congrats Terrysproud mom- yes I think he is talking about ECS (Combat training). This is after A-school and is done at Gulf Port MS. It is pretty fun from what I am told, lots of crazy things going on. He will know so much more once he gets to A-school.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

My son joined 7 a couple of weeks ago. It is nice to see the pictures. Thank you.

Dave'sSeaBeeMom that really is a shame. My son told me they had to purchase a lot of the gear on their own.

  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Can't you text him. I have been in contact with my son since they left.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

That stinks, hopefully all will be well. My son asked his last name, but I know you can't tell me here.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

That what I was going to have Nick do but he doesn't know anyone there. He'd have to ask around.

Hi all,  Devin's PIR was wonderful.  His orders did change.  In the worst storm I've ever driven in we went to join him at the airport yesterday. 5 1/2 inches rain  in two hours. The plan was we would get there before the Navy bus.  We were unable to get off the ramp to the airport due to flooding.  Went to the O'Hare Oasis (the truck stop)and waited from 1430 another guy called his parents who were also waiting for him  at 0430 and told us all that the bus was stuck between two flooded areas but on the airport ramp.  We got a call at about 0600 from Devin that they were finally at the airport so we finally got there and found him at 0700.  Over 100 flights had been canceled.  His flight was suppose to be at 0949.  After three gate changes and four flight time changes he finally took off at noon.  We got back to Waukegan at 1550 and he arrived in LAX at 1650 he called us and told us he had arrived.  At 1750 he called again that he was still waiting because his Seabag had not gotten on his flight but was on the next flight to arrive 2 hrs later(1750PST).  He had called someone at Port Hueneme and they told him he was to stay at the airport until the Seabag got there and to then call the shuttle.  We didn't hear from him again. Nothing has been EZ for him yet...hope it gets better and I hope he gets to go to some of the Seabee's Days functions to give him a morale boost, even if it is picking up trash if he can see the exhibits he would be encouraged.

Dave'sSeaBeeMom:  If Dave's stuff was stolen from his car his car insurance may pay for everything.  Have you checked on it?  So sad that anyone would do this in the first place but to a Sailor is even worse!

  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

    Sorry to hear Terry's mom.

Denise I told him and Thanks to you and Dave's mom. He's kinda struggling right now.

  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

I emailed you his last name. Thank you very much!
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

I was getting use to the acronyms at boot camp but I guess there are many more to learn for A school.  Can you tell be what FTX?  I'm thinking Field Training Xercise?

Is there something I can do?  Care pkg?  I don't know what I could put in one since we can't discuss where they are going.  If any of you would like to guide me through this with suggestions for a care package I would be glad to send one too, you can email me

  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

When you say powdered drinks.  Do they have some way to mix it?  I sometimes volunteer at operation gratitude so similar to their care packages but with out the "long-term" items such as tooth paste, soap, etc?  More short term in the manner of food and comfort stuff?   I can't figure why any one would give anyone a hard time about the box....I am sure the guys probably share with each other.
  • Joanie Tyler's Mom(133 Bees)

During 133s last FEX, the command encouraged care packages....you left your care packages at a certain place on base and they picked them up each day....you could send one each day....about shoebox size....we mailed ours to a wife on base and she took them to the drop off point.
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Denise: Can I send the care package without the paper around the box? I was thinking of sending the shoe box size "if it fits it ships" priority box from the USPS (I'm retired postal worker) but it can only go without the wrapping.  What if I put a box inside that box would that work?
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Is there a cut off date for sending these care packages?
  • ebigirl

Terry'saproudmom; the powdered drinks I'm thinking of come in individual packets meant to pour into water bottles. They come 10 packets to a box. Crtstal Light has a good variety of flavors.
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Great I have some Crystal Light boxes of 10 in my cupboard now.  Just looked one is called ENERGY.  Will go get some more to send.  Does Gateraid come that way too?  They could probably use that with the heat/humidity right now.
  • Kim

My Seabee is on his first deployment, any ideas on what I could send to him.  When I sent his first box, I put in some gummy worms that end up being one big gummy worm haha. It's hot where he is.
  • Kelleypen

hard candy, granola bars, and lots and lots of jerky.  I also included a small water color box, and a watercolor journal, plus pens and brushes.  Cards are good and so are word and sukoku puzzles.  I sent my son a set of those tiny strong magnets and he liked those. I also sent him lots of paperbacks from his favorite authors.
  • SeabeeWife20

Well ladies I'm maybe halfway through our deployment.......the month they come home is still up in the air. I have my days where this deployment is really easy and seems to be going by quickly. But then I have my days like I've had the past few weeks....I've had a root canal because apparently a nerve in my tooth was dying. I then got sick because my immune system was weak because of the root canal. I have been on two different antibiotics and seem to be getting better, thank goodness. The days seem to be dragging on and I really miss my husband right now. I don't like to complain or be a debby downer, but what I wouldn't do just to hug my husband right now. I appreciate having N4M on days like this. I have been very disappointed with my FRG because they are mostly targeted to those people with children. I have nothing against children, I'm actually going to school to be a preschool teacher. But when you have every event and meeting centered around kids, it tends to get old. It's hard to relate to people whose priorties are their children, as they should be. I've also found that rumors are running rampid among those who attend the FRG and that's not something I want to be a part of. I had this idea when my husband joined the military, that I would became a large part of everything that happened with the families and hopefully become an Ombudsman. I think my goals have changed slightly base on the little experience I've had thus far.....who knows maybe when my husband returns and we start to hang out with people with similar interests to ours, it won't seem so bad. Like I said, not trying to be debby downer, just venting a smidge. Thank you all for letting this be a place to have an outlet! Hope you're all doing well. Goodnight!
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Denise can you send me the info too. I also want to send a care package.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

    Got it! Thank you.
  • Joanie Tyler's Mom(133 Bees)

Jean C:  I'm so glad Tyler got a chance to know your bee...wishing he would have been with him longer....tell him Thanks for All His Service!!!  Will he be moving closer to you now?
  • Kim

Kellypen and Denise...thanks for the ideas on things to put in his box.

Seabeewife...I feel for you.  In my situation, it's not children but wives that I am in contact with.  I have so much respect for all of the military wives.  You ladies have a lot to deal with in all aspects. I tell everyone here at home that I am glad that my son does not have a girlfriend or wife right now.  I know how I feel as a "mom" I could not imagine being a military wife.  Wives deserving a standing ovation in all that you do.  I will continue to say special Prayers for everyone.  Hugs to all!!!!

  • Kim

    Thanks for the link Denise!
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

I sent condolences, thank you Denise. So sad.
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Thank you Denise for posting for us and other groups.  I am so glad that we are all able to let Matt's family know we are praying for them.  Please continue to post if you hear of anything more we can do.
  • Jaz04

I had read on FB that the 7th was the last day for packages.  Ann Marie & Dave's mom, I hope that our sons meet.  Yes Michael is a bundle of help.  My son has gotten himself a new girlfriend that has a level head, but is really missing him.  I have talked to her for 7 1/2 hours in the past week.  I can't wait for FTX to be done so she can talk to him again.  I have encouraged her to join the FRG (she is from Louisana so about an hour away) and this site to meet others that are in the same situation to help her, but being 20 and bashful I don't think she will.
  • Jaz04

Dave's SeaBeeMom, I just sent you a message for those directions.  My nieces are very crafty so I bet we can get a bunch done before school starts again (another month to go).

Hopefully Steven & Dave can hook up and his girl can help find someone for Dave to go out with.  Maybe that will help those two get out and do things too besides sit and watch TV.

  • Jaz04

Denise - that he does.  Steven has enjoyed his get togethers with Michal & Jackie.  I will definitely have Steven introduce Jackie & Kristin.  She needs help on understanding Navy life and how to deal when they deploy.  Heck, I will need help when they go haha.

Steven has said originally FEX was supposed to be 14-18 days.  I hope that he was more correct than wrong.

I hope Michael is feeling better.  I saw today that it is supposed to be very hot down there the rest of the week.  So all you down south, please take care of yourselves and your loved ones.  The north is finally getting a heat break.

  • SeabeeWife20

Ladies, thank you for your support. Just taking things a day at a time and looking forward to the day my hubby returns home.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Has anyone heard from their sons that are in FTX? I haven't heard from Nick since Wednesday, but he did tell me that they were moving them.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

I HEARD FROM NICK!!!! :) and he's ok!!!!!!! Happy tears!!!
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

oh and he is on a bus going back to base!
  • Jaz04

Got a text and phone call from my son!  They are back but the CM's & I think he said the EO's had to stay behind to make sure they had everything packed and bring it back.
  • Jaz04

Dave's SeaBee Mom - Steven is going to ask Michael to point out Dave to him.  Ann-Marie he is also looking for Nick.
  • Jaz04

Yes the BU's are back.  I hope you hear from him soon.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

    Thank you Jaz
  • Dona

Anyone have a Seabee on the Bonhomme Richard?

  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

    New pics of FTX up!!!
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

where are the FTX pictures posted?
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

    Thank you

  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Being new to this group and my son still in A school I need to ask a question...what does "advancing" mean?  Promotions?  Trying to understand all these new things and terms...thanks everyone in this group for helping me

  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Hmmm...my son did tell me that all the new Seabees would be reserves...I thought he misunderstood something, but could it be that as the scale back the Navy will go to all reserve Seabees?

  • Kelleypen

yeah, my son is getting out when his enlistment is over... they won't let him re-up.
  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

Denise:  that's not good to have to do four extra years. Sad really!
  • Joanie Tyler's Mom(133 Bees)

Cathy: You can call the Ombudsman...once they verify your son they can give you info about the homecoming....Our last homecoming, my son had to put the names of those coming on a list...You have to show Driv LIc ID and car registration to get on base..the Ombudsman will be able to give you the details of when they will arrive....there's not anything quite like seeing those buses pulling in and all the seabees getting off....wonderful time to be had....
  • alex's mom(Tina)

hello to all. My son just graduated bc and starts a school tom he isgoing to become a seabee.  alll thios is new to me so just wanted to say hi to others like me and my son

  • Joanie Tyler's Mom(133 Bees)

Cathy and cjt's mom: When Tyler came home from Aghan last August, the actual date of his arrival was changed 4 times that particular week...that can make planning your trip a little tricky...as I live about 2 1/2 hours from base that was not a problem for us...but the Ombudsmen can help with that info and 133s Ombudsmen didn't mind being called every day for any new info....praying all things work out so you'll be there at the right time...

  • alex's mom(Tina)

He went to gulf port MS on sat.  I have been able to talk to him everyday and to be honest that feels a little strange.  Im afraid hes going to get in trouble.  Guess Im still in bc rules.lol
  • alex's mom(Tina)

He also has to go to C school.  Will he get to come home at the end of A school or will they send him on to C school?
  • Kim

You ladies are very fortunate that your seabees gave permission to the ombudsman!  Our son doesn't want me to have access to the ombudsman and I really don't know any other mom in his battalion that I have any contact with and would be willing to help me out with information.  He keeps in contact with us and hopefully updated on what is happening :)
