Hello Cheryl,,,yep, isn't it great? although there hasn't been much activity... : (
Someone on another site posted that hobby lobby has a lot of Navy stuff...Joanns has a little, maybe Michaels has something...just can't order from their website... I don't have hobbylobby here...oh, maybe acmoore has something. Have you seen the pages that were posted? arent they beautiful...I can't wait to start mine. I want to get the scrapbook that has the navy emblem on the front so im waiting for a sale...lol
Yes, Mickee6k, I have a CM consultant...love their stuff!! I haven't been to a class in a while, been a busy summer. I'll have to call her for info on the kit...Thanks..
Cheryllynn Hobby Lobby has a website and you can e-mail them and they will send you flyers and 40% off coupons to use online since you dont have one near you. I love Hobby Lobby
Hey scrappers!! I just got back from an all weekend meet/greet. We had such a great time.Sarosa you might want to try you tube. I know there were cards being made this weekend. They used their crecuit to do it. Good luck.
I wish there was retreats somewhere close around here. Jackie what kind of purses to you make? iam looking for a wallet to match the purse i just bought
Hi everyone- I thought this would be a great group to join and maybe get ideas for my scrapbook for my sailor daughter. I make scrapbook embellisments and I am getting ready to start selling them on ebay, still working on getting pics made of everything. I just made a "Paper Doll" Sailor for my daughters scrapbook and it is soooo cute. Jackie-I love your purses, I make the quilted ones too, not as much now as I used to. Fabric prices have gone sky high!!!! And I am usually too busy making scrapbook stuff and ribbons to have time for sewing lol.
They used to have a 3 or 4 day scrapbook retreat in Gatlinburg TN. I really wanted to go to one but I guess they are not having it there anymore. We have a crop at a local school here in WNC for 2 days one weekend a month. Everyone brings all their tools to share and we have a great time. Plus it's free.
I did a search online and found the USA Navy paper packs that Hobby Lobby sells for 14.99 and was able to find them for less than 8.00 so with shipping it was still a little cheaper than Hobby Lobby which was great for me because it is over an hours drive to the nearest one.
Hi LaLa.. I was just shopping on Joanns.com but they have sold out of everything for Navy. UGH..Oh well. Just have to keep an eye on it. I was going to get the Navy scrapbook and the Navy page kit plus the Navy paper kit. Our local store is rather small and doesn't carry any of it.
I've been on one adventure scrapbooking event. My Creative Memories consultant booked us on The Mount Washington. It is a boat that cruises Lake Winnepausaukee. It was for only a few hours but it was a great time. I haven't ventured into anything since. There is a bed and bath that advertises for scrapbook getaways....I think that would be awesome!!!!
Hi cheryllynn- Try scrapbookingalley.com, that is where I ordered the Navy themed paper packs. They were $7.89 each and for orders under $50 shipping was $4.95. So if you only order one it comes out a little less than the $14.00 sold for in stores. If you spend $50 or more shipping is free. If you have Michaels or AC Moore in you area they both sell the Navy Scrapbook and you may be able to use a coupon from their websites to get 40 or 50% off any one regular priced item. So that is a great deal. They may have those at Scrapbookingalley as well. I didn't check because I already had mine. I really am going to try and go to a retreat. I just need to find a friend to go with me and pick one that looks like it would be awesome. :-)
thats what i did at michaels I used a coupon and got the navy scrapbook for about $17 .. I was very happy. I am giving my hubby his navy scrapbook as a christmas gift.
Hi, my son is off to BC in less than a month and I thought this might be a fun project for my daughter and I to do because lately she has been sad knowing her big brother will be leaving soon. I have never scaped before so any begining ideas would help.
Thanks for your input and ideas Mickee! I am having a going away party for him and will have throw cameras around for all his friends to use and postcards for them to fill out for him. I guess its a start..... I also have a great pic of him as an infant in a sailor hat...
We are having a Free Crop this weekend. Use CRICUT with lots of cartridges for free. Just bring your pics and paper. We have a great scrapbook store very close by. Anyone live near Western NC wanna come? Or heck take a long drive or fly in. We would be happy to have you come. And what better time of year to visit the Mountains, Fall Colors are awesome right now. You know you wanna come :-)
Hahahaha, Lala, yes, I do. Too much going on this weekend. The NH moms are getting together for a luncheon....Yeah. I ordered my Navy scrapbook and paper last night....HOOYAH!!! Cannot wait. Still working on daughters dance book. Trying to get that done before PIR...
To fellow scrapbookers, here's the 2 sites that carry a lot of Navy products: www.creatingmilitarymemories.com/navy/paper.html and www.memoriesinuniform.com.
Lala - I sure wished I lived near you for all those crops! I go to a lot in the Maryland and Pennsylvania areas = love the weekend crops now that I'm an empty nester.
That is a great idea. I gave my sailor an extra card for her camera and when one is full she can send it to me and i will make a CD of all her pics and load them to the computer then send her a copy of the CD and her card back, by then she should have the other one full to send me. I also made a list of what I want pics of, like her dogtags for her navy Scrapbook
I found directions today for making the 3 dimensional scrapbook box that opens up when you take the lid off. Let me know if you want me to send you the directions. :-)
Okay, got all my supplies in ... stickers, paper, scrapbook with Navy emblem, brads, clips, etc. Even got a new print head for my printer!!! yay...now I just need photo paper.....hahahaha...although kodak right now is running a special for 10 cents each...code spookyprints.
DCT- the link is Craftbits.com then on the left side click on scrapbooking. It will bring up a list of projects and look for the one that says Altered Scrapbooking - Scrapbook In A Box You can print the directions from there. If you can't find it let me know and send me your email address and i will gladly copy it and send it to you as an attachment.
Okay, I thought I would share some pics of the things I have been making for my Sailors Scrapbook. I am now making these available to my friends on N4M's so send me a message if you would like more info. I will have the sailors dressed in Digicams in a few days. I am so excited about these. I can't wait for my paper to come in. :-)
Those are sooooo sweet Lala. Remember the little tizzy we had on the 10/29 group about the color....lol...well, now we know...we've been, we've seen they are definitely BLACK. Sorry to have given you a hard time about that.
It's okay, When Nathan and Loran were home last weekend for Amber's funeral I checked the uniforms out very closely. I just didn't want to open that can of worms again lol. They should be blue in my opinion but I don't count lol I am just the MOM.
Oh, forgot the rest of my post....lol...
I started my Navy scrapbook last night. I have 2 pages done. Of course it helps that the kit I bought from KandCompany has some printed pages and you pretty much just stick your photo down and you are done....
I made and finished one of the scrapbook in a box projects. It was pretty easy and only took a couple of afternoons from start to finish. I will post some pics of it in a couple of days. :-)
Anyone know anyone with a child, spouse, loved one in the coast guard? My son was originally going that route and when my local sbk store closed i bought some coast guard supplies. Then he switched to Navy - I say Bravo Zulu to that - but nobody in my entire town has a coast guarder. I'd be willing to ship them off. They are specific to the coast guard. Nothing that would work Navy.
My 17yr old also wanted to go into the Coastguard but he has heard that it is very hard to get in so now he too is talking about joining the Navy. You might be able to sell it all on eBay if you can't find someone with ties to this site.
Hi Lala,
Too much trouble. I'll unload them eventually. I may see if there's a coast guard Facebook site.
I'd encourage your son to stay in contact with both recruiters. Our coast guard recruiter didn't pay much attention to our son until I called and told him the ASVAB and Fitness Challenge scores were available. He called back the next day wanting to arrange a meeting. By then, son lost faith in them. In Indiana, less than 25 coast guarders were recruited last year because there simply were not spots. A couple weeks after son signed his contract at MEPs a local boy who was lined up for coast guard got arrested for theft and low and behold, one more spot in Indiana.
yeah, I know they don't have many spots available anywhere. The nearest Coastguard recruiter for us is in Charlotte almost 3 hours away. My son took the ASVAB today at high school. All juniors take it in our school system. Can't wait to hear how he did. His sister scored the highest in the school when she took it lol. Higher than all the boys and we had NO idea that she would ever be in the military. At that time she didn't know either :-)
We had a weekend crop again this weekend. I am making a scrapbook for my sister-in-law for Christmas and I got 10 pages finished in 2 days. For me that is a record. :-)
I work the school system and we have 2 weeks left then we are out for 2 weeks for the holidays. I will be scrapping alot-while the rest of my family will be at work.
