Well, I am the Methodist, my husband is old fashioned German Lutheran and our sailor is Baptist. Our one in three God led Andy to the Navy. Praise be to God! I just found this page.

    Hi Connie
Just got off the phone with sailor Andy. He is at Goose Creek, and was very excited. He had the highest test score this week, and is 3rd in his class. He talked for 15 minutes---and I'm not his girlfriend! He is quite happy he has found a church there.
We have a good 15 months wait until classes are over before he goes submarine.
We really expected him to stay aircraft carrier per his original intent, but they offered him a completion of his welding certification after GC, so he took it.
    I pray for your sailor.

GRACIOUS LORD, God of all-sufficient grace, whose will is that all might love as they have been loved in Christ: stamp your image on my soul, restore your loving character in my spirit, and refashion my whole being into a transcript of your holiness in both heart and life. Amen.

HI, I just found you. I belong to the Nevada City UMC, NC, California. WOW! I've been on this site for about three months! YEA you are here!!
  • NevadaSierra

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm glad to be here. Our sailor has been in six years - four in a sub. He is in Bangor. He will be going to shore duty next. Our little angel Brianna (14 months) is scheduled to have her surgery tomorrow for her cleft pallet - prayers are appreciated for all of the family.
Jan - you are so very lucky that your sailor is close. We are far away from most anything - base and him. Actually we are just as far away from him in WA as we would be if he were stationed in CA. Funny.
So, what are you all 'giving to God for lent'. What part of you are you trying to change for greater service - to do the most for the most with what you have? I'm trying (yet again) to give up negativity. Notice that AGAIN - have to be persistant with it. My angel blessings to each of you~s

    Good Morning:
Well, the doc said that the spot on Dan's lung had not changed in two years - so no worries; and he is good with that. Thank you for your prayers. Monday he has the four hour test in Sacramento. Then maybe things will settle back down. Thank you all! My angel blessings~s

Wow, I've missed a lot. I'll have to make time to catch up. I just wanted to drop a note of THANKS to all of you! The four hours tress test went well for my husband (Dan). We will know the results of the pictures of his heart in a few days. My angel blessings to each of you~s
Thank you Jan. As far as we know she is recovering. Very scary for us especially when we can't be there to try to be of help. However, it is very reassuring that they have a 'strong group of friends' for support (the ombudsman told me this in an e-mail). We won't bother them with calling or e-mail to respect our dil's request; and also to give them all the chance to relax, rest and recourperate when they can. Our sailor is still deployed, so I am sure this is very hard on our dil.
On a UMW note, I am plannign a district team field trip to Gum Moon and Mary Elizabeth Inn in San Francisco. These are national mission projects. Anybody know about them?
Also, I wanted to ask what you all are 'giving up' for lent. Guess I could start a discussion - but wanted to see if there was any interest first. Mine is negativity. Whew - trying AGAIN. ~s

Hi Ladies: I wanted to share with you a prayer request:
Comment by Irene (Paul's Mom) 3 hours ago I need some prayers and I know that you all will help. My stepson who in the Air Force, went in for routine laproscopic gall bladder surgery on Thursday at Travis AFB Hospital. The surgeon knicked the aorta with the camera, right above where the aorta splits to go into the legs. When she repaired the aorta, there was still something wrong with the aortic valve and blood supply was cut off to his legs. Travis didn't have the right specialists or facilities for this type of injury, but they waited 10 hours before communicating that to his wife and transferring him to Univ CA Davis Hospital in Sacramento. Once he arrived by helicopter there, they immediately took him back to surgery to repair all the damage done, but unfortunately it was too late for his legs. They took his right leg in the middle of the night on Thursday and took his left leg Friday night. He has fluid in his lungs and there is some concern about all the infection getting to his kidneys, although once they removed the left leg and then took another 4 inches of the right leg, the kidney function started returning. This is a 20 year old, young Airman, serving his country. Please pray for him, his wife and all of his family. Pray for peace for all of us. Pray for healing. My husband (his father), is there with him, and the whole family has flown out there now, and I am going to be joining them on Tuesday. Please pass this prayer request to anyone who will listen. this is a horrific tragedy, but we also know that he is still alive and with us, and we are very grateful for that.
PLEASE SEND THIS ON TO ALL PRAYER WARRIORS! Thank you, my angel blessings ~s
