I don't know how to use this website! But I saw that you are in Port A, I live in Port O'Connor less than 1 1/2 hours north of you. Would love a meet and greet. My son is in Div 038, PIR 12/11. I will be flying in on 12/10.

  • Texasmom

Mary Frances, I just have to second that comment and laugh WITH you; "I don't know how to use this site". Lol. And I take all the 'credit'. Ha.
Ive been on since september, and I am no doubt , not tech savy. Or perhaps worse!!
This site was my life line when my son went to bootcamp. He's now in A school and his twin brother just married and heads to meps next week to start his journey.
Oh my. These sites are so full of info and support! !!!!! And for some reason, I think I only partially utilized them and connected due to my inability to navigate properly. Ha!!!!

I haven't written in a while.  I have a son on the Reagan as wel.  He switched over from the Washington in San Diego.  He has been in Yokosuka for almost a year and loves it there.  He is my middle son.  Oldest is stationed in San Diego will go to Hawaii next year and youngest is in A school in VA.  I'll get to see 2 out of 3 at New Years.  SO EXCITED about that.

Hello TXMoms (Doubletrouble; I'm technically a TXMom because my children including the sailor in the pic was born in Ft. Worth and where I once lived and married.  I later had to moved back home. My son is in Yokosuka, he loves it!  He was home for Thanksgiving and left us some foreign money from China, Singapore, Australia, and Korean.    It was his 1st deployment this year as well T-shirts (that's too small because we are not small stature like Asians).  He is CS3 (cook) and today is the pinning ceremony, he ranked up Petty Officer 3rd class.

  • doubletrouble

Mama_c, once a Texan, always a Texan! Glad he likes Yokosuka, it makes our life easier as moms if they are happy where they are at especially that far away.
We are in Abilene, about 150 mile west of Ft. Worth, down I-20.
  • TexasBird(Robin)

We got our letter..... OMG! This is one proud mom! She sounded great! Said she was making friends and has past her tests so far..... She said there food was good, except for the eggs... Lol! She has a recruit job - section leader. She stated it was alot of responsibility.... This makes me so happy, so proud, and so relieved that she is embracing this experience. Thank you all for holding me up, when I could not...

My other son is in BC with a PIR 3/25 and has had alot of support from the other one and all of us.  Thank goodness we have a friend who is in "A" school waiting on him to PIR since he will be "A" schooling up there with her.

Just checking into see how everyone is doing.

  • lishager

My son received his orders for after A school....San Diego to work with the Marines. Didn't expect that one! Question....does 15 days of leave me sequential or 5 days per week? Also can the travel voucher be used for anything other than flying directly from Chicago to San Diego?

  • Laura from Tx.

Does anyone know if there are local families in Norfolk that host sailors?  I sure would like to see him connect with a nice family.  He is stuck in the shipyard there and is going a little crazy.

  • cmm1974tx

Laura if you don't get much response here for that I would suggest checking out some of the FB groups for Navy mom's. It's pretty active with new info all the time. They have been a lifesaver as we've been preparing for my son to leave for RTC tommorow! Good luck!

  • Laura from Tx.
