Hello Ladies. I'm hoping that you can help fill me in. My son is at BC then onto Nuke A School. Well, that has changed now. He had tried to get a waiver to not-so-great finances. It was denyed last week. There is a possibility that he could become a Seabee. I tried to find an active BC group but failed. Anyway, can anyone tell me where A School would be? I'm just trying to understand. I keep telling his GF, he may as well have "Property of US Navy" tattooed on his forehead. Thanks for any info
Joanne I am not worried really, I am happy she has found someone to talk and run around with. I would be worried if she had no friends at all. She has been at the mall this weekend both days. Movies Friday, getting a new phone yesterday and today I think just shopping. That is my worry, all the money she spends. lol
Atleast if she is broke she can still eat! lol
Tobianne, I missed it where is your daughter in A school?
Sara, thank's for the tip I guess it does make a differance on what their job will be, mine is a construction mechanic.
Hello everyone! My husband just graduated BC (11/12), and is headed to A school in Port Hueneme to become a CM for the Seabees. Does anyone have any information on what I can expect?
josteph, all I know is what I hear from my kid who is there right now, the food isn't as good as it was in BC, they have to go through differant phases to get privalages, if one in their group screws up they all screw up. they have to have a buddy anytime they are outside even to go to the NEX, somedays are too hot other's are too cold, they all smoke like crazy cause that's all there is to do until they can phase up and leave the base, the up-side is he will get to call you anytime he gets a chance so that will make things a whole lot easier for both of you, sorry but that's all I know for now and it's hear-say from my kid.
Tobianne- I was just wondering because the young lady in your picture resembles the Sailorette my son flew to Port H with, I thought we had been at the airport at the same time crying our eyes out, but I guess not.
liongirl that is funny Sailorette. I will have to call her that. She usually refers to all of the Seabee's as the sandies!! lol Nope she left for A-school on Sept 27th. She did fly with another Sea Bee just to the base, they were at the AP going the same place, and they both had different flights, he left 10 mins before she did and got to DFW at the same time pretty much. Then they hoped a flight to the next AP. Would have been nice. I do not know any Seabee moms from Ohio. I am sure I could look and find some!! lol
Hi everyone, hope all is well with you and your sailors. Mine is in Gulfport MS and before that was in P.H. for A school. He was happy to get to Gulfport. He all 4 of his wisdom teeth out this morning. I was able to talk with him a little bit and we had a good laugh cause he sure sounded funny. I wish I could be there to take of him but I guess he'll have to depend on his buddies.
Hi all! My son is headed to NAS Ft Worth next week. He just graduated from CECOS in Pt H. Anyone have any info on Ft Worth. I hear it is a large Seabee base and also a JRB for all branches.
I got a text today from my daughter. She fell during a utility pole climbing exercise.
She said she was about 18-19 feet up and slipped out of the hole she had her gaff in, and down she went about 5 feet. Caught herself, but could not recover, so down the rest of the way she went. She says she is ok, but her knee is hurting pretty bad. I told her to go to med call, she says tomorrow if it is still bad. She is going with a few to her chiefs house for dinner, ( I told her to take pepto for his cooking!! Wife and kids are back home) and does not want to miss out if possible. She said that the chief will look at this and just make her go if bad!!
I ask if she still loves it. She says yes, just hates the wind. It is scary up there, she is now understanding why her dad has always said this, he is in construction and the wind has always made his job tough. (Roofer)...
Lou2, 1 proud seabee mom, Kym proud mom & Kim, my son had his A school & is in combat school now in Gulfport, MS. He is a BU. So I think it really is where ever they have the room for A school. If you get a chance to go down there to visit, it is beautiful.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving....Tyler got to be home....our last Thanksgiving, birthday and Christmas that he will be home....next 2 years he'll be deployed.....we're gonna enjoy this December.
Awe Joanie Tyler's mom- what a great pic. I can not wait. We are putting our tree up this week, but I am leaving the Angel off until Kayla gets home, she can put it on top for me. I know how you feel, yes she will also be deployed next Christmas as I am told. So this one will have to be great.
LuvMySeabee- Kayla will be joining them in March, she will finish A-school in Jab and then off to Gulf Port. She is excited to finally get moving. She is learning to trust her senses and trust her fellow SeaBee. She says that is hard to know that something can happen and to not dwell on it (in her case falling) but to keep going!
Hey ladies, My Son gets to come home for Christmas, but does anyone know of a easy economical way to get from Port H to LAX to catch his flight?
Tobianne- I'm glad your daughter is ok after falling, scary!!
My son's leave to come for Christmas was approved, woo hoo!! I can't wait.
Liongirl - when my son was in Port H, he found a ride to LAX or you can a pay a little extra and get a flight out of Oxnard airport. My son said when he left PH he found it to be quicker and actually cheaper to fly out of Oxnard. It doesn't hurt to check into both. Good luck.
I just wanted to say hello, my daughter is at FL as an EO as well. I'm sure they know each other since there are so few of them. I went to visit for Thanksgiving. It was so awesome to see all the kids and their surroundings. It is a huge place out in the middle of no-where! It is nice to know we have one another for support this is a wild and crazy journey!!!!!
Denise, I don't see mine until then either. But as much as I hurt for me not seeing him, I hurt more for his wife and little children not seeing him. He actually gets done with his deployment at the end of March--so he will be with them sooner than he will be with me. And it's all GOOD. Kelley
Awee, I am feeling for all the moms and wives that do not get to be with their SeaBee. I am fortunate this time around, she will be home on the 22nd. Next year though, she will be in deployed. It will be a first and surly not a last of missed Christmas's. We did not get to see her at Thanksgiving. One of her Favs. She likes to say, I'm a fat kid, whats not to love about Thanksgiving!? Her chiefs made sure the ones there were taken care of, and she spent the day eating and relaxing (sleeping really) with her brothers in and sisters. God Bless these families for doing this, her one chief did not even have his wife and kiddo's there. They had gone home for the Holiday, so his father stepped in and helped along with the other chief and his wife.
I will be thinking of all of you, as well as our military deployed. I know that when my time comes others will also be thinking of me and all the moms not with our loved ones.
Denise- I agree about the married ones, worse is if they have children. That hurts us as we so know that feeling.
Kym- Denise is right. If he asks they should be able to tell when. I did hear from mine if they dont deploy before January it'll be august before they go out again. Keep in mind, that's not gospel lol
Yes denise is right, he would just really need to ask.
Sweet look at all of our fighting 40's. The only thing Kayla does not know is which company exactly. My understanding is this is something you may not find out until you are actually at PH.
Denise from Michigan- welcome. You will get a wealth of information here. If you have any questions just ask. We are so fortunate to have Seabee moms that have been down this rd and know a lot and can help.
Tobi- my Seabee has known his company since he got his orders to a school. But said something about that could change. I've already got his apo address
oh wow. I am sure mine will end up in the sandbox at some point. She was happy that she was being sent to Japan, she has a very good (like a brother) friend stationed there. He is Marines, but just found out they will miss each other here at home by like 10 days, he is also being deployed to Afghanistan. So she is now so sad. She is hoping that at some point she will get to see him. He will not be coming home for Christmas as it is so expensive.
Mine is headed to the sandbox in the morning...Now I have an adopted daughter in Japan right now too...She is a Seabee also! Tobi depending on wher our daughter is going she should look her up-shes a great girl! Love her to pieces...
Kayla is going to the Marine base, I think Okinawa is Marine right? How long is this Seabee"ette' gonna be there? Kayla is not sure or has not really looked to see how long she will be there herself.
Seabee wife- good luck with your poochy. My kiddo misses her poochy everyday.
She will not ever be able to have him, unless (Oh man) she gets married and has housing. He is a bit of a silly boy. He is not a breed that is banned any place, however maybe he should be! He is a Corgi. He really goes after lil kids... not mean, he wants them where he wants them! He herds our Dachshund and our cat, then moves to Kayla's younger sister. She is 5 and he tolerates a lot. well ok he does not! He wants her on the couch. If she runs he is on her heels, outside is much crazier. He really does his job, she can not get close to the rd.
Staffy's get a bad rap. It is all in how you raise any dog. Good luck.
Sharon- you to, and congrats on the new addition (even if she walks on 4 paws!) you know you will love to have her as this is just a link to our kids. Thats how things have been here. Her doggy (Murphy) has become my buddy. Poor guy has been through a lot this year. First his best (human) friend leaves and he looks for her when we say her name, and then his best (K9) friend passed away. Our Golden Retriever. That one stung him as much as it did us.
I think these Sailors should be able to have a furry companion! lol I know, they have no space and or time. I just think back to Kayla saying she was never leaving her Chiefs home on Thanksgiving. He has 2 dogs, she had not touched a dog in 5.5 months. She is truly an animal lover.
Seabee Mom- hugs to you. I know so many in here are fighting the urge to cry, and scream. Hang on, He is doing something that he enjoys and we all thank these kids for this. This is how I get through my day.
I will get Christmas this year and then not sure when I will see her next (unless I fly to California which I see in the cards as she is already talking about us visiting her), so I am gonna try and make this the best (lazy) Christmas ever. She wants no FF. All of moms home cooking. Well and she has a list for her grama also! lol

So now it finally arrived and the post office had short hours today and he couldn't get it. He said there was a sign on the door that said Merry Christmas!
Now he's wondering if that means it won't be open until after Xmas. Things are not going well! I don't know what to do. I feel so bad that he's alone and doesn't make friends easy. Anyone have any ideas of what I could suggest he could do?
