Blondie, maybe the dog is trying to comfort you and that is why he is falling. Hug him and he will get you through until you hear from her. She is doing fine and can handle what comes up. She'll call when she gets in port.
  • Oneofalot

Oh yes, we do understand. Like you have said to all of us. We have all been there and are wearing the socks and shirt to prove it. All you can do is pray and put her in the Lords hands. She is ok. I can feel that. It just is hard for you to be away from her without a email or call for so long. Hug PINK and cry your eyes out. It will help.
  • Oneofalot

See the Lord works in mysterious ways. You needed a hug and you got one.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Good Morning N4M Family!

Blondie, I really hope you get some time with your Sailor soon! Sending you hugs.

Hope everyone has a Terrific Tuesday!
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone
  • Oneofalot

Have a good day Blondie. You won't miss her call. She knows when you are home and will call then.
  • Oneofalot

No problem. That is what we are here for. To help everyone out on times of need. We have all been there. I will be there in January when my daughter goes on her 1st long deployment and won't be able to keep in touch with us. So I sort of got a taste of it this last time. She was gone for 3 months.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Sending hugs, Blondie. :) You will get through this..until then, just use us! :) Vent away. You are always there for me with a kind ear and a willing shoulder. I am happy to return the favor.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Oh my goodness, Blondie...thats awful!! I sure hope your daughter has a better return!
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.
sorry Blondie, but I got a call from my daughter. It is not often that she calls to just talk to me. She usually want her dad. It was so nice to hear her. She is out of port again and wanted to say good bye. I will miss her again. She thinks it is only for a few days, but was not sure. Hope you hear from your sailor Blondie. I know how much you miss her. Just keep thinking of December and your trip with her. That will keep you sane.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Good Morning! :)

Jean, glad you had the opportunity to speak to her. I also got a call yesterday. E is doing well in boot camp...although she failed her first inspection. She sounded really happy. She has an important meeting today regarding her medical, so I am hoping things go smoothly.

Blondie, I hope you hear from your girl soon! Sending hugs! Also praying that her home is safe and sound!
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Blondie,

I printed that posting from God. I am mailing it to my daughter, with extras that she can hand out (her job in BC is working with the chaplain). Thank you so much!! That is awesome!
  • Oneofalot

I email it to my daughter also.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Absolutely :)
  • Oneofalot

    AMEN!
  • Oneofalot

I love that one. I passed it on to others. Thanks.

I'm glad you made it back Joanne. MIssed ya!
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Good Morning! :)
  • Anna

    Good afternoon everyone!!!

    Christina B,
Glad you found us!!! And so happy to have you here with us!!

Sorry I haven't been here lately ladies. It has been crazy!! Hubby and I safely made it here in Marquette, MI. It's pretty but it's a small place!! We were having a very difficult time finding a place to live. Places either didn't want to rent short term or they don't allow pets. And some of the places that people are renting are places I just wouldn't live in!!!! Talk about run down!!! Finally I found a place and I'm waiting on pins and needles today to find out if indeed we will be able to move our stuff in. We are supposed to go to OH this weekend, get our stuff out of storage and bring it up here!! Wish us luck - it will take a day and 1/2 to drive down, 1/2 day to load the truck and then another day and 1/2 to drive up and then unload the truck!!!! We need to get it all done by Monday night!!!!!
And on top of all our stress our oldest son is having such a hard time finding a place for him and his wife and their cats to live in a suburb of Pittsburg. He has been staying in a company appt with a couple other guys and she is staying with a friend in Harrisburg. They were all set to close on a house this week when the mortgage co realized the selling agent made a major mistake on the tax info and the whole thing may fall apart. I feel so bad for them!!! Right now a third of our family feels like homeless nomads!!!!!!!
    Will keep you posted!!!
  • Oneofalot

Anna, would you like me to ask my sister in law who use to live there, where he could find a place. She live there all her life until her hubby moved them up here to live closer to family.
  • Anna

    Jean,
I will definately let you know about that by this weekend!! I'm crossing all fingers and a few toes hoping this place comes through for us. It will be close to hubby's work place and is right in Marquette. We spent all of the first few days here driving all over looking at all the apartment places we could find. Many of them are rentals for the college kids who were also moving up here this past weekend. We even drove around the other nearby towns. We could find some nice places but they will only take a one year lease and the company only wants Steve for 4 to 6 months. So that is our biggest obstacle!!!
  • Oneofalot

That is really hard to find a place for such a short time. Sorry. While let me know about asking my sister in law she is really nice and willing to help. She knows Pittsburg like the back of her hand.
  • Anna

    Jean,
Oh I'm sorry - I missread your post - I thought you were talking about help with finding a place here in Michigan!!!! My son is working in Canonsburg so that is where they are concentrating on. If your sister in law has some info about that area that would be most appreciative. He has a realtor that is working with them but so far everytime they find a hopeful something is wrong. So many houses these days are forclosures and they require quite a bit of fixing and repair to be liveable again. They had another beautiful house picked out, made an offer and then the seller had to cancel because they could not get financing to buy a new place they wanted!! It really has been one thing after another for those two!!!
And I've worn out my knees praying for both his situation and ours!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Oneofalot

I will call her tonight and ask her if she knows of anything or anyone that can help them.
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Good afternoon! We had rain last night but alas the sun is back out. We need rain so badly.

I am glad I am not in the housing market right now. There are good deals to be found on houses but too frequently they have problems. Anna, I do realize your son and DIL are discouraged and frustrated but sometimes in the end things do work out for the better. I pray this is the case for them.
  • Anna

    Jean,
Thank you!! I will certainly pass along any info your SIL gives you!!!

And thank you for the prayers DC!! Yes, my son does get real down sometimes about all this - he has been going through this since the end of May!!

    Jane,
That is so cool - being from Michigan!! How long did you live here!! I hope winter holds off for awhile because there are many places I want to go see. My son-in-law to be is from here. His dad lives in Charlevoix so we want to go meet him, and we have a priest friend from when we lived in Annapolis who is now assigned to Kingsford and we'd love to drop in and surprise him!!!! I am really looking forward to living here for the next several months and wouldn't mind if hubby gets extended here for awhile!!!!!!
Oh we did get some info on cabins before we got here but their daily/weekly amount turned out to be way to costly for a monthly "rent".
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Anna, the key is to negotiate. Sometimes people are willing to negotiate. I am amazed at what my younger son can get, even in a store like Penney's. Make an offer. Sometimes something for a while is better than nothing.
  • Anna

Thanks DC. I know I'm not good at that at all but my hubby has been a pretty good negotiater at times!!!!
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Wade, I know that you are relieved to know that your daughter is safely on board the Truman, even though she is far away. Did she get to land on the carrier?
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Just taking a quick moment to say hello. I am glad you got at least a short conversation with your Sailor, Blondie! :) Anna, you and your family are in my prayers. Wade, I am sure you have some peace of mind.

I will check in some more later...trying to work and I have a pretty bad headache. ugh...

Hoping all is well in your lives...hugs!
  • Oneofalot

I really like that Blondie! Thanks
  • Oneofalot

    Amen to that
  • Anna

    Jane,
Thanks for all the info. We are sitting in our hotel room in Ann Arbor, getting dinner and resting up for the rest of the trip tomorrow. And then loading the truck!! We stopped at a park just before crossing over the Mackinac Bridge. How beautiful to be between two gorgeous great lakes!!!! We drove through Saginaw and after we get settled I want to go meet my future son in law's father in Charlevoix!!! I'm hoping he can take us out on the lake in his boat!!!!!

    Blondie,
What university did your son go to!! Glad you got to hear from your daughter!!
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Nice graphics, Blondie. Thanks for posting the messages contained in them.

    Good morning!

Richi's, when I had my first cataract surgery, the nurse asked how nervous I was on a scale of 1-10 and I said 9. She said, "Really!?!" "Yes, really." So she gave me a "happy" pill. That surgery was a piece of cake although I aroused once for about two seconds during the surgery. So along comes the second surgery and again I was asked about nervousness. I said "nine without the happy pill and 2 with it. Again, I got the pill. Although I don't remember anything about the surgery, I managed to get a corneal abrasion ... think someone dropped the drape in my eye. I have not adjusted to the distant/close lenses so I now have glasses that fix it all. One thing I did notice was the difference in colors. I have a Tiffany style lamp that I thought was mauve and dusty blues. Wrong, it is pinks and brilliant blues, much prettier! Also the trees have green leaves now and not dirty yellow ones. Oh, I do see better.

Wade, when I had breast cancer, I chose a mastectomy in lieu of lumpectomy plus radiation. I have later learned that the radiation can cause sarcoma as well ... not good. I have never regretted my decision. Prayers are with you that you dance with NED (no evidence of disease) for the rest of your life.

Hope your daughter heals quickly from having her wisdom teeth out. I can imagine that arriving for duty in a plane landing on a carrier would be an exciting adventure. Did see arrive via helio or plane? For a plane, they call landing on a carrier a controlled crash. The plane approaches at full speed and ready to take off if it misses the hook and then a quick stop when it does.

The weather turned warm, almost 90. Doesn't it know that it is not supposed to do that at this time of the year? Hope everyone has a good day!!

    Good Morning to Everyone
  • Oneofalot

Blondie, I am glad you finally heard from her. It makes me happy to hear that.
  • Oneofalot

I had a nice weekend. To short but nice. I have no plans. I don't like to be stuck with something on a long weekend. Maybe I will go camping. That sounds fun only if I can find a camping site that is not full. How about you?
I finally found something for my daughters birthday that she can do instead of give her. I know her birthday was in July but I have been racking my brain for something. I am sending her to a concert in San Diego.
  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Good morning everyone, I haven't been to this page in a while. I have been trying to stay busy. Still missing my daughter very much. Her PIR was July 23rd. She was a grad and go and was on a chartered flight. We were to supposed to meet her at the airport very early Sat morning after PIR but the 160 sailors on that flight went straight to the jet and we didn't get to see her. There were a lot of very sad parents in the airport that morning. She is in A school in Pensacola. She has classed up now and doesn't have too much time left there. We are finally going to get to see her this weekend. We are going to Pensacola to spend the long weekend. She has been pretty homesick and even though we are going to see her this weekend she still wants to put in a chit for the following weekend so that she can come home for just 1 or 2 days. As much as I would love the extra time with her I think it is crazy to spend the money to fly home when she will be coming home for a couple of weeks in about a month. I hope everyone is having a great Monday :)
  • Oneofalot

Lala Ribbon Queen, you should let her. She probably really misses home. MY daughter is having a hard time with missing home. She love the navy but it is hard for them to not be there. Plus she probably has nothing else to spend the money on.
  • Oneofalot

You know what we do at family parties. At the door there is a bucket to drop your keys in to it. and when people are ready to go home we have someone ( usually me) stand at the door and decide if they can drive home. If they can't we direct them to a bedroom were they can stay until morning. It only works if the person that is hosting the party has a big enough house. My sister in law usually does the parties because she has a big house. When we get together we are a total of 25 people. wrong, 24 my daughter is not here any more.
  • Oneofalot

I agree! You shouldn't have to take care of there kids. IF they are going to get DRUNK they should hire a babysitter. We use to when the kids where little. I never get drunk. I don't even drink. My meds won't let me, so that is why I am the one that takes keys away. I use to get the babysitter also. I'm not watching other peoples kid. I use to have a friend who thought just because she was over she did not have to watch her kids. Remember I said USE TO.
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Blondie, how can we not share joy when a mom is able to connect with her sailor?? I hope my g'daughter will soon be where we can Skype again. Right now it is like she is off in a black hole but I take comfort in the e-mails. They make my day!

Jean, I think your gift of a concern in San Diego is great. I know that it will be much appreciated.

Lala, A couple of days at home can really recharge. I understand the reluctance to spend the money for such a short time. Just treasure all the time you can have ... it sounds like she will.

Blondie, you should not have to take care of other people's kids. It is hard, however, when you see the parents acting irresponsibly because it is the children who suffer.

Jane, I am so glad that you enjoyed a supper out with your son alone. That is special time always.
  • Oneofalot

cool. I hope you have reservations to go camping. We will probably not find a place to go.
  • Oneofalot

I wish I could. It would take all weekend to get there. It sounds really enjoyable. Maybe I could play sick for a few days. LOL. That would be nice to get away from here but it's to hard.
By the way my daughter really like the idea of a concert for her birthday. So I am going to buy her tickets and send her some money for a nice dinner out. She tried to put up a fuss but I told her I wanted to do this for her. and I used the big PLEASE word with her. She broke. She is doing it for me and I bet she will have fun. Her only probable is to find someone to go with her.
  • Oneofalot

No, it is a certain show and she already looked into it and can get the time off. She would not miss this tran-seberian orchestra concert if it was playing in the next state. She fell in love with the concert last year and can't wait for it this year.
  • Oneofalot

That would be cool. Yes, it is there Christmas concert. They are coming here on Nov. 13th. I am taking my second oldest to it. He loves it. I could always buy more then 2 tickets. If you can get down to San Diego on the 18th of Nov.
  • Oneofalot

That would be a cool Idea. I will have to see if she would know.
I am out of here. My day is done. YEAH! I made it through another MONDAY! See ya tomorrow. Bye!
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Good luck, Blondie. I think if you did not have so many irons in the fire you would be bored silly.

We are supposed to have hot weather again today. I have lamented our lack of A/C so much this summer. I must have been out of my mind when we built this house!
