@Jean- will pray for your Mom and you as well.

@Blondie- my Mom sent my recruit a gift card that we ordered online and we customized it with the prayer that you posted last week; so, everytime my recruit uses her gift card, she will have/read that prayer. Thank you. It truly is a beautiful prayer. My oldest nephew was married last July and his bride was similar to your daughter and I am glad it's over!! Hang in there.
  • Oneofalot

    Thanks Ladypinkhatter
  • Anna

    Jean,
So sorry you have been dealing with health issues with your Mom. Definately keeping you and her in my prayers.

    Cat,
Sounds like you had a wonderful time with your girl. I'd really love to see San Diego again after all these years. I hear downtown has changed so much!!!

Glad everyone else seems to have had a nice weekend. This weekend was very special for me in that I got to talk to all four kids in one weekend. My dil finally found a job in the Pittsburg area where her and son just got their new house. Now she will finally be moving from Harrisburg to Pittsburg for good and starts her new job next Monday!!! And perfect timing since this Friday is their fourth anniversary!! They've been living separate lives since May - so glad that is finally over for them.
Sailor Girl B (Catherine) is doing well but she is really missing her fiance who is underway on a sub. No contact for long stretches of time!! Sailor Girl A (Jennifer) had her first surprise drug test this past week and the office was not prepared to have a female!!! I guess they've been used to dealing with guys only for awhile and were totally unprepared!!! It was a funny story she told but I can't really tell it all here!!! Let's just say some secretary got pulled in for a job above and beyond the call of duty!!!! And Sailor Son is doing well - even got to hear the little baby squealing in the background!!!!

Hi ladies...I'm hoping today is a lot better than yesterday! Over 110 degrees yesterday in So. Cal, parents not cooperating regarding travel to graduation, and now on top of hoping my recruit is ok and making it through bootcamp, I have to hear all the "what if's"....what if I make these arrangements and she don't graduate, what if she gets sick or injured, what if I pay all this money and she don't want to sight see or go shopping...blah, blah, blah. Hope today is better; if not better, at least a little cooler :-)

@Anna- glad you had a great weekend. I can't wait to talk to my recruit.

    @Blondie- LOL!
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning everyone.
While the doctor saw my mom yesterday and she did not give a very good out look. She has 3 bad infections that the medicine could kill her while trying to treat her. So PLEASE pray that the Lords will will be done. If she is suppose to go let her go fast but if not have her show signs that the meds are working. Last night was the most horrible night of all. I'm just taking one day at a time. Still at work because they move her out of ICU to a normal room. Thanks for letting me just vent.
  • Oneofalot

    Thanks!
  • Anna

    Jean,
Sending prayers for all your family and your mom. Such a stressful time. Sending you big hugs for peace and comfort!!
Come and vent anytime you need - we'll be here for you.

    dmarie,
Glad you got to hear from your girls. Hope whatever the not good reasons are work out for your girls!!

    Have a wonderful day MOMs!!
  • Oneofalot

    Thanks
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Hi Guys...just checking in!
~ Jean - praying for you...sending you a big hug and hope that you can find some peace and comfort in prayer

~ ladypinkhatter...stay positive. You need to tune out those "what if's." They will drive you crazy!! I was there (just a few weeks ago), so I know that it is very stressful. People here were very supportive, so emotionally, you are in good hands. My sailor had some issues in boot camp that could have easily pushed back her graduation date. As for tickets, the refundable/changeable ones were so expensive that I opted to just book and have to pay the change fee if it came to that. And pray pray pray! Stressful, yes. A gamble for sure. It is scary and I will pray for you and your daughter. If you need anything, do not hesitate to email me and ask...any of these fine ladies feel the same! :) THey were my lifeline and still are.

As for my sailor, she is doing great...PIR was fantastic!! We spent a wonderful weekend with her and was tearful (of course) when it was time to return her to base and leave. That was very hard on me. I still have not recovered and I miss her terribly...cannot wait to hear from her again!!

Sending hugs to all of you!!
  • ladypinkhatter

Thank you all for the encouraging words. I will do my best to keep a positive focus on my daughter.

@Jean- I am speechless. My heart goes out to you and your family. I will continue to pray for you, your Mom, and your family.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Continuing prayers for Jean and her family! Jean, Sending you hugs and warm thoughts of support.

Ladypinkhatter - hang in there...it does get better. Anxiety will come and go! :) Sending positive thoughts to your sailor to be!! And supportive hugs to her mother.

Blondie - that is a lot going on...hang in there, Momma! Hugs and prayers to you too!!
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone
  • Oneofalot

Blondie thanks for reminding me that I need to pick up my meds at the pharmacy today.
  • Oneofalot

Thanks Mande's mom. My mom last night look like she was coming around. But that could be that they left her alone for once. Thanks for all the prays and nice words. I am still hoping my mom will pull through this and come home.
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Jean, I am sending prayers for your Mom's recovery. I am glad that last night was an improvement for her.

Blondie, Many hugs to you. It sometimes seems like when it rains it pours ... everything goes haywire at once.

Ladypinkhatter, many prayers for your daughter's timely finishing boot camp. Don't worry about whether or not she wants to sightsee or shop. You will enjoy your time with her and that is the important part. I know that some of the other moms have said their daughters just wanted to enjoy a long shower or bath and veg out in the hotel. That is special time as well.

I won't be able to catch up on everything. We were off to Michigan for a few days. It was fun seeing all of the grandsons in their finery with their dates for the homecoming dance. The uniform for the day for the grandsons was black ... black slacks, black shirt, black shoes, black belt with a tie of some variation of purple and silver. They did look sharp.
  • Oneofalot

Ladypinkhatter, if I remember from my daughters trip through BC all she wanted was really food, sleep and a shower to herself. She really did not care if she saw things. She was just happy to get out of there for awhile.
  • Oneofalot

Joanne, I am glad you got to see her. Even though it was short it was time. That is what I miss most. Is the time I can be with her. I will not be going down for Thanksgiving. She told me that the ship has her scheduled to work the whole weekend from Thursday- Sunday with only time off to go to the concert that I sent her tickets to. So I am hoping for Christmas. That she will be able to come home for Christmas.
  • Oneofalot

You take care of yourself to Blondie!
  • Oneofalot

There you go. That will help with the aches and pains. relaxing sounds good right now.
  • Oneofalot

Please be careful about allergies. But I will join you in Tea. Maybe that will be a nice relaxing time for me. I take what I can get also.
  • Oneofalot

Thanks so much. Yes, I do feel better about 30 minutes ago. It help me get through my boss telling us that one of our co-workers husband died last night. Your peace help me get through that with out really breaking down and crying. Thanks so much. I feel it. The Peace that can get me through the day.
  • Oneofalot

    What spelling errors!!!
  • Oneofalot

I also have relaxing music on. As my cubical partner says it is elevator music. She doesn't like classical music.
  • Oneofalot

I can't. They won't let us listen to channels that we have to streem into the office. I do use Pandora to listen to music though.
  • Oneofalot

Pandora is a station that you can put your play your own music. Go online and put in Pandora and it will play your music. You pick from there selections but you can put in the title of music or the person who sings it and they will pull it up for you. It is really cool. A friend at the office told me about it.
  • Oneofalot

Do you have speakers that are attached to your computer. That is how I get it. And no it does not cost anything. It is FREE.
  • Oneofalot

You just have to put up with 1 commercial every 3 or 4 songs. And that is really short. It has all the religious singers on there.
  • AmeliaGrumma (RCU)

Today is week 2-5. Got two letters and while reading them--got a PHONE CALL! She cried and I was the supportive one and said a few more weeks! Then it'll all be worth it!
  • AmeliaGrumma (RCU)

Thanks Blondie--she called her Nana next and told her she cried after talking to me! Nana & her cousins that were visiting Nana told her to suck it up--6 weeks is nothing! LOL Such love! They are all so proud of her!
  • Anna

    Joanne,
Sorry your daughter will be deployed over the holidays. I hope you had a wonderful visit with her though!! Always hard to have those visits end!

This will be the third year in a row I won't get to spend any time with Sailor C (Catherine) and in fact this year won't have holidays with any of the children!! :(

    HaleesMom,
So glad you got to hear your daughter's voice!!! And letters to top it off!!!

    Jean,
I hope you get some good news about your Mom. Still sending prayers for her recovery!
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Joanne, I'm sorry Kasey will be deployed over the holidays. Our G'daughter will be in Japan for Christmas and New Year's but is hoping to come home in January. It looks like she will make it home for her birthday.
  • Anna

    DC,
You should plan a trip to Japan with Blondie!! You guys could be traveling companions!!!
  • ladypinkhatter

Hi Ladies. I was just catching up. Long day. Started looking for another job (mine may be coming to an end soon, no money in the school system) and sent my recruit another letter (the third in less than two weeks). I am sending her anything and everything positive (updates on her favorite tv shows, entertainment news, scriptures, poems, etc.) but what I really would like is a phone call or letter--I just want to know she is ok. A friend of hers from church is going into the Navy too. She said she is going to DEP office next week. My daughter may be shocked.

Blondie and Jean- please take care of yourselves!!

    MandEsMom- thank you.

HaleesMom- I'm jealous....lol (really happy for you). Two letters and a phone call! But way to be supportive and "never let her see you sweat" :-)

Are there any Moms or do you know of any Moms who have daughters on Ship 11 Div 365? I am starting to think my daughter is the only female in that Div...I keep meeting Moms in that Div. with sons....lol..
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone
  • Oneofalot

Blondie I am glad you are feeling better today. I hope it continues for you. I pray that it is a long stretch that will last for months.
  • Oneofalot

I wish I lived closer then I could help you. I love to make cupcakes. I use to make them for my kids for school. I miss that a lot. My daughter informed us yesterday that she has a new boyfriend. I don't know if that is good or bad. I really like the last one.
  • ladypinkhatter

    Good morning Ladies.
Blondie- thank you. My faith will get me through this job situation and all my situations. It has before and I'm sure it will again. I just need to keep my mind on Him. I also asked PIR group, no response as of yet. I am glad that you are feeling better and I will be praying for you this weekend (it's almost over!). I like what you were saying about the holidays. I am single, never married and I am used to not having her around the holidays (sharing her with her father's side of the family for years); but would not be the same if I couldn't at least hear her voice, I'm sure. Church and God around the holidays (or anyday) is truly a peaceful blessing! Have a great day!!
  • Oneofalot

I am not sure I will like him. He is on her ship with her.
I swear that my work is trying to turn us into Popsicle. It is so cold in here I have my jacket on.
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Let's see if I were wealthy (Hah), I would go for Friends and Family Cruise; then for the holidays and again for cherry blossom season. Since I am not, I guess I will only go for the cherry blossom season. The g'daughter is coming in January and I am going in March. Alas, it is all crammed up within a couple months and then it will be a long dry spell. I suggested that she might want to see her mom or dad but she said she wants to "come home." I think she likes the peace and quiet here. She says it will allow her to get her head screwed back on correctly.

Jean, I hope that you like the new boyfriend.

Blondie, hope you get some rest during all the chaos.

    Hi, Joanne.
  • Oneofalot

    Good morning to Everyone
  • Oneofalot

DC Thanks. I probable will never meet him. Knowing how my daughter is. Unless it gets really serious we won't know who he is.
  • Oneofalot

Doesn't she know that there are steps in doing cupcakes. The frosting is last so you don't feel like eating them while you are putting them together. Like you feel like eating them now that you had to make so many. LOL
  • Oneofalot

Believe me I have been and still are.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Hi All...Happy Friday! I finally get a breather at work so I thought I would check in.

Jean - new boyfriend huh? Sounds complicated, especially being someone from her ship. Good luck...I hope you like him.

Blondie - Please try to have some relaxing moments mixed in with all the chaos you are facing. Sending you hugs and prayers of patience. I know I probably would have lost mine if I were in your shoes.

Pink - how is everything going with you?

DC - Home is where the heart is...it must make you feel so warm to know you are your sailor's center!!

As for me...well, just keeping busy. Going camping this weekend with cub scout! Should be fun. Although it is still a little too warm down here to camp, the humidity did drop a bit...pretty day outside.
  • Oneofalot

MandE's Mom, I am not sure I will ever meet him. The way she goes through guys he might be gone next week. LOL. At least he will be gone a week after the concert I am send her too. She asked him to it. She seems to dump guys a few days or weeks after an event like that.
  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

Jean...lol...well at least you know she is at least developing a knowledge of things she does not want in a man...that is what I call dating! :)

My daughter has been dating the same guy for several months now. Nice guy, but maybe not a complete match for her. Time will tell.
  • Oneofalot

Yeah, while it would of been nice if she would of kept the other one. I really liked him. He was good to her. If this guy even darns anything with her, He'll pay with the wrath of Mom Bear.
  • ladypinkhatter

MandE'smom- I am ok now. Glad the weekend is here. It's a challenge reading that several people in my PIR group and Div group have gotten phone calls and letters and of course, I haven't...but I am staying positive. Ladies here have been a wonderful blessing. While your with the cub scouts this weekend (which sounds like fun...I had a blast when my daughter was in girl scouts), I will hopefully be finalizing travel arrangements to GL for my parents and myself.

Jean- I don't think they ever like the ones we like....lol. I made the mistake of telling my recruit about the one I liked and he was history!
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.
While my weekend was very busy. The hospital sent my mom home. There is nothing they can do except give her time and comfort. So hospice was called and I got hold of the Red Cross to get my daughter home. She arrives tomorrow. They really work fast. I expected at least a few days and it was 24 hours before my daughters ship commander know other then Christina told them. So the troops are all come in.
  • Oneofalot

They all ready sent her to the Chaplin. She seems to be strong then I am some times. She will be in tomorrow some time. We are waiting to hear if she gets to work as a recruiters helper so she doesn't lose her vacation. Then she will be here for 10 days. At least she will be able to say good bye. The hospital said yesterday that it could be anywhere from 2 weeks to months. but I just thought it was best for her to come home and say good bye while my mom remembers everyone. ( Late stages of Demetria setting in) I guess the Red Cross thought so too.
