I know. My husband can drive in anything. He would be able to get her back to the airport even if it takes 9 hours to get there. That was how long it was the last time it snowed for the people who lived in the Southend to get home.

  • Oneofalot

That sounds like Seattle. The last time it snowed it caused so much trouble even my work closed. They were telling people to stay home.

  • Oneofalot

We'll get snow sometime this year. We usually get it in Late January and early February.

  • Oneofalot

Blondie, have you killed your bosses kids yet?

What handy work. The trees down and all the rain and mud? LOL just kidding.

  • Oneofalot

YEAH for you. Sanity will stay.

  • Oneofalot

I know you are really proud of her but is it really worth the 2 hour drive to get there to only see her for 5 minutes. Think how frustrated you will be. You'll have to catch up on work, the drive, not seeing her as long as you want. Why don't you tell her you will do something for her special after the event on another day. Would that work? I know she knows how you feel and knows you are proud of her. Heck I'm proud of her. That is hard work. Pray and see what the Lords says. That is always the best advice.

  • Oneofalot

Isn't funny how they can lay the guilt trip on us, like we use to do them. LOL. They really know how to get us. I would really pray about it and see what comes of prayer. I know sometimes that is not what you want to hear but it really does help most of the time.

  • Oneofalot

Sorry you are having to really need answer NOW. I hope you will find peace in what ever the answer is.

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

    Blondie only 5 more days.

  • Oneofalot

I know how that feels. You just want to be there.

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

I am so sorry for your loses. It is a shame that the Lord decided that way, but I am glad you won't be on the bad roads. I will pray for the wife and family who lost all there 3 kids. That was very sad.

  • Oneofalot

That is horrible. I had a two friends that lost there brothers to house fires while I was growing up. One of them was a twin. He always felt it was his fault that his brother died. They were in the same room and he got out and his brother didn't. The other one always blamed there dad, who also died in the fire. I remember the whole kindergarten class was upset. So I can imagine what that kid is going to feel. I hope the parents don't lay a guilt trip on him. I will pray and send it off to every prayer chain I have. I hope that you can comfort them and keep there spirits up during this trying times. I will also pray for you to get through this. Say Congrat's to your daughter for me. It is a big thing to finish with 2 degrees. Even one is a big thing.

  • Oneofalot

I still wish I had the snow. I would even take the temperature to get it. It is 34 and dry right now. I think our high is suppose to get to the low 40's. That means rain again. I grow up with this but, it could snow sometimes. Enough with my whining.

  • Oneofalot

She is just getting stressed out about her family coming to see her. That is why she is getting sick. I will pray for all of you. Keep you all healthy and happy.

  • MandE'smom(Hi, I'm Mary)

    Good Morning Ladies,

Just a quick note to say hi!! Miss chatting with you.  I have been insanely busy.  And as of 4:30 tomorrow, I will be a whole lot busier because I am picking up my Sailor Girl from the airport!! YES!!

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!! Love to all of you!!

  • Oneofalot

Oh I like that one. I'm passing that one on.

  • Oneofalot

    Merry Christmas to Everyone also.

  • AndreaS61

Good morning all! Congratulations to all of you who have sailors coming home for Christmas. Enjoy your holiday. Mine will be coming home on the 22nd - not enough leave to come home sooner. Oh well. Will be thankful for every minute she's home. Right now, I'm home with pneumonia so I'm forcing myself to stay in bed and get better. I'm sure this is God's way of telling me to slow down. Haven't done any shopping yet and I'm trying not to panic.

  • Oneofalot

Mine will be also coming home on the 22nd. Her ship cut there leave so she will only be in town for less then a week. At least it is over Christmas.

  • Oneofalot

Andrea, that really so bad. I am sorry that you are sick. I've been there when my sailor was home. It was no fun. She will understand and you will be able to go out later. I will pray for health on the whole house.

  • Oneofalot

I'm so excited for you and your family. When is your PIR. This weekend or after the holidays?

  • walker12003 ship03 div028

    It is on 12-22-10

  • Oneofalot

So You will be able to get her for the holidays then. Or does she have to be back before then.

  • walker12003 ship03 div028

We get her for christmas and then she goes to her A-school on the 27th

  • Oneofalot

That will be nice. At least you get her for part of the Holidays. My daughter will be coming in on the day your daughter PIR's. That is so exciting. You should get to the base early. The earlier you get there the better the seats you get. It is so cool that she made it.

  • walker12003 ship03 div028

  • Anna

    SDPam,

Wow what a wonderful letter!!!!  Mine never had time for more than one page!!!  So glad to hear she is doing well.

    Walker,

WooHoo on your I'm A Sailor call!!!  How long will you be able to stay in GL or is your daughter going home with you?

    Andrea,

Please take care of yourself!!  Chicken soup might help!!!  Don't worry about getting everything done - can you delegate somethings, or have a close friend that could pitch in for you?  The main thing is you want to get healthy before your girl gets home!!!

So happy for all you moms who get to spend the holiday season with your  loved ones!!!  Enjoy every moment.

  • walker12003 ship03 div028

Walker - congratulations to your daughter. She's made it!! Have fun at PIR.

Thank you for all the get well wishes. I spent the day in bed, again, but got a call from my daughter. She's coming home tomorrow instead of the 22nd. YAY! That's the best medicine.

  • Anna

Great news Andrea and Walker!!!!   Enjoy your visits!!!

  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Andrea, rest today so you will feel better tomorrow for your sailor.

  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Blondie, I see you have been on the same roller coaster as all of the families of the 7th Fleet.  I pray that you have a very safe, uneventful and pleasant trip to Japan.  I pray that your daughter is there waiting for you and can give you your long awaited hug, and then some.  Here's too good weather.  Enjoy yourself.

  • Oneofalot

Blondie I will be praying that the airports will be clear and that you will be able to see your daughter. The Lord Knows that you need to see her and get that hug you have been waiting for for so long. You have a great trip and give her a hug from us.

  • Oneofalot

Sorry about being so swamped. I know what that feels like and I don't even have people to deal with except on the phones.

  • Oneofalot

Good Luck. I will pray that you do.

  • Oneofalot

    Same to you!!!

  • Darnell

Hello Ladys,  wanted to know if anyone had a daughter who left for boot camp the week of Dec.13?

  • AndreaS61

Okay ladies. I need a reality check. My daughter has been home since Saturday and I haven't really seen her. I've been working this week, but I assumed (silly me) that she and my younger daughter would run around during the day and then be home at night. Wrong! I come home to an empty house. Get up to an empty house. Last night she was supposed to pick me up from the transit center. I stopped and got pizza and all and then no answer on either daughter's phone. I ended up taking a taxi home to ..... wait for it... an empty house. I'm still sick and feeling sorry for myself, but I'm really sad (and a little hurt). Any words of wisdom from you experienced Navy moms?

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone

Blondie if you are still in town, Have a safe and fantastic trip and Merry Christmas and a great New Year.

  • Oneofalot

For Everyone on Else. You guys have the best Christmas you can have. Merry Christmas to Everyone.
  • AndreaS61

Oh, Darnell - My heart goes out to you. I know how hard it was to have my daughter go off to bootcamp, but I can't imagine what you must be feeling having your daughter leave so close to Christmas. Hopefully, the RDCs will let her call home on Christmas.
  • Oneofalot

Andrea, I am sorry that your daughter is not even home to talk too. I have had that happen to me. My daughter likes to spend time with her dad but never seems to have time with me when she comes home. We can miserate together. If you find an answer let me know. I tried to talk to my daughter by leaving messages on her phone but have never really gotten an answer.
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Hi, Joanne.  Good to "see" you.

Darnell, boot camp is tough any time and I imagine even harder when it is over Christmas.  I agree with Andrea, I hope that they give the recruits phone liberty.

Andrea, hugs.  I know that doesn't help but it's the best I can do.  I have read on other groups where sailors have come home and spent the time with friends.  They just don't think.  Alas, I have to hang my head in shame because when I came home for Christmas my freshman year in college, I was here, there, and everywhere but at home.  My mom asked that I spend Christmas at home and I promised.  Alas, when Christmas came, I ate Christmas dinner on board the air craft carrier that was in port.  I now rue what I did because I have much better understanding how much parents/grandparents want to visit with children/grandchildren.  Sometimes I wish there were a re-wind button on life.
