Strap your seatbelt Sandy and keep your hands and feet inside the rollercoaster at all times!!

She will be fine. I did see that it is -5 in GL today. Well it is 1 here in Ohio, so pretty close to the same stinky temps. Thing is they will not go out to do any work or pt. I have to go out and do work and it is like "pt". lol

  • Tobianne

Well Kayla is back at the retirement home today. She loves working there. Says so many stories good and bad, but she knows these men and woman gave their all and she thanks (and hugs a few) all of them. They give her encouragement and strength. Many of the men love the fact that woman are part of the military now. More than when most of them were serving.

It is nice for me to get texts saying momma, these men gave so much and they still want to be a part of what they did back when.

  • mom2nw

hang in there, Sandy!  Tobianne was right, it certainly is a roller coaster.  Frankly, I don't know what I would have done with out N4M!! , especially during boot camp.   No body else gets it, but there is support here!

I'm a little peeved that my son doesn't communicate more with me, but I did talk with him briefly last night after I chided him on facebook, and he did call all excited on Sunday (Go Pack Go) before and after the game. just like any other man, I'm not going to be able to change him to fit my needs, lol.

    Welcome to the Seabee Family.

  • Tobianne

How great. So nice to find that someone served with a family member.

Yes Kayla loves going there. She says she will miss it when she starts ECS. I told her she could still go and visit them on the time off. She loves hearing all about how they could "still kick a**" and did not have the great communication and some of the nicer things our kids have today. She has said the best thing she can give these older military is her time (listening) and her thanks. She says it is funny how she is thanking them, and they turn around and say "NO, Thank you.  You could be doing something else and instead you are right here, preparing to support and serve in any condition, when many have taken that high road."

I guess for many, they were drafted and had no choice of branch, but all the same, they were happy to do what they had to.

    evening ladies-

I need to publicly thank one of our moms/wives.

Manda20- This young wife is now with out hubby (for a few more days) but is helping to make Kayla's V-day special. Kays male friend is in TX (AF) he wants to send her flowers, can not send to the base so Manda has agreed to either have them delivered to her place or go and pick them up, as well as the gift the young man sent is going to Manda's apt.

    Thanks Manda, you are wonderful.

Off to the hospital, my sons girlfriend is in labor. Hoping after work today I can share the news of baby.
  • Dana - Ship 11 / Div 361

Hi everyone!  My son has been in Gulfport, MS for little over a week now.  He is studying to be an SW.
  • sherrys (Alumni-Ship 02 Div 911)

Hey Gals/Guys -- I'm new to this Seabee post, but not so new with N4Ms.  My daughter is currently at Gulfport for A-school.  When they were in Great Lakes, IL, for boot camp, we were given the name and number of a great guy who drives a cab out there who does a great job of transporting our sailors!  Does anyone know of a similarly trustworthy cab or transportation for our sailors in Gulfport?  My daughter needs to get to and from the airport for an upcoming weekend leave.  Thanks! ;o)
  • sherrys (Alumni-Ship 02 Div 911)

Halfofawhole...thank you very much for this info! ;o)
  • StaceyinTX

Finally BC is over and my Sailor should be on base in Gulfport...He will be a SW (I think) I can't wait to get his address so I can get him his cell phone. I'm excited to be a Seabee Mom
  • sandy (ship 9 DIV. 126 ) PIR 4/8

hello... i got the box...  no PIR yet. she will be a seabee soon
  • sandy (ship 9 DIV. 126 ) PIR 4/8

GBsMom... where is he going to A-school??
  • BMsWife

Hi everyone! I'm new to the Seabee moms page. My husband just got to Gulfport for A school last week. I was wondering if anyone has feedback for hotels in the area? I am visiting in March and the lodge was booked, so I booked at the days inn then later saw it has bad reviews. Any thoughts?
  • BMsWife

Thanks so much! I didn't know there was the gateway in addition to the lodge. That works out even better.
  • SeabeeWife20

Haven't had internet for awhile and started a new job, so I haven't been able to get on here and see how everyone is doing. So I'm going to catch up in one big post.

Tobianne-thank you so much! It was my pleasure to do that for Kayla. I forced her to be my Valentine and stay the weekend with me in my big lonely house lol. I'm going to miss her once she leaves :(

Robin-your post made me cry. It means so much to me that you would say that. I have told my husband and my family that my goal is to become an Ombudsman. My husband plans to make a career out of the Navy and work his way all the way to the top, and I want to be right by his side the whole way. I LOVE everything the Navy is about and I wish other people understood how wonderful it is. I would really like more information on the program so I can begin the steps to becoming an Ombudsman. Thank you again for your kind words!

On another note, my husband graduated A-School today. He will be coming home to me tomorrow...YAY!! He was given an Honor Award (aka Accelerated Advancement Program) by the OIC, MCPO, and CPO. He is now a rank higher and will be eligible to test for PO3 next month :D I know this is bragging, but I feel like my husband has worked as hard as ever to get to where he is today. Because of that he will be a PO3 before a full year of service, and that is starting out as an E1 in boot camp. Bravo Zulu to my SEABEE!!!!

  • sherrys (Alumni-Ship 02 Div 911)

Manda...BRAVO ZULU is right!!! Congrats to your husband! How very proud you MUST be of him! ;o)
  • Tobianne

Manda- Robin is the ombudsman (still are right Robin), Not sure but I am sure you can get lots of info from her. She was super helpful to me before Kyle went in and gave me so much info about "The Family" you are now a part of. Her husband even talked to Kyle. I wish Kyle would have been able to make it through. However I am so super happy that my girl is there with you all.

You would be a great ombudsman, you care about what it is all about.

  • Tobianne

That was suppose to say is a ombudsman! oops. early morning today. lol
  • Jaz04

Sorry I have gone MIA. MI has been getting hit with that nasty snow and that is flairing up my arthritis. Plus we are trying to have a m&g at the end of Feb. here.

I am so glad to hear of all the good news happening and would like to welcome so many new Seabee families.

Denise, I was surprised my son went over for the game. He is not a football fan. But he had a great time. Yes, he is really looking up to your son. It throws me off when he calls him CM though. From the sounds of it he had a good time with their dogs this weekend.
  • Tobianne

morning ladies. I need a long arm so I can smack my Seabee today!!!! lol I know she is an adult, I just wonder where she left her head at! She has made some very immature decisions this past weekend.

Have any of you gotten to the point you just want to wash your hands and say "whatever"....

I did actually "tell her off" in a text though. I know at 18 they can vote and serve their country, but they are really not adults. She has always been a very mature and level headed kid (for the most part), she left back to base at Christmas mad. Now she is guilty of this very same thing. I am sure some time I will be told how this is so much different with what she is doing! I see it and can say, no it is the very same.

  • Jaz04

Tobianne, yep - had to do tough love after Christmas.  It was hard.  But he learned on his own - a little.  I think that is why he found a mentor.

Denise - thanks, I am hoping a massage today will help the steriod shot.  Otherwise back for more April 1.  Steven thought Jackie was funny.  The more she picks on him, the more he will open up.  Funny about the dogs birth week.

I was hoping to get out of old man winters clutches in March, but won't be able to make the trip now until May.  I was hoping my son could come home for 4th of July since we are having a family reunion, but he said they have been told no leaves starting July.  Anyone else hear that or is it my son trying to plan his time?

  • Tobianne

Speaking the truth!!  My older 2 have always had the answers, then they call mom!

Now my 20 year old is calling about his newborn and what is this and how do ya do that! lol  They know where mom is at and they will eventually all come crawling home...

  • Tobianne

I have not heard anything, but my brat is talking June so? She prob wont come home after this weekend! oh well.

Just keep in mind that they have many that may have already ask for the time and that could be why. Summer is a big time for visits.

  • navymom99(ship09 div075)

Ok I have attended PIR in Chicago this past weekend which was amazing! We just got home last night. My daughter was in Mississppi before we left Chicago. So she is now a A school to be a BU as a Seabee. I am so proud of her. Proud to be a Seabee mom. She sounded so much more mature and happy!
  • Tobianne

    congrats navymom99
  • SeabeeWife20

Robin-We are stationed in Gulfport. He got here this weekend and is in holding company for a week or so for ECS. The great thing about that is he gets to live at home now, YAY!!! Then there is a *possible* deployment within the next couple of months after he reports to his battalion. We will find out for sure after he starts ECS. Emailing would be great for me....and congrats on your partial retirement!
  • Tobianne

Manda- I think you would make a great Ombudsman. You can and will do whatever to help, I have seen this.
  • Tobianne

Here ya go moms with daughters:

Lord, stand beside the Women who build,
And give them courage, strength, and skill.
O grant them peace of heart and mind,
And comfort loved ones left behind.
Lord, hear our prayers for all Seabees,
Where'er they be on land or sea.

    • R. J. Dietrich (1960)

O God, protect the women who,
    In service, faith in thee renew;
O guide devoted hands of skill
    And bless their work within thy will;
Inspire their lives that they may be
Examples fair on land and sea.

a fellow Navy momma found this and sent to me.
  • Tobianne

yes it is actually. She said she heard it on her radio this morning and had to look the words up for me... I guess I have never heard the Navy Hymn before.  That is so sad. I am going to go and look it up now so I can never be able to say that again!! lol
  • Tobianne

Just looked it up, it is the Seabee Hymn.
  • Jaz04

we are having a meet & greet in MI tomorrow and we will be putting together a box for each sex.  Any suggestions of the most common requested item?
  • Joanie Tyler's Mom(133 Bees)

I'm headed to Gulfport shortly to take Tyler back to base for deployment...can't believe it will be 10 months until I see him again....first time gone for that long....saving grace is the green deployment....Thanks to all our Seabees!
  • mom2nw

just popping in between third shifts to say...

    Happy Seabee Birthday!!

(I know, a day early, but I gotta sleep)

    God Bless the Seabee Family

  • Kelleypen

He's back home hugging his family again.
  • NitaSewBee

I joined another group the other day... Japan  Moms as my son is somewhere over there, and I found out I know a lot of the people in the group already. Really great.

I will still check in here from Time to time as once a Seabee mom, always a Seabee mom. Hope  everyone is doing fine.

  • mom2nw

Denise, thanks for the update.  (snowing in Wisconsin, weird to think about tornadoes)
  • hotflashes

Denise, thank you for the info, saw the weather on the news, only mentioned gulfport/biloxi airport. Not sure how close the airport is in reference to the base.. we drove from Fla to the base last month.
  • SeabeeWife20

My husband just drove to base for work. He wasn't told of any lockdowns or late report times, and they let him on no problem. So not sure what the severity of lockdown is, maybe just not allowed to leave base? The tornado touched down for a short second over by the airport which is about 5 miles from base (approx). The tornado warning was lifted, but we are under tornado watch until noon. Thunderstorm warning was also lifted. We do still have a flash flood watch. We have thunder and lightening going on but not as severe as earlier. So things can change, but for the most part it's looking pretty good.
  • Kim

I haven't been on here in a very long time and thought I met check in. My Seabee is getting ready for deployment. We're hoping to be there when he leaves. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. He was telling me about the weather yesterday but didn't say anything about the base being in lockdown. I just wish our snow would melt a little faster.
  • NitaSewBee

anyone hear about the sailors  that got killed  at Camp Lejeune in CA? One of  them was from upstate NY they were construction Builders  which I guess makes them like Seabees?
  • NitaSewBee

Then what's the camp that's in San diego maybe I meant pendeleton, does that sound familar?
  • mom2nw

A heavy heart this morning praying for the families of the Seabees killed in CA and for all involved in the Japan earthquake.
  • Tobianne

there is also LaMoore. in CA.
  • sherrys (Alumni-Ship 02 Div 911)

Heard from my girl last night...found out she is #2 in her class and is neck-n-neck with her roommate for the #1 spot! It was so not like her in high school, or the first year and a half of college. What a great surprise!... Who knew?! Lol!

Ladies...if I may, please pray for my friend in the Marines...he's closer than my own brother, and an important part of our family. Although I heard news that all of our military over in Japan are safe and accounted for, I have not yet heard from him. I'm sure he's fine, but you all know about this whole "not knowing" thing! I'll rest easier once I've heard straight from him that he's okay! God bless all those suffering right now, and God bless our men and women serving in our armed forces!
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Hello, my son just landed in Gulfport for A school. Could anyone tell me what he can expect? He is a BU. Also where do a majority get deployed? That might be a stupid question, but thought I'd ask anyway. Thank you.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Thank you Denise, He wants to go to Japan, so I hope they send him there.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Thank you all this is very new to me, he just had PIR this Friday.
  • sherrys (Alumni-Ship 02 Div 911)

Denise-thanks very much...just heard from him and he is now part of the effort to help. Lots to do...my prayers go out for all affected by this recent disaster/tragedy!
  • Tobianne

Well my kiddo finally landed at LAX. After she went through a complete screw up yesterday. Somehow when she was suppose to be on her flight yesterday they had voided out her ticket. So 2 hours on the phone with whomever schedules the flights faxes back and forth, she got a flight this morning and is now there.

Sad she had to leave many friends in GP. She will reconnect with many that left her, and make many new friends.

Also I just need to tell Amanda,  Girl you are a Saint. Thanks for hanging in there and going through that with Kayla. I know she has said she is going to miss you and your hubby so very much along with a few others she called me crying about having to say goodbye to.

Never good bye though, just see ya soon.
