I don't know how to use this website! But I saw that you are in Port A, I live in Port O'Connor less than 1 1/2 hours north of you. Would love a meet and greet. My son is in Div 038, PIR 12/11. I will be flying in on 12/10.
Mary Frances, I just have to second that comment and laugh WITH you; "I don't know how to use this site". Lol. And I take all the 'credit'. Ha.
Ive been on since september, and I am no doubt , not tech savy. Or perhaps worse!!
This site was my life line when my son went to bootcamp. He's now in A school and his twin brother just married and heads to meps next week to start his journey.
Oh my. These sites are so full of info and support! !!!!! And for some reason, I think I only partially utilized them and connected due to my inability to navigate properly. Ha!!!!
Howdy Texas Moms….any TX moms with sailors in Yokosuka? My son will go later this month. Graduated from YN A school this week and no waiting on security clearance.
Hi. I lived in Yokosuka in 1986-89. Husband was stationed there. I loved Japan and our time there!!! We adopted our first and oldest child there. A Japanese baby boy, turned 26 yrs old 11/28!!
Our twin sons & their best friend joined the Navy together 2 yrs ago. The bf is like our son too, he is in Yokosuka. He's been there about a year & seems to like it.
My son is in basic now. His PIR is 1/8/16 with A school immediately following. We don't know where he'll be stationed yet but he is hoping for Yokosuka
I haven't written in a while. I have a son on the Reagan as wel. He switched over from the Washington in San Diego. He has been in Yokosuka for almost a year and loves it there. He is my middle son. Oldest is stationed in San Diego will go to Hawaii next year and youngest is in A school in VA. I'll get to see 2 out of 3 at New Years. SO EXCITED about that.
Hello TXMoms (Doubletrouble; I'm technically a TXMom because my children including the sailor in the pic was born in Ft. Worth and where I once lived and married. I later had to moved back home. My son is in Yokosuka, he loves it! He was home for Thanksgiving and left us some foreign money from China, Singapore, Australia, and Korean. It was his 1st deployment this year as well T-shirts (that's too small because we are not small stature like Asians). He is CS3 (cook) and today is the pinning ceremony, he ranked up Petty Officer 3rd class.
Mama_c, once a Texan, always a Texan! Glad he likes Yokosuka, it makes our life easier as moms if they are happy where they are at especially that far away.
We are in Abilene, about 150 mile west of Ft. Worth, down I-20.
Hi everyone, I haven't been on in a while but I have a 2nd son about to join the Navy. He is at MEPS right now. It's crazy how fast the time goes! Does the Texas Group still get together for dinner or anything? I hope everyone is doing great! It's good to be back!
We got our letter..... OMG! This is one proud mom! She sounded great! Said she was making friends and has past her tests so far..... She said there food was good, except for the eggs... Lol! She has a recruit job - section leader. She stated it was alot of responsibility.... This makes me so happy, so proud, and so relieved that she is embracing this experience. Thank you all for holding me up, when I could not...
Good Morning Texas Moms! I just jointed the group. My daughter left for Boot Camp 2/9 (from Florida) but I live in Clear Lake, TX. I received "the box" and "the form letter" this week. She is on Ship 11 with PIR date of 4/1.
Thank you smbaggie94. Where is the process is your loved one? Marthab what about you? Not exactly new to this process my son was in the Army. But these first few weeks untill you hear from them are always the worst.
My grandson was in the Nuke program in his second school (power school) and then got re-rated and is now back in Great Lakes studying gas turbine systems as an electrician.
We will be packing care packages for the monthly adoption sponsored by Molly's Adopt a Sailor on March 6 in Donna, Texas. Items needed--wipes, drink packets and MIO type water bottle flavorings, candy that won't melt, beef jerky, etc. CARDS and LETTERS! Check the events calendar for more info.
Ok ladies, use this link to sign up for the painting class on March 26. The password is Anchor. Not sure about capitalization. Every Houston Area Navy mom is welcome. — with Helen Cavender King and 7 others.
Missouri City, Tx Mom.... My Son just left for BC on February 16th..... Just received letter that he is in Div 149, Ship 04..... Any other Mother from Missouri City ?
Hi Everyone -- Have not been on in awhile since my 1st son is in the fleet and been deployed once already and gearing up for another. He is in San Diego on the Makin Island
My other son is in BC with a PIR 3/25 and has had alot of support from the other one and all of us. Thank goodness we have a friend who is in "A" school waiting on him to PIR since he will be "A" schooling up there with her.
My son received his orders for after A school....San Diego to work with the Marines. Didn't expect that one! Question....does 15 days of leave me sequential or 5 days per week? Also can the travel voucher be used for anything other than flying directly from Chicago to San Diego?
Does anyone know if there are local families in Norfolk that host sailors? I sure would like to see him connect with a nice family. He is stuck in the shipyard there and is going a little crazy.
Laura if you don't get much response here for that I would suggest checking out some of the FB groups for Navy mom's. It's pretty active with new info all the time. They have been a lifesaver as we've been preparing for my son to leave for RTC tommorow! Good luck!
Bookworm, I am a member of the DFW Navy Mom Facebook group, another local group. We meet for dinner the third Thursday of every month, at various restaurants between downtown Dallas and 635. We are meeting on Thursday, the 17th, at Ziziki's at Preston/Forest, 7:00 pm. We would love for you to join us!
