It is suppose to be cloudy and a lite drizzle in the morning. I will have to check when the sun comes up.
Blondie, I sent you the letter. You should get it in a few days. I also put ATT: Blondie on it so you know it was from me.
  • Oneofalot

It is still dark and gloomy here. I think the weather man said that it was suppose to drizzle and we were to have thunder storms. I hope so and that they don't go in the mountains. We don't need to have forest fires. The ones from British Columbia are bad enough. I like to breath.

Tiffanys Mom....this is definitely a new experience...no modesty allowed...wait til you read about the bathroom conditions!!! Yikes, I can even pee in a public restroom, dont kinow how Id do it in the open with tons of other girls! My daughter wrote and said she was getting the Mirena, I think actually next week. She just got married and I impressed upon the the importance of NOT having kids anytime soon. SO, I guess its part of the plan, birth control will protect her future too!!!! Good luck , it does get better!!!!
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Hi Moms...

just checking in on my lunch break. It is hot here, but cold in my office. Both are curses! I cannot wait to leave my office today...I havent been very interested in what I am doing, anyway.

We actually need some rain, so please send some my way if you can. My flowers would appreciate it. :)
  • shannong1268 (CVN 77)

Melsmom, I ve got thunderstorms coming about 3pm today...you can have them!!! its cutting into my tennis time!!!! And it floods my street! Give me your GPS coordinates and I'll hook you up!
  • Oneofalot

Have a great day, Blondie. Enjoy that massage.
Melsmom, we will be having thunderstorms today too.
  • Anna

    Afternoon all!!!
Just an update on my new sailor Jenn's status. She got the copies of her orders yesterday. It seems so funny to me - - you are hereby ordered to go to school!!!!! She is active duty assigned a rate of OCSN - Officer Candidte pay grade E3. Her current assignment is 22 months with an atticipated graduation date of May 2012. She only has to report in to her recruiter twice a month by phone and once every two months they have to have a face to face meeting. She also has a list of duties to follow - one cracked me up - "notify your recruiter of any change in status such as marriage"!!!!! I asked her is there was something she wanted to tell me!!!!!
  • Oneofalot

    That is so funny, Anna
  • Anna

I have a very small amount of rain falling today. Or maybe it's just really heavy humidity!!!!
  • Tobianne

Shannong, my daughter got the implanon she said it is due to the reasoning all her friends seemed to have probs with the mirena. Not everyone has that but she chose the implant. It is painful and she had some stitches I think. She said the not having to worry for 3 years was great for her, and not having something internally inside her female area (lol) made her far more comfortable.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Well it didnt rain here. Shannon, thats funny.

Oh it feels so good to be home. The evening plans...a jog, dinner, and goodness knows what. I am not sure what I feel like getting into tonight. sigh...I really feel like getting in my bed.
  • Anna

    Kyle,
Is that the vaccine Guardasil that protects again HPV that leads to ovarian cancer? It's a three shot vaccine. My daughter got the first two in bc and then the last at her A school.
  • Tobianne

Kyle I have never heard of the ten year shot, but the have depo its good for 3 months at a shot. I do think she may be talking about the guardasil. My daughter got that done when she was 16, my younger daughter is slatted to start it asap (when the monthly appears) as the younger you are the better protected.
Our pediatrician is a sworn believer in that, says too many young woman getting ovarian cancer today.
  • Tobianne

@Joanne-awe without asking painful questions I hope all is well.
  • gsdkids (daughter AN)

Okay may the weather god's give us some relief. 108 yesterday and 106 today. Supposedly there is a cold front moving through that will cool us 99 tomorrow and perhaps the low 90's on Thursday. I love the heat but not the 70% plus humidty. Lord give me strength and thank you for not making me do PFA, IT, or any of the other stuff my SR is suffering through.
  • Tiff'sMom (Sharon)

WOW... I'm scared for Tiffany to have her pap smear and now I'm sooo confused as to what birth control? Will they explain this to her, I mean, she knows how to get preggies and I'm sure she has done things I don't want to know about, (YES, I'm the naive mom who likes to think her daughter is an angel/virgin! LOL) but do they MANDATORILY put them on birth control?? After I posted this last night about the pap smear, she said, YES mom, I know they will do this and other girls on (whatever site she goes too) said this was their first one too.... I feel a little better about that, but still sad I didn't think to take her before this, oh well... too late now, I told her to be happy that she gets to lay down for a second during it LOL and hopefully be so tired at that point she won't care what they are doing to her!
  • Tiff'sMom (Sharon)

Ohhhhh and the weather here is HOT, HOT and more HOT... we usually hope for a tropical storm to come through to make it warmer/wetter...not Hurricanes, but something tropical to water our grass and plants and to cool it down a bit.
  • Cathi

    Photobucket
  • Tobianne

Oh haha sorry Joanne, and correct it is not too late.

Depo is great if you just had a baby and are nursing, you can use it then. I did and hated it. I had a 6 month period in which while nursing the other 2 before that child i never had a period during that time... as well as gaining like 30 lbs many woman complain about that same thing.
Mirena is good for 5 years and yes intrauterine. not positive if wt gain, but suppose to help with heavy flow
Implanon is in the arm and is good for 3 years. not sure about periods and or wt gain

The great thing about the last 2 in antibiotics do not lessen the effects of these 2. The pill which is daily, and now they have one that is weekly (in trials I am thinking still) as well as depo provera will be lessened with certain medications.

They also have a patch, I was on this as well, if any chance for adhesive allergy I would say not to choose this one either.
I do believe all female recruits go on BC, it is just a fact of becoming a Sailor.

I hope that helped some, but most of all just call your dr. this is the best person to ask, if she has not left yet ask him to go over with her options, she does not need an exam as she will get this in P-days, nor any BC.( Or go online and look them up.)
  • Tobianne

lol ahhh but so true... Yes the patch it would fall off in the shower or in the pool, I was about to flip and then the huge "polka dot" and the itch worse than a hundred mosquito bites... lol So it was not for me, and after my 4th I had my tubes tied burned stomped on and thrown away!!! lol.....

My daughter said if I could have my tubes tied I would, ha she is just 18.... she does not want children for about 12-14 yrs. says if her husband does not understand that he need not marry her. She is focused toward her career and so with that, momma told her in case anything should ever happen you carry condoms for your own safety
Sad to say but this is real and they do engage, so I made sure both my kids were fully aware and bought both of them protection. I am too young to be a granny, I have a 5 yr old at home as well as an 11 yr old too young lol .
  • Tobianne

Oh I understand that, but I also know that since they would have to work crazy jobs that someone is gonna have to care for a baby. I love my kids but... I have a life and I am still raising mine and they will not use that to advance the situation, "mom she can play with the baby!!!" its all a crap shoot when you think about it. It does not even matter what kind of home life anymore, they are doing this and we can only hope they are smart enough to prepare them selves for what may happen. This is why I am glad she was home and helped care for her baby sister. I worked nights she got up with her dad to help feed and change and rock her back to sleep. (she was home schooled at the time).
She said then it is way to hard to be a mom and I know I am not ready, just told me 4 mos ago I am still not ready, as many of her friends are either pregnant or have babies.
She said I want to do things and go places before, I want to be able to devote my life to my children when I have them and that means no sitter or leaving them while I go away on vacation with my husband.
  • Tobianne

aman to that. I would help... would. I will not take over. I have 7 more with one child and then 13 with my youngest so at that point I think I will be retired and need someone to come in and take care of me!!! lol

This is true, my daughter went to a school that was publically named on tv for pregnency. She refused to carry her sister in public for fear someone would "think" she was hers. This did actually happen in the mall when my baby was about 6 mos old and my younger one was around 7 some lady (older) told my oldest her baby was beautiful and looked just like her, but where did her older daughter get that red hair from "daddy"!!! My daughter explained maam, I am 14, I am not the mommy, this is the mommy and my mom also.

Kayla has always looked about 3-5 years older and I tried to tell her this she just freaked since they aired that about her school. lol

    Reality check!!! loved it actually.
  • Tobianne

oh gosh I meant 7 more years and 13 more years... lol
  • Tobianne

right, then this was alright even now in the situation you and your family had, but the other is just plain scary. Yes just 2 (under age) at home. I also have a son 20. He will be in G-L in about a month and 1/2. Then yes just hubby the girls and me.
  • Tobianne

Ok I do have a questions some more experienced moms could answer.

My daughter who is heading to one of 4 bases after A-school, wants her dad and I to move to where she will be based. (not on base of course), her dad is all for this since we are getting older and the job market here just stinks awful. Have any of you heard of this happening?
She is very close to us and wants to be as much a part of her sisters lives as possible (couldn't care much about her brother she said we grew up together, they are 2 years apart).

She will be Sea Bee, my (mis lol) understanding is that pretty much unless on deployment she will stay at her home port for most of her Navy career.
  • Tobianne

She is begging sort of. Her dad is in construction and has in the past had job offers in LA and in MS making almost 2x's what he does here... so if thats the case I may not even need to work lol... that would be great however you know its only fais to pull my wt in the home...

    Thanks.
  • Tobianne

lol, my son is always asking if he can put one of his sisters on his taxes to make them cheaper... ha if ya don't care for them 24/7 you can not get the credit...

I know I have always told my kids to have wonderful jobs since we never got them cheap diapers they could splurge on us in our old age!!! Also can not even think about my hubby sitting, he is going to be tinkering until the end.
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.
I am having the worse day ever. I was coming to work and ended up with 2 flat tires.
  • Oneofalot

Good Luck Morena. Keep in touch.
  • Tobianne

    Jean,

I had the same happen to my daughter, her bestfriends fiance was killed on amotorcycle and he was also a very good friend of my daughter, we had a pack "not to tell her" and a different friend wrote her (was also in this pack), gave no details just a very vague letter. That sent my girl crazy, she was mad since she had just spoken to me on the phone, and I had not told her. I had to them write her a letter and tell her, she was a mess. Her RDC let her call home and then call her best friend.

I am of the same mind do not tell them until after when you are there.

We have other bad news to tell her, her doggy that she has had since a pup passed away, will "not" tell her this until after her PIR.
  • Oneofalot

Blondie, yes I am at work now. I think I ran over something and bad old tire also. The police that help me move my car out of the freeway said they looked ok except the one the went bad. So all I can think is I ran over something. The tire people said they found some nails in the one that they fixed. But 250 dollars is a lot of money.
  • Oneofalot

Good luck on getting missed. Yes, the car did not even move. It just made a bad noise that did not sound good. I am glad it did not move, I was scared enough to have the tire flat. I hate breaking down any way. That is why I have AAA. to save my A$$ when I do. Thank God I drive a Toyota.
  • Anna

    Morena,
Best of luck always for Amber!!! And I agree with Blondie - stop back now and again and let us know how you and Amber are doing!!!

    Blondie,
Do you get your tv broadcasts from Cleveland?
  • Tobianne

Blondie where is it that you live? I am in Canton Ohio.
  • Anna

    TobiAnne,
You should check out the group Ohio Moms. I'm in Stow, just north of Akron. That is until my hubby gets another contract assignment and then we are out of here!!! I'm originally from Chardon.

    Blondie,
I pretty much know where your little city is and that's why I wondered if you get Cleve broadcasts. You commented about the storms - we haven't had any this way yet but there are warnings for your county, bunch of other counties, but not ours!!!!! Sorry!!
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Jean, glad you are safe. What a bad way to start the day. (reminder to self...check the tire pressure on my car).

Hopefully, all of you are doing okay. As for here, we got some much needed rain. Unfortunately, it was on my drive to work, but beggars cannot be choosers. :) Now it is sunny and hot again.

    Hugs to all of you!
  • Oneofalot

Our weather here is sunny with some disappointment with car.
  • Tobianne

we just and are still in the middle of the nasty storms.... but we really do need it.

Blondie, so close to PA I am thinking east of me would be Youngstown and a small piece of WV.
  • Anna

    Jean,
So sorry about the car but from what I remember riding with Cath on those freeways, thank God you didn't get hit a million times while your car was disabled!!!
  • Oneofalot

Thank God for that. I had an angel watching over me today. Thank God the state police showed up when he did. He was cute too.
  • Oneofalot

Wow What a busy place you have, Blondie. Is it that way all the time or just on Wednesday's.
  • Heather'sproudmom(ship12div.266)

    Tina
  • Oneofalot

So am I. I even have to work late because I got in late. That really sucks but I don't want to use my vacation for it.
  • Oneofalot

Blondie, ships do weather storms like that better when they are out at sea. It is only a big wave to them and wind. In shore they are banged around a lot. Much ruffer
  • Heather'sproudmom(ship12div.266)

My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your daughter Blondie....
  • Heather'sproudmom(ship12div.266)

Blondie, You're right, I'm praying for all of them as well....
