Hello!  I'm a new Navy mom from Frisco, TX. My son left on March 2 for boot camp. I'm so glad I found this site and this group.  This Navy thing is all new to me and my family so it's great to know we're not alone on this journey.

  • harpist mom

D-Mom, You are welcome to join us at Ziziki's at Preston Forest at 7:00 p.m. There will be at least one or two other moms there who are new to the group. Hope to see you there!

  • SandyB

Hi EvansMom.    You have us now too!    I'm from the Missouri City area.  My son is in Div 149, Ship 4.   His PIR is April 8 and I cannot wait to see him.

This forum has been a godsend to me because I never knew it would be so nerve wracking knowing if they are doing well, etc.  The information that is shared is comforting and I feel, all us mothers have a special bond.

Its funny, I travel the world for work but knowing he is going to be doing the same or the fact that he's not here,  kills me.   We just need to trust that we've instilled good morals and virtues and let them spread their wings and fly....

  • Tracysmom

  • Anchormom

Still trying to figure all of this out.
  • lyz

Hi All! I'm from League City. My boy doesn't leave for boot camp until August 29th, but I've already begun checking out this site. I don't get much information from him, so I imagine I'll have to rely on y'all for instructions on the whats and whens. He's chosen CTN and will go to A school in Pensacola, so if you have any scoop about this, bring it on. I.KNOW.NOTHING.  Thanks! -lyz

  • Anchormom

Dsmom-thank you. I'm just getting familiar with the website. Tracysmom commented that she is looking for Aaron's mom from Texas. Last name starts with R, so I'm a little anxious to hear back from her.

Good Morning moms. SandraJ, my son just graduated this past weekend also. He is still at Great Lakes also. However he leaves in 2 weeks. He is off to A school in VA.

  • smbaggie94

Morning!  Is there a North Houston/Spring/Conroe mom's group by chance?

  • lisacast1277JACNavyMom

Hello Texas Moms:) saying hello from Austin, TX... My son is stationed in Japan and is in his 3rd year of service. So very proud of my handsome young man:)
  • liltxnavymom

There is a facebook group that is called Navy for moms houston area, they just did a painting w/a twist this past weekend, which looked like fun but my daughter was sneaky and came home a week early from A school and surprised us, Hooyah!  Now there is a group that meets in the Humble area called Blue Star Moms, I haven't been able to meet with them yet. They meet once a month and they get together to do things for all branches. Would be nice to have a Navy mom get together like the NDMoms, I am in the Spring/Woodlands area so if we have enough moms in the area willing there are plenty of places we could meet around the north Houston area.I am a new mom to all this.

  • liltxnavymom

lisacast....yes you should be proud, wow Japan that is nice. My cousin was on a destroyer in Japan but I don't he was there quite that long.  Safe travels to you son.

  • Mandy

Lisacast, is there an Austin group? I'm up in Williamson county. Would love to connect!
  • lishager

"Mandy" I'm located in Austin....also in Williamson county. My son is flying home today for a visit before moving on to his first assignment in San Diego.

  • RyansMom

Houston Area Navy Moms. Check out our Facebook page. Request to join. Watch your junk folder as the approvals tend to go there. Moderator is Helen King. We just had a painting outing last week. Will meet in April as well. I'm in Tomball.
  • SuziQ

We live in the Conroe area and my son just started on March 21st.  He graduates from basic May 13th!  I'm so excited for him. He'll be staying in Great Lakes for A School too.  I love seeing how many other moms are going through the same thing as me!  What a great website!  Still waiting to hear from my son.  We got the first call, the box, and the form letter.  Can't wait to hear how he's doing...

  • BlueMom11

Hello Texas Moms!! So happy meet to everyone and be part of this group. :) I'm still getting organized on here and learning about the Navy way of life. My son recently left for bootcamp. It's a week today since he left and we just got his box yesterday. Are there any mom's from the south Texas area, anywhere between South Houston and Galveston?
  • smbaggie94

Hi Terces, thank you for the info!  It would depend on where the Houston group meets if I could make it or not.  I also have to elementary age kids so it makes it hard if not close to home.

  • Ejsmom

Is there a group for dfw moms not in dallas, more on the Fort Worth side?

  • Tx Mom of Far Away Nuke

  • Tx Mom of Far Away Nuke

I'm NW of Fort Worth and I work in Fort Worth so I would be interested in a Fort Worth group!  :)

  • tsufish

The group is mixed. There is a group on Facebook. However most meetings are in the Grapevine/Frisco/Allen area. I'm in south Ft Worth so I have never been able to make one.
  • Ejsmom

tsufish and Kimberlydi Far Away Nuke, would you be interested in getting together sometime?  I am nw of fw as well.  Maybe we could meet in Hulen or someplace like that.  Also, I wonder if there would be a way to make a Fort Worth or some other title group for the West part of the metroplex?

  • tsufish

I would love to get together!
  • Ejsmom

I sent you a friend request along with some other moms that I saw that live on this side of FW.

  • mary

I would also love to get together !! I am in Grand Prairie, South side.
  • Ejsmom

OK FW moms, First, I was wondering if we might want to meet downtown FW somewhere if people are coming from all directions.  Also, would a weeknight, weekend night or weekend day work better?  Let me know what you think.  Everyone is welcome!

  • mary

I have a rotating schedule. I get my schedule for the month at the beginning of each month. Probably a weekend day would be best for me.
  • Cowtown mama

I also am in FW - just west of downtown in the W. 7th area.  I would love to be included in any gatherings in the FW area.  My son is on his 5th year and I have seen him only once in that time! Well, twice if you count the 4 hours after Boot Camp.  I would really love to get to know some of the other mothers in the area.  So please let me know if you have anything planned or if I can help make it happen.

  • Ejsmom

OK, a weekend day would work for me.  I am going to just try and work it out where the most people could come.  I would think Saturday rather than Sunday lunch-ish would work best but please let me know.  I am thinking a Saturday in June.  So if a Saturday would or wouldnt work for you please let me know.  There are some fun restaurants on South 7th Street or we could find something downtown.  Open to anything. :)

  • MarlaMama

How about Saturday, June 4, somewhere off West 7th. Rodeo Goat? Thirteen Pies? Or Brewed on Magnolia? We're busy getting our sailor ready to go after that. Lunch? 2:00? 4:30? 6:00?
  • Texasmom

One of my twin sons went to bc last sept, graduated nov, then to corry for ctn Then his twin brother joined navy, secf, scheduled for shipout next week 5/17.was told at meps that he missed ctn qualifying by 1-2 points in one area on asvap, tho he made higher score than his twin bro, ctn. My son Got called in to recruiters office today by chief, and told navy had put in wrong social security nbr for him and he can't shipout in 7 days, that they've been unable to correct it!? Interesting! Anyway, so they are discharging my son, and he has to go back to meps, retake asvap etc, start all over. Sounds crazy, but , oh well. I am not complaining because my son had actually recently spoke to chief to express his concern and interest in going ctn, rather than secf. Okay, point is, this twin is married and wud appreciate the land based ctn field. My other son joined navy to travel, went ctn at meps, then learned it was land based. Lol
Soo, future sailor son was encouraged by chief to stick wth secf. But then today encountered this news. Lol
I've been praying for God's guidance and direction in my son's careers, paths, etc, and particularly wth newly married headed off to busy subs schedules. And then, this news!!! Sooo we are all schocked, yet happy for this opportunity for son to retest and possibly rerate, for what mite be a better path for him. Altho I do admit it all seems a bit concerning that outside of a God thing, that the navy cud screw up like this And not be able to fix it. He's waited past 6 mths for this upcoming day next week and many of us have planned our lives around it.
Any suggestions!! What best resources to study to enhance asvap svore. He already scored high, qualifying for secf, but wants ctn badly. Also, is there any negotiating room for him at meps? He has said if they don't give him ctn, if he qualifys, that he's gonna go meet wth airforce. Yur thoughts??
  • Mandy

Wow! Texasmom(I'm a Texmamamtoo), God just should me that my son having to hang back for 2 weeks after graduation for a signature is nothing compared to what you guys have gone through! I love hearing that you are rooted in God's will for your boys!! I'll pray for you guys!!
  • mary

I would love to be included in our luncheons however I just started a new job. Schedule will be pretty rough for next month, maybe July for me.
  • lishager

Are there any other Austin or North of Austin Navy moms out there?

  • Mandy

Yes, me! North Austin as in the Georgetown area!
  • lishager

"Mandy" I'm looking to connect with some other mom's and it seems that Austin isn't exactly a hotbed of Navy activity LOL. My son came home from before his first posting last month and his first deployment will start in October
