Helen... We're all here for you...sending big ((((((Navy Hugs)))))) your way. Wishing Matt and all his shipmates the best. May they all stay safe, while enjoying their deployment and experience a new adventure.
Sorry all, so much going on and I have been so out of touch as we are babysitting our sweet granddaughter this week. She is 7 months oldcand we are enchanted with her.
Super hugs to my friend Helen as you experience your first deployment. He is in the Navy now!! How s hubby doing?
Karla, that is the best hews about daddy being their the birth of his son...congrats to all!
Debbie, so happy you got a all, I am in nned of one. I missed Nicks last all and stll waiting!
There are different clearances for security for the AECF sailors, even in the FC or E T rate. Some jobs require secret clearance and some top secret clearances.
Congrats r mom, we cannot always be there for their milestones but technology sure allows for some good sharing.
Helen, it's so good that your Nicholas has an opprtunity to attend his arthritis camp. I have a friend who has nursed at an asthma camp and another who nursed at a diabetis camp. They could not say enough about the experience for both the kids and themselves. Having a chronic illness can really mess with a person's body image, self concept, sense of normalcy, the whole nine yards. It's even harder for kids who are just developing all that. At these camps these kids are "normal", which, as we know, is all teenagers dream about. Of course we know that they are better than normal because they have blossomed despite adversity. And we will tell them that. Once they hit twenty-five or so. :-)
Helen....Well, you surely have not been leading a boring life! Kidding aside, I'm happy your hubby is on the mend. Been thinking about you wondering how much sleep you've been getting with Matt just leaving. But with so much going on, hopefully when your head hits the pillow, you're off to dreamland.
I've been a combination of busy and dragging... don't feel like posting all the time. Busy getting stuff together for Burning Man at the end of the month.
They aren't allowed to take leave while waiting for orders. While leave is usually approved between the schools, the C school orders must be in hand so the start date for the school is known. They must be there when the orders come in.
Angie, do the schools at Glakes do the out of bounds chits? P-cola and Goose Creek have been approving them fairly routinely. Heck, my nephew came home from his boat on an OOB chit.
Connie, I'd have to look up the chart, but it is more than passing the exam and having excellent evals. There are points for awards and commendations and such. They even get points for having passed the exam in previous cycles. The more times they've taken it, the more points they have earned.
Awesome picture Mary. To think that mine could be there some day makes me feel a little.... well, I don't know how I feel. He did start A school yesterday. One day on hold. He found out yesterday morning that classes were starting.
Helen.. a package is ready to be sent out. I loved putting it together!!
Yes, sitting on hold, waiting for orders and then Bamm out to the fleet they go and then there are not enough hours in the day. Many of you may have thought six years was along commitment but it goes by fast - many of us in this group will be hitting the four year mark soon.
I read the blog about the CT sailor from the USS Boxer here and on Facebook, the family is getting a lot of support from many areas but the pain his family is going thru is heartbreaking.
Thanks for all the comments on Nicks photo as your sailors head out to the fleet, you will see how valuable a little glimpse of them can be.
Very cute poem - I am surprised we have not seen it before.
Hubby tends to get more emails from our son as he kinda oversees his TSP account and other financial stuff for him when he is deployed. All we do is write ...YOUR money in the subject line and he is always quick to reply!!! LOL
Helen...your son is really a sweetie for sending you all those emails. I wish him all the best...safe journeys, safe "boardings"...with a little fun and adventure thrown in!
Connie and Pam...congrats on the upcoming weddings...your families are growing! Glad you came back to share the good news with us Pam. Nice to meet you!
Won't be online here the rest of the day. The Arizona Navy Moms are hosting a pot luck get together for Rear Admiral Scott Sanders Deputy Commander, USN Second Fleet and mentor to NOSC Phoenix. He is in town for a couple days and requested to meet us! So we'll be partying from 5 to 8pm today with him! We have 50 people coming. How cool, huh? I'll let you know how it goes and try to get some pics.
Helen...the pot luck and the entire event was a big success. Marcy Scott deserves a big thank you for organizing the entire thing. Had tons of delicious food, met wonderful Navy Moms & Dads, and Rear Admiral Sanders impressed us all. He even brought his Mom..and she baked cookies!
He graciously answered any questions we had, and had a few stories of his own to tell. A couple pretty funny ones about pirates.
Only have a couple pics, but I keep getting an error message when trying to post. Will have to figure out what's going on.
Here is the Admirals' biography. You can see he's been a pretty busy man:
Sandy, I am so happy for you. How long has it been since you've seen him? R called this afternoon to say that he had early liberty because he scored high on a Friday exam. An hour later and he was still waiting. I praised him and told him him how proud I was and he got a little emotional. He is missing home right much. I do hope we can plan another trip up there. His papers said he would get to come home in Nov. Is B taking leave to be home for 10 days?
Vickyrun, hadn't seen you on here in a while. Very happy for Chrissy!
BR549, that's how R is. He doesn't want boxes because he really is trying to not gain weight but he says send them anyway and he can share with his buddies. You know he's missing home when he ask me to take a picture of the house and text it to him. Then he asked for a picture of my garden.
Sandy...Yipee...I know you must be so excited. Enjoy that visit! Got your camera ready?
R"sproudmom and BR549...I'll be sending both your sailor's some ((((((navymomhugs)))))). Hope they can feel them! C is also looking forward to a break and coming home to see family and friends.
Thank you Chrissy is happy about it. She drove her new car all the way across the county to come home for leave and she is driving back tomorrow. I think mainly not too disappointeed about not getting San Deigo is cause she has a boyfriend in VI. And her ex said her son could come to VI next summer for a longer visit.
Anti M...The Pentagon, Congress, White House...they all have put their heads where the sun does not shine...
This example and other places they have proposed cuts to deal with the deficit problem are a joke...nickels and dimes in relation to other bigger cuts they could apply to unecessary agendas this country does not need to be involved in. That's my story...and I'm stickin' to it!
Yeah, I usually avoid discussing politics here, I'm pretty liberal, but this is something which people could let their representatives know if they disapprove. This one is squarely on Congress, so personally, I am going to be making calls and writing letters to express my opinion. I even did a news interview this evening!
It just aired, so the link won't be up until tomorrow. I cannot believe they led with that story! I'm a bit floored. LOL, and I think I look so old these days.... but I will post a link as soon as I have one. My part was pretty short, but I think I got the message out... this is no nine to five job, look elsewhere for budget cuts!

You have to sit through a 20 second commercial first. I had much more to say, but they did a good job condensing it into two minutes.
