I hope each of your sailors on Guam got to enjoy a good meal and good laughter. Mine had his a day earlier (the cook was going to have to work on Thanks Giving) and really enjoyed himself.
my fiance give me an easy way to remember the time difference. whatever the time is - flip it! then add 3 hrs (EST). so if it is 1pm here, it is 1am+3hrs (4am) there. that really helped me!
Woot woot! That is awesome! I know you must be THRILLED! My FI just told me that over the holidays he has 10 days "off" and we will probably both go stir crazy being apart. Normally, being off is nice. Oh well.
Sandy I am sorry to hear that your son got robbed. The good thing is that he wasn't home to welcome his unwanted guest. Hopefully he will get his stuff back. I hope everyone has a Great Christmas.Last year was our girls first Christmas in Guam-We sent her gifts and then webcam while she opened her gifts. It was alot of fun and we felt like we spent Christmas with her.
I mailed Heather's package the 14th and she picked it up on the 21st.from the post office on base.I paid alittle more for 3 day delivery. We talked to Heather this morning. She enjoyed getting her package of gifts. In fact she is suppose to wear one outfit tonight when she goes out to eat with friends.I hope ya'll have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Don't worry - we are fine!!! I will keep you informed throughout the day. I am on Big Navy. There are tsunami evac routes here, many hills and mountains. If anything will get alarms and warnings to move. Has to hit Hawaii first, I am sure...pray not!
Just drove my DH to his ship and he will call me with any news. I am watching CNN and local channels- no discussion or breakthrough alert messages yet on the local channel about us, just talking about Hawaii.
Although there still hasn't been a local alert of any kind, I did just get an email from my OMBUDSMAN letting us know the projected wave activity time here would not be til around 1:15PM our time, if anything. So at least everyone should be well awake and hopefully will have contacted you by then to let you know they are safe and well.
Yayyyy!!!! Thanks so much for the info Cndysac!!!! I haven't seen this yet. Checking it out now. We were just seeing the first reports that Hawaii "dodged a bullet" thus far and were thinking we will probably be fine after all!
As I was driving back from lunch break with DH the large digital emergency billboard that had been erected on the side of the road said "TSUNAMI WARNING CANCELED"
Just heard about this site - it is awesome to find Mom's of the USS Buffalo! What a great idea! My son has been there since October, what a time difference from the east coast!
Hi Nancy! My husband lived off his laptop, mp3, and Xbox when he arrived. Got a cell phone and car here. We skyped/yahoo'd/oovoo'd and every other type of webcam messenger to keep in touch for free. We are having a great experience here. The key is not to rely on just drinking and clubs to have a social life here. There are those who are lonely/ depressed who just "party" or recluses who don't get out and enjoy the beauty of the island at all. I was surprised there are several shopping malls and movie theatres, a small "city" of Tumong with shopping and restaurants (DH took me there for Valentine's Day), villages with flea markets, amazing beaches, hiking and scuba diving. It really is what you make of it. I wish him a safe trip!
Hi Britt, we are on Guam and my husband is on the Cable. My situation is a little different. He came in Sept last year and I flew here in January to marry him. All is well. He is E3. You may have a fair chance, as marriage housing doesn't seem to be terribly tight here. They may need to replace some of those who are departing. Best of luck to you!
