@eliliam46: My dad worked at Bell over 30 years! He was a maintenance instructor and former Navy. My son wants to work on aircraft computers. I would love for him to work with helicopters too.
Lynn and Elilam we must meet someday. we are all so close. Ive been here a long time. Elilam my youngest went to Birdville High and played indoor soccer at Nytex! AND we LOVE hockey!!!! Lynn - your maybe 10 minutes from me!! This just makes me happy! Noone really understands what we moms go though except us!! So glad I got on this site!!!!!!!!!!
Geraley T, my son is at Little Creek. My husband was stationed in Norfolk between 1996 and 2000 on board the USS Enterprise so my son lived there when he was a toddler to preschool age. Pretty cool how it's all coming back around!
Hi East Texas Moms...I'm in Dallas and have loved being part of a group that meets monthly for dinner. But I'm moving to Tyler in a month and will be looking for some Navy Moms to get to know there. Please keep me posted if you get together some time.
Hello CheriH from Mark's mom( Lisa) in Mineola (around Tyler). That would be awesome for us East Texas moms to get together sometime. I definitely want to get to know some East Texas Navy Moms.
Count me in! And yes to Firefighter - Im partial to them anyway - my son-in-law is one in little rock, arkansas and my youngest son is about to enroll in college to be a firefighter.
I am from a small rural community in Texas called Farrsville...Our closest two cities would either be Burkeville, Tx or Jasper, Texas...My Son joined the Navy in Jan 2012 and graduated bootcamp in March of 2012.. He is currently stationed in Washington State. My daughter recently left for bootcamp on July 22, 2014.. Her PIR is 09/19/2014... I look forward to visiting and chatting with everyone.. Her group is Ship 03 division 293.
Having a BC "Send Off" party tommorrow for my son. Looking for last minute ideas and suggestions to make this memorable for him. If you had one for your son/daughter, what made it very special for him/her. Any ideas appreciated!
I put together a video/picture collage. I included a picture of each guest with my son, ranging from birth to the week before. He and the guests got to see how they were woven together in life and memories. My son doesn't like all the attention, so this let him say thanks to those who had brought him to this huge crossroads.
Mark's mom... It is hardest during their time is BC, limited communication and constant worry about their safety, etc. But when you get to see them march into that big hall during PIR, the pride you feel knowing that you raised a helluva seaman makes all of it worth the sleepless nights. It gets easier when they get to A school and they can have cell phones and laptops. I am entering my third year of being a Navy mom. The worrying is still there but I now he is in good hands.
Thank you Geraley T. I knew joining this group was the best thing I could do, because of all the support of moms who have gone through this and those who are just beginning. I am so proud and filled with joy, but my heart aches too. And he is not even gone yet! I will be okay and so will he! Graduation will be here before I know it.
I'm from Weslaco, TX. That's about 1 hour from South Padre Island and along the border. My daughter reported to BC on 8/5. I miss her terribly but I know in my heart she is doing well and is safe. My Faith will sustain me.
