Blondie--I don't want to hear about you or Jean in the hospital from over exertion, and I don't know what I would do if you were not on here, so I am glad you take good care of yourself.
Blondie--WHAT!!! The whole long weekend of not talking to you, fine, but if you are not on here bright and early Tuesday, I will have the police send out an APB.
Jean,
Still praying you get all better soon. I think my weather here is going to be like your weather. Today it has been cold and rainy!!! Yesterday it was rainy also but not as cold. It's supposed to get down to the 50's at night. They say it's not uncommon to get snow here in October!!! And I thought NE Ohio was bad!!!
EQ,
I'll be here this weekend. Once I get some of these boxes unpacked so we can move around this tiny apartment I'll be able to sit down and spend more time on here!!! I need to catch up with everyone!!
NavyMom,
If you are out there how are you doing?? Haven't heard from you in awhile. And where is Joanne?? Anyone talk to her lately??
Will check in tomorrow!!!
Anna--Glad to hear that. I know it seems like a waste of time unpacking when you know you have to re-pack everything in a few months, but you need to make it homey and a little roomy. You can send some of that rain here to CA. if you want to.
EQ,
You are right - some things I think I don't want to bother unpacking but then we will be here over the holidays and I always hate the holidays when I can't be with my kids. So I think I at least need to put up my pictures them and other little trinkets that remind me of them.
I wish I could send some rain to you!!! I remember going through many CA droughts!!
Anna-- I don't know if I will feel like putting up anything this yr. My sailor might be out of A-school by Dec. but my Soldier will not be home, the first holidays without all of them together. I honestly didn't think about them not being around during holidays or their B-days.
Hello Joanne,
How are you girl?? How's your sailor girl?
Sorry I missed you today Blondie!! I slept in this morning. With all this moving by back and legs were just killing me yesterday. I was so sore I couldn't lift another box so I guess my body needed some extra rest!! Has anyone else noticed that the older we get the harder moving becomes. Things just get so much heavier!!!!!!
EQ,
Holidays are getting harder for me. This will be the third holiday season I won't get to spend with Sailor girl #1 and several years since we've celebrated with Sailor son and dil. At least we always had Sailor girl #2 and oldest son but not this year!! I'll get through it but there will be lots of tears!!!
Today my oldest son and dil are moving into their new house. Things finally worked out for them and they did get to buy the house they were working on. Almost lost it but the sell went through at the last minute!!! Funny twist of things - the previous owners of this house is moving to Evans, GA where we moved away from in 2003!!!
Anna--I am happy to hear your son and dil got the house. During the holidays we can get on here and cry together. Yes, I have noticed the older I get the harder it is to move, when I sit and post for like a half-hour it takes me a few mins. after standing to get these bones moving.
Ladies--I am worried. My sailor PIR'd Thursday, well she called for about 1 min. afterwards, then had to go do something and said she would call back in about 30mins. I don't know what to think, is she mad because I didn't make it to her PIR or did something happen and everybody on her ship got phone priviledges taken away. I am starting to really get worried. I know this is nothing compared to what you ladies are or have going through. I just wanted to get a different perspective on this.
EQ, I understand your being worried and disappointed. Unfortunately sometimes follow-through is not as good as intention. It is quite possible that our sailor did intend to call back within 30 minutes but got together with some other stand alone sailors. Then before she knew it time got by her.
I know it is hard, very hard, not to worry but I would suspect you would hear something if she were missing. Please remember that usually, "no news is good news."
Hope everyone else is having a good holiday weekend. Our temperatures have dropped and we did get two inches of rain. I am so glad about that. We really needed the rain.
EQ,
I'm sorry you haven't heard from your sailor yet either. And I do understand how hard it is to go without hearing from them!!! And what DC said is so true - they can get caught up in something else and not have an opportunity to call. I know sometimes when sailors don't have families with them after PIR, another family will "adopt" them and take them along with their sailor. Also if she is a grad and go she could be getting her stuff together to head out to the airport. They like to get them out there right away so they can"hurry up and wait" at the airport!!!!! If she is staying at GL for A school then she would have to pack up her stuff and move from the bootcamp side to the A school side of the base. Even tho' they graduated from bc they are still kept busy and watched until they leave RTC completely. My daughter spent three days at bc after PIR before she had to report to Meridian. She said they were kept busy the whole time cleaning and straightening things up to get the barracks ready for the next batch of recruits.
Hope this eases your mind somewhat - I know how hard it is!!!!! And I hope you hear from her real soon!!!!
DC,
Glad you got some rain from that storm. You didn't have any damage from high winds or surf did you? It is chilly here in MI also!! It seems like it went from summer one day to late fall the next!!!!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!!!
Anna and DC--I hope you are right. It is just not like her to say she will do something and then don't, even though she has had w days to call. It would shock me if she went anywhere with anybody as she is extremely shy. Her A-school is there in GL so I know there was no airport involved. That is another thing she was told her A-school would not start until Sept. 14th. I just hope you ladies are right, even though I am still going to worry myself sick until she calls.
EQ,
I'm sorry - I understand you will still worry about your girl!!! I would also!!! I hope you hear from her soon, and let us know when you do. Her school may not start until the 14th but they would most likely still have her move over to the school side. She would probably like it there better than the RTC side!!! She would just be on hold until her school starts. What is she going to school to be???
How's your weather there in CA????
Anna--Believe me when I hear from her, I think everybody will know and I won't even have to use this site. LOL!!!!!!!!!!! She is going to be in DC=Damage Control. The weather I think, is starting to cool off, it is only suppose to be in the upper 80's. I don't leave the house much, afraid of missing my sailor's call.
Hey!! Have you finished unpacking????? Have you gone out sight-seeing?????? I am going to be soooo jealous of you around the holidays, when you are having a white Christmas.
I think I am going to stop talking about my sailor, because I know you Ladies are getting tired of hearing about her not calling, I know I am getting tired of it.
NavyMomXXXY--I am not speaking to you anymore.LOL!!!!!!! (snow, pine trees). Thank you for saying that. I just wish she would hurry up and get in A-school so she can go buy a phone. I can't even mail her, her laptop until after Sept. 14th, that's when she is suppose to move and send me her snail-mail address.
Krissanna's Mom--I will tell you that she gets to make 3 phone calls, the I am here, the I am a sailor and 1 sometime in the middle. I thought I would die between them. Have you heard about the Navy crud, it is a nasty cough and runny nose and everybody gets it. When she calls and tells you she is homesick, just keep telling her how proud you are and how much you love her, keep the conversation upbeat. Mine just PIR'd, so if you need to talk I am on here along with a lot of extremely friendly Moms.
EQ,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner!! Hubby and I put a shelf up in the laundry closet so I can put some stuff up on a shelf out of the way. No way am I all unpacked yet!!! Haven't even started in the bedroom or bathroom yet!!!! Did a little sightseeing - there is a small marina and park downtown and a beautiful view out over the lake!!! I'm sure it will be beautiful when the snow comes but after several feet it will probably stop being so pretty!!!!!!!
And please don't worry about boring us by talking about your sailor!!!! That will never happen!!!!!
NavyMom,
So glad to hear from you again - missed you!!! I wish your son a safe deployment. And I understand about daughter changing their plans!!! Mine does that quite a bit!!!!
Welcome Krissanna's Mom,
What a pretty name your daughter has!!! If your daughter is lucky she might get a couple extra phone calls in there. My daughter had some outstanding events in bc and was given an extra phone privledge. Very short - but it was always so good to hear her voice!!!! Just remember - we are here for you!!!
Anna--No reason to apologize. I know you don't live on here like I do. I am glad you got to do some sightseeing. Thank you for being so nice and saying that.
NavyMomXXXY--WOW!! Sorry I missed that last part of your post. Is your son home now?? When does he leave?? I hope you enjoy every precious second with him. I will be praying for his speedy return. I thought that all women had the right to be indecisive. (except daughters) Right!!!! LOL!!!!!!!
Hey, NavyMom, good to see you back. Oh, how I understand the ups and downs of a sailor's views on Navy life. Enjoy your son's visit.
Our weather has turned cooler ... feels like fall. I hope that it lasts this time. We drove over to Acadia to have lunch. Now DH told me it was a wish and a prayer because it was Labor Day weekend. It was a lovely drive but Jordan Pond House was overrun with people. We drove through the parking lot, looked at the crowds lined up around the doors and headed home. We picked up a couple lobsters for dinner for this evening and had lunch at home. We went by one lake that was an incredible blue because the sky was so clear. I don't think I have ever seen it like that. So although we did not have lunch out I am glad we had the drive!!
CAT--I know I won't have any say when she gets to her first ship duty, but right now, since she is waiting for A-school to start, I can still (if she ever calls) tell her what to do, like not spending all her money the first time she has weekend Liberty. I know when she gets out of A-school and comes home she will be spending it with me.
Yikes, Kyle Melissa, you have been through a scary time! Earlier this summer I had a bout with an infection turning septic and it is scary how quickly it can take over! I imagine with a MERSA virus it was way more serious. I am glad that you are well enough to be at home.
Navy Mom, It is hard to have a sailor with a home port on the other side of the world! Skype makes it much easier.
NavyMom,
If it ever does "get easier" I'd like to know the secret!!! I understand - my son had two deployments in the gulf and I didn't like either one. He was on a carrier both times so I knew he was safer than being on the ground, except when I found out about some of the things he volunteered for!! I think what saddens me the most is that now that my sailor son is married and has a child, he won't be able to come home like he used to. Three just can't travel that easy!! And I feel bad that I've gotten to take two trips - one to see sailor daughter in WA and one to see son and family in NV, and hubby wasn't able to go along. I just miss my kids!!!!
Sorry - didn't intend this to become such a downer!!! I'm trying to reach out to you!!!!! Keep us posted on your XX and I'll keep XY in my prayers!!!!
Kyle Melissa,
So sorry to hear you had such a problem after your surgery!!! That sounds scary. I'm glad you are better now and pray that you continue to get better!!!
EQ,
Heard anything from your girl yet?
Cat1,
I'm jealous - - that you are close enough to your daughter to visit when she's in port and second that you are close to San Diego!!!! I was stationed there and ended up staying for 8 years. Love that city!!!!
NavyMomXXXY--You have got to keep your head up about your 1 sailor seeing the world and we will be here waiting on pins and needles to hear any news you get from him. Your other Sailor is probably so gung-ho and wants to be like you, that she will take the hardest job and succeed just so you will proud of her.
(Plop plop fizz fizz) Oh what a relief it is!!!! I got to talk to my sailor for about an hour. She has been really sick and has been SIQ. I am floating on air to have heard her voice.
EQ,
Your last post wasn't there when I typed my question!!! So sorry she was sick but oh so glad you were able to find out what happened!!! If only they knew how much we age when we are waiting on pins and needles to get word!!!!!
Not they would intentionally want to make us worry but it's just the nature of the beast!!!!
Anna--I think I aged at least 10 yrs. worrying about her this long weekend. I told her if she ever does that to me again I am going to call the President LOL!!! and make him personally find out what's going on. It sounded SO good to hear her voice, even though she is still coughing her head off. I thought I was dreaming when that 847 area code showed up, I didn't want to pick up the phone in case I was dreaming. She said that her Div. is moving across the street in the morning, and will find out who will be in the room with her, but other than that, she doesn't have any idea what she will do since her A-school is not suppose to start until the 14th. Even posting this, my heart is doing somersaults.
