Moms of Daughters 2

Good Morning to Everyone. I am back. Everything is done for my mom. The service was on Wednesday and all went well. My daughter decided to surprise us by showing up at the church. It was really great to see her. I am really glad she was able to get home for the service. Apparently her command walked the request up the chain by hand in order for her to get off the ship. I think that was really cool.

Welcome, Ms. Ampi. Like Blondie, my sailor is stationed in Japan. She is with Airwing 5 which is assigned to the George Washington. When in port, she lives in Atsugi. She is an AT.

Jean, I am glad that things went well for your family with your mom's services. It was very special that your sailor was able to make it home for the service.

Blondie, we had cold weather but it is balmy today. It is also raining rather heavily right now. So it is a dark, overcast day ... a good day to stay inside and get some things accomplished.

Blondie, it has been sunny on Wednesday and Thursday here. So far it is not raining but it is coming you can feel it in the air.

She was only home for that day. She is back in San Diego as I speak. She is not sure if they are going to fly her back to the ship or if she is stuck at San Diego until the ship gets back.

I came back today to work. It was so cool. No one knew she was coming except her brother who picked her up at the air port. It was so cool. I saw her first and took off to give her a hug and then all the palm barres left one at a time. The guy from the funeral home turned to tell them to go and there was no one there and then he looked and saw Christina. It was so cool. I have never saw my husband cry as he did when he saw her. It was a very good surprise. It really made the day ok.

Yikes! That really sucks. Make him work. You don't want to be there until tomorrow. LOL

Jean- glad everything went well at the funeral and your daughter's visit...Wow! How awesome! What a wonderful surprise for you and your family! I got a little teary eyed just reading it.

Blondie- back up to 90 degrees in CA. Beautiful but hot. It's going to be weird going to IL where it is cold.

Ms. Ampi- My only child is in bc and getting ready to graduate next week. Taking it one day at a time.

Ladies, battlestations were last night...waiting on pins n needles for THE CALL...don't know how I got to sleep last night...lol. Have a great day everyone.

I want to thank everyone for being there. It really made this easier then I thought it would be.

While the weird thing is. I know my mom is home. When I was there to say goodbye I had a picture that come to me of my mom at the pearly gates and on the other side of the gate was her mom and dad and her 2 brothers and her 2 sisters that had passed away. At that time I know she was home. I thought that was so cool to get. I have been at peace ever since.

I'm glad you're back and that everything went ok for you and your family. How wonderful that your daughter got back for the day!!! I was tearing up reading that just visioning the scene. When my mom passed away we held off on her services to give my Navy nephew time to get home from the middle east. It helps those of us who are left behind. Still keeping you in my prayers - it takes time!!

Thanks Anna. I will need the prayers as we go into reading of the will and all that. My sister and I have sort of mended our ways with each other but it could take a little to undo what has happened. I am to the point that I really don't want any thing like money from my moms stuff, I just want things. Like blankets and things that I will remember her by and I think that is helping with my sister and I. My mom did not want us to fight and I am trying to not do that.

Hello Ms. Ampi!! Glad to see you here!!! I got a chuckle from your post below. You know you fit in so well with the rest of us when you said "Thank God for this site it's keeping me INsane"!!!!! And you haven't known us that long yet!!!!! We are all a little crazy but it keeps things interesting!!

Whoo-Hoo.....my recruit is officially a SAILOR!! I am so proud of her!! We were able to talk to her for a long time. She is good but tired been up since Wednesday. Can't wait to see her next week and give her the biggest hugs EVER!!

Ms. Ampi- I was were you are seven weeks ago and seven weeks from now you will be right were I am right now! Until then hang in there...it is quite the rollercoaster ride full of highs and lows but worth the ride.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I bet those flowers are beautiful!! It's funny how these sailors can send surprises. My daughter Catherine got a delivery of flowers this morning from Nick who is underwater somewhere in the Pacific!!!!
Jenn said she was driving home in a blizzard last night!!! And had snow again today?? Are you getting any?? We had snow on the ground Friday morning. I guess it's getting to that time!!

Congrats lady pink hatter! Blondie that was so nice- Happy Birthday!!! My daughter said in her letter she was upset she wasnt going to graduate by my birthday (next week) I told her Thanksgivings better anyways - a day to give thanks seems so approriate for a PIR weekend... I am so thankful already.

Lindalay, I know that has to be a disappointment for your daughter but at the end of the day, no one will be aware of it. I agree that Thanksgiving weekend is a great day for a PIR. Send her many hugs from me!

Good morning to Everyone. Happy Birthday Blondie. Sorry I was not on this weekend to say it earlier. Took a weekend off and did nothing but sleep and go to a stupid IME( Independent Medical Evaluation) for my shoulder.

Other then I have a dumb doctor. The doctor that did the test can't figure why they have not done an MRI on my shoulder. It has not gotten better and now it is almost a year ago that I hurt it. Plus my thumb that my doctor said it was tendinitis could be carpal tunnel instead. My doctor has been ignoring that my fingers are tingling numb all the time. I can't have Ibuprofen any more for swelling. I am deathly allergic to it now. That was what the hives were all about. So I am going to call my adjuster this week and see if I can go to a doctor outside of my health coverage. Non Group Health doctor to see what they say. Other then that it will take 2 weeks for the results to come back.

Thanks. They will because the IME doctor is ordering it. He is also ordering testing for my fingers. YEAH!

He was ordering some kind of Nerve thing. I don't know what it was called. But at least it will finally get something done.

So sorry you are still having such trouble with your shoulder. Glad that you had a weekend to just rest and do nothing!!

Hubby and I had a wonderful visit with a priest we knew well when we all lived in Annapolis. He became a family friend and we've kept in touch with him for all these years. Got to go to his mass Sunday morning and then he took us to lunch after. 20 years just fell away and it was as tho' we just saw him last month!!! It was so wonderful to catch up!! We hope to get together a couple more times while we are up here!!!

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it and you will be enjoying that time with your sailor girl!!! I also think a Thanksgiving weekend is better than a birthday weekend - - they get the one day completely off (unless they have duty of course!!)

Anna- glad you are enjoying your trip. I am not packed yet (I'm working on it..lol) but it appears that my body make be reacting to the stress/excitement of all of this but I will not let that stop me from getting on that plane (packed or not...lol).

I understand about stress and anxiety!! Keep in mind - there is always a WalMart nearby so if you don't get a chance to pack everything just go without and you can buy new once you get there!!!!! Who would let a little thing like packing get in the way of being with your sailor!!
But seriously, take a deep breath and try to relax. Taking time out for yourself sometimes then makes it easeir to accomplish what you need to!!!

Thanks Ladies for the prayers and well wishes. I will try to take your suggestions but can't wait to see my daughter. Had a long talk with her last night. She sounds good and hopeful about the possibilities that her future may hold.

Well ladies I have found out that she will have liberty for the entire weekend from wednesday to saturday night then go back to base and then sunday also during the day! WOOHOO! I get overnights! definately a belated birthday present for me LOL -

Good morning- Nikki called me last night to make sure i got her password for PIR and she started to cry- thats the first time for a bit that she has broken down with me. I think the whole thing is finally taken its toll almost 3 months in bootcamp and RCU. I comforted her the best I could and told her count down the days 13 more days and we will see each other! made her feel better. Her brother posted this on his facebook " I am proud to live in a free country and thank all the men and women that have served in our military including my sister" so I read that to her and she cried a bit more but that was more happy than sad so it was good. I cant wait to see my girl!

It won't be long. The time will go quick now.

I hope it is happy crying.

I know what you mean. I am staying away from songs today. It was bad enough that my aunt sent this wonderful email to me today about it being 2 weeks since my mom went home. So I am sort of staying way from sad things today.

That really sucks. Hope he shows up early so you can go home.

Thanks for the veteran graphics. Hubby and I are going to Applebee's for dinner tonight. Talked to my sailors yesterday and all three of them are having dinner at their local Applebee's today also!! Sorry you are stuck at work waiting for someone to show up. That can be very frustrating - especially if you have other things you could be doing!!! Hope he comes soon!!!!

Thanks Anna - the poor kid has been through a whirlwind so I guess a bit of crying was due- she had been so good about not crying with me (always with her dad lol) cause i always said we are not wasting time crying! I wanted as much info as possible but i let her get it out last night she really needed it I could tell. Her ankle feels good and shes just ready to finish finally. Jean I am so sorry for your loss and I know how over whelming grief can be - we lost my mom in law suddenly 3 years ago and it had taken me at least a year to regroup. she was a fantastic lady, more like mom than in law. My prayers are with you for strength during this time.
