PeggyM have you caught yourself writing a question or statement and going "Wait, I said that on page one." I have actually found myself putting in the letter, "Oh wait, same question, different page." So much for sanity!
  • gsdkids (daughter AN)

EQ thank you for the levity. I feel better.
  • gsdkids (daughter AN)

    EQ-clique, clique, clique!
  • EQ

gsdkids---Wow!! Have you been reading my letters. I did that just today.
  • EQ

gsdkids-- Oops!! Sorry, I just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth.
  • tks4

My daughters A school is right where BC is. Will she get anytime off between grad and reporting to A school? My daughter is loving working with the recruits here. I hope one or two of the females leave for BC the same day. She ran her first 5K with 70 recruits and recruiters from the different branches of service at her recruiting station. She loved it. Although it was just for fun she came in 5th place and was giving the evening and morning off from running. What does she do? Text me to go running. I think she is crazy. I dont run but can walk very fast.
  • Cathi

hi tks4....from what I have heard they have to move their things right after PIR to new quarters which can take 5 to 7 hours and then they get liberty. My daughter may also have A school at Great Lakes thats why we asked.
  • tks4

Thanks for the info Cathi(ship03/Div311). I am keeping a book of all the info I get from everyone. I hope to be ready or at least somewhat when the time comes for my daughter to leave.

    Good Morning to Everyone!
I love that picture Cathi. I really is what I feel this week.
  • Cathi

    Thank you Jean, me too.
  • Oneofalot

I'm sorry to hear about that Morena. It does happen, they are just really hard on them at the beginning and sort of get easier or they get use to it by the end.
  • gsdkids (daughter AN)

Morena, so sorry to hear what is happening with Amber. Good for you for encouraging her to stay and even better for you for supporting her decision.
As we all know, we can't do it for them.
  • gsdkids (daughter AN)

Blondie, thanks for the info and yes I will be prepared for anything. I'm just relieved I was able to get the information on her flight out and start preparing myself. Her 17 year old "little sister" thinks that is crap, but what can you do. So time is definitely better than no time.
  • Cathi

Oh Blondie thats the good thing hair does grow back. I think all my kids have given themselves hair cuts at one time or another...some fixable some not. Its worse when you pay someone for a baaad haircut.
  • Cathi

So sorry Morena. I would probably cry all night too. But if our daughter is okay with it thats what counts as she is the one who went through it. Hugs !
  • Oneofalot

Yeah, when my daughter was 5 she cut her own hair and it was so bad she had to get a bowl cut to fix it. She had to be called a boy for awhile. So we dressed her in pink dresses so she wouldn't get called a boy. I think that is when her tomboy thing started to think back.
  • Cathi

LOL, tomboy. Out of three girls I got a "priss", a tomboy and one thats a little of both. Bet you can guess which onr joined the navy!?!?!
  • Oneofalot

Boy, let me guess the tomboy. My daughter had 3 brothers to live with. now you know why she turned out as a tomboy and she really wanted to go in the Marines but a week before she was to leave she had a bad car accident and they medical discarded her so that is how she is in the Navy now plus there was more choices for a kid who wants to fly in the Navy.
  • Oneofalot

LOL Blondie, I guess they can change.
  • Oneofalot

You take care and keep in touch. Let us know what is going on with you and Amber.
  • Cathi

Yes Jean, she's the tomboy. Out of my 5, I had 3 girls and 2 boys. Ever since cass was yeah high to a grass hopper she said she was going to be in the service and hopefully one day guard the tomb of the unknown soldier. Well so far she is working on the first part of that dream.
  • Cathi

My priss is married with 2 kids...I watch the kids nearly every day, And her hubby watches them the rest of the time. They might get her dirty ir something...lol.
  • Oneofalot

Gee, do we have the same kid. That was what my daughter wanted to do other then be the 1st blue angel pilot.
  • oregonmom1 (ship06/Div942pir9/2)

Morena, so sorry. . . sometimes change is difficult, but remember the one door closes, another opens. . .
what division and ship was she?
  • Cathi

Lol, i wonder, A blue angel pilot would be so cool.
  • Oneofalot

Yeah, she changed her mind. She wants to fly helicopters so she can help people.
  • Cathi

thats very cool though. Best wishes to her.
  • Oneofalot

    Thanks
  • Cathi

    your welcome
  • Oneofalot

She has a long way to go. First she enlisted so she could see how the enlisted are treated then she will be going to college with the Navy's help. Then to flight school after that. So it will be a long haul for her. Right now she is trying to get into Rescue Swimmer.
  • shannong1268 (CVN 77)

Awww, Sorry to hear about your daughter...The Navy isnt for "everyone", she's destined for something better and she will find it with your help. I hope this experience makes her stronger, she should be totally proud of herself, this is a HUGE challenge for anyone, I couldn't do this, no way...we wish you best of luck and Im a tad jealous you get your daughter back.... ;)
  • tks4

Morena, I dont know the who situation but I do believe when God closes one door another opens up. Will keep your daughter in my prayers.

I just got a phone call from my daughter! I doubt my feet will touch ground for days. . . she is doing awesome. said 2nd week she was so homesick and depressed, had not received mail, and began looking for a way to come home, then she started getting letters, says now she is committed. Doing better with PT, loves her bunk mate Miller, from Ohio (mom, msg me) Oh my gosh. . . I heard her voice. . . Thank you God!
  • Cathi

Hi Oregon mom...I bet hearing her voice was great! And thats okay if your feet dont touch the ground for a while...just be careful not to float away! We will miss you if you do!!!
  • oregonmom1 (ship06/Div942pir9/2)

Thanks for the balloons and congratulations.
Went to my parents last night for dinner, and was so excited. My youngest says, "Wow Mom, you have a lot of words tonight" Amazing how much weight is off my shoulders. She really is fine, and really does want to be there. So excited for PIR.
Tomorrow, I get to turn the calendar page. . how silly, but that makes me happy

God Bless us All. . . (tiny tim)
  • Anna

Good evening everyone!! Hope you are all having a good weekend.

So happy that moms have heard from their daughters. Mine was going to call me last night and I stayed up for awhile but no call. Maybe tonight!!! I know that her work is driving her nuts so when she gets home she usually finds an escape to go to to relax. So it is ok. Just wish I could help her - but you know what they say - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!!!!

    Oregonmom,
I so agree with you about other friends and family just don't get it. I love my friends, but Navy Moms are in a class all themselves!!! And luckily, I belong to that class!!!!!!!!!
