Mimito4, I am also in Rowlett very close to Rockwall. My son went in March 2012, and now he is stationed in Italy. It is very hard being so far away, but boot camp was the hardest time for me. It is still hard now, and I realize I will always cry when he leaves! I miss him so much. He is our oldest and first to leave home.

Ladies of DFW Group.  I am sorry, but life just keeps holding me from attending the dinners.  I have had a rough month between having the H1N1 flu and some other things going on.  I am determined I am going to make the February dinner!

I was a terrible mess for the first two weeks. You will receive one short call telling you "mom I've arrived love you, bye" Two weeks later expect a box with all his personal things. It will be at least 2-3 weeks before you hear from him. I slept with my phone close to me just in the case he called. He will call at random if their crew passes review they get time off to visit Chicago or catch up with sleep. Write to him often its the only way to communicate with them. He will be fine mom, best of luck!

Hello ladies, haven't been on in quite a while. My son has been in for 2 yrs now, I have yet made it to a dinner. Would love to and always put it on my calender but the last year and a half I have been in school and haven't made one yet. I am in grand prairie.

Hi Bonnie-Codysmom- we live in Athens. my son is going to do electronics so after BC he will be staying in GL for A school. what about your son?

my son left 1/14/2014, from San Antonio to Great Lake, Illinois for BC, received my safe  call from my him at 130am, 1/15/2014, then my "kid in the box" on 1/17/2014, that is where I am now.  N4M has helped me understand what is going on and what to expect.  Thanks!!! 

Aggiemom, I know Athens well, I went to school in Athens for 2 years, still go to alumni games sometimes and Cardette Reunions :).  Lots of wonderful memories there.  I grew up in Combine but now live in West Texas.  My S.R. will be graduating Boot Camp in 2 weeks (good Lord willing).

Hello, we live in Houston.  My grandson Sean graduated boot camp in Great Lakes, Chicago Jan 24.  He got into So. Carolina yesterday where he is in A school, nurclear training.  I am new to all of this web-site stuff, but want to learn and keep up. Sean loved boot camp, challenges and all.  When we saw him at graduation and saw him stand still for 2 1/2 hours I knew they worked miracles with him.  Before then, when he was still, he wasn't still. 

Hi everyone! My son graduated BC on January 17th. He is now in Gulfport, MS for Sea Bee school. Navy for Mom's really helped me during the BC time. I learned so much and it helped me with the PIR. Its a crazy time up there. Thought I might freeze to death up there. LOL

I live in the DFW area in Roanoke. How often does this group get together?

Hello all. My son left for BC on Wednesday. He is Ship 02 Div 920.

Is there any area Waco mom's? I would be willing to work out where a group could meet.

I'm organizing a packing party (Molly's Adopt a Sailor) for February 19, 5pm, Harlingen in the Rio Grande Valley. 

Is there any Victoria Mom's? 

I have a sailor now!  His PIR was this past Friday (1/31/24).  Awesome experience!  Now that's how a graduation should be done!  He is now in Goose Creek, SC for nuke school and will be an EM.  I am going to try again to make it to the dinner this month.  May nothing stand in my path this time!

Slylett - i have not received anything from my son. hoping the box arrives today. i am not thinking he would have been in an 800 or a 900 division, so maybe that's why you got all your info earlier? Congrats Stephen'sMom on your new sailor! woo hoo to you and yours!

Hi!  I'm really new to all this.  My son leaves for boot camp in 5 days.  This is all the unknown for me.

I am in San Antonio as well. My son is in GC in the NUKE program.  We have a group of our own that I started but we haven't been very active.  Any ideas?
