Congratulations O Mom!!! Have a safe trip to PIR and enjoy every minute of your visit with your sailor girl. Where is she off to next??
Sandy,
Glad to hear your daughter made it safely!! Yes, she will be kept busy for quite awhile now!!!! Remember that we are all here for you!!! You know that box is coming but it can still knock you for a loop!!! And that's ok. Keep us posted!!!
Just got a letter from daughter in bootcamp. (PIR 3/11). She said they had had intense remedial PT session due to some of the girls not working well together. She was worried they would not get the extra days to write letters. Would it just have been the females who got the PT or the whole division? Any one know? She said that the next day (last Monday) she would be getting more info about A school and what Nuke rating she would get. Please add her group to your prayer lists - she did say going to Mass that Sunday made her feel better.
Hi, My daughter is in bootcamp and is in Ship 02 Div 916; it is kind of hard as so many of the moms online have sons in Boot camp and have not been able to chat with a mom of a daughter; I think this is such a wonderful opportunity for a young woman but it does not come without it's perils. Are there any other moms out there with daughters in my daughters Ship/Div would love to talk;
When can they go to the NEX and purchase things my SR said she was out of conditioner and wanted me to send it which I will do but it seems they should be at least able to purchase some of the basics? And she is worried about makeup for PIR a study in contradictions! Any way this is a new group for me so nice to meet you all.
Kathryn, my daughters group at BC were always in that extra PT thing. They had time to write because Sunday was sort of like a day off for them. My daughters group couldn't even run the whole way the first run they did. It drove my daughter nuts. She was really to prepared for BC when she went. LOL.
hello all- Nikki just finished boot campo in november -- do not send anything but letters and pictures DO NOT send musical cards - some officers make them to IT to the song till its over. they hate them LOL. Nikki asked that i send her makeup but by the time i got the letter it was too late to send. I would send approx 2 weeks prior to PIR to make sure she gets on time. My daughters first division was ITed alot and it is only the division that messes up that gets it from what I was told and if one messes up the division takes the punishment. I sent every letter with an american flag sticker on the back and nikki never said anything so I guess that was okay LOL I always wrote i miss you and love you and at the end did a count down for her... Number your letters to her cause sometimes they dont get in order- my daughter loved the church service every sunday while in BC it really helped her mentally. as they get further alnong in boot camp they get more time to write (tuesday or thursday evenings and sunday) as the RDCs see fit of course. Your daughter will tell you what she is doing but you want to find out when her battlestations is and get yourself blue candles to light that evening for her.. that is the last week just before PIR ... are you going to attend her PIR? It was the most wonderful day! My daughter is now in A school and on hold due to SIQ again (upper respiratory infection) so hopefully next week she will find out her orders after... I am sending her another care package out today .. she loves getting those things from mom :)
I have been ill all week myself and took the rest of the day off today and am curled up on the couch sipping a soda trying to get rid of nautiousness. been feeling like this since tuesday so hope i can get over it by monday!
Sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad Linda. I hope and pray that it goes away soon. And yes, church service is a must. That is were they also get info on the outside world is in services. My daughter loved though. She said that they RDC wouldn't let them go for the first 2 weeks because there was to much to learn. Then they were allowed to go every week. We even went when we were there for PIR. It was really cool.
We were going to go for PIR also but since she had a full liberty weekend she didnt want to go back to base unless necessary LOL thanks for the well wishes - I am not a very good sick person..
Lidalay, hope you feel better. Thank you for your insight. Blondie, I am SO ready for the weekend - we spent last weekend and first of this week running the regional science fair here. My poor husband gets drafted to run special awards so he is as ready as I am for the weekend.
Another one is Danny Wright. He plays piano and it is so soothing. I use it at work to keep my area argument free. It seems that it stops people from have a fit by my desk. It really is cool to actually watch. They can be arguing all the way up to my desk but a few seconds by my desk it stops.
His music helps. Believe me. I use him to drive home with. Traffic is really bad and it helps me be nicer to the people that cut me off. lol It help the day I had that bad migraine.
I thought you guys were suppose to be getting really much warmer. This weather is stupid. We are suppose to have wind and rain ourselves this week and could see some snow on the weekend. YEAH!!!!!! The farmers almanac is so far right on.
yes Blondie, we have strong winds today and all last night.about 40-50 mph gusts. it should be warmer tomorrow for us in NH. and then we can push back snow and hope it melts off some.while i wate for the weather to change we will bring up more fire wood... again lol
Blondie, I am sorry you weren't feeling well last night. I hope you are better today. I will pray that you recover fast and be back on your feet fast.
I can understand this migraine thing, I have had a migraine since the doctor put me on my antibiotics for a sinus infection.
Pray also for my daughter, They gave her the small pox shot and she has not been well since. She has blood in her urine and has been throwing up with a migraine since. They have her on antibiotics also but don't know what is wrong.
I am right there with ya. I am not sure I will be making through the day but I always try. Boss won't be in today so that helps. It sort of makes me want to make it through the day. LOL. Like I said I will keep praying that you recover fast.
Good Morning Ladies!! I'm back finally. Was able to read everything but never had internet working long enough to talk. I welcomed several new members so I hope they introduce themselves.
After spending two weeks in different hotels, and then 3 days of driving, loading a UHaul, more driving, and then unloading a UHaul I'm glad to be in an apartment and sleeping in my own bed. Plus I have my kitty back and she always makes me feel better. I still have less room to put stuff away (I really miss the apartment we had in Raleigh!!) If these kitchens get any smaller I'll be cooking in a closet with a Coleman propane stove!!!! It's the little things that can drive me nuts - like our refrigerator door can't be opened fully because it is up against a doorway. So we can't open one of the drawers to put in our produce!!! Insanity is all around!!! I just need some prayers that this situation will work out for us. I've already had two run-ins with neighbors while moving in and I'm just not having a real warm and fuzzy, comfy feel about this place. But I have faith that things will get better soon!!!
Blondie,
Sorry you weren't feeling well - hope you get better soon.
And Jean, I hope your daughter gets better real soon. Those vaccines can really cause problems even though they are supposed to keep us from getting sick!!! Crazy!!!
Hope everyone else is doing well and also their sailors!!!! Don't be shy!!!
Anna, have you tried pushing the refrigerator out away from the way so that the door can be free of the doorway. It might make it so you can open the drawers to use them. Most managers push the refrigerator up to the wall and they don't work well that way. I use to be an apartment manager and that was what they told us to do. To make more room. So see if you can move it a little out. I hope it will work for you, I know how frustrating it is to not be able to use something.
Thank you for the suggestion. I tried but I cannot move the fridge!!! There is no space between the cupboard, fridge and wall. I'm going to wait until hubby gets home and see if he can help me slide it out a bit. Now, if I can just figure out where my cups and glasses will go!!!!!
Just got a letter from daughter in boot camp. She can't wait to be in A school so she can have her undies again! Something about being tired of granny panties! She also wants her own pjs. Luckily if she gets them and cannot keep them she vis in the same city as her sis who has agreed to hold clothes and such (and to bring her home for dinner whenever possible!) Any ideas about how soon she gets to A school the grandbabies and I can go visit? My husband is going to PIR (its his birthday present), but it is too expensive for the babies and I to also go, but we can drive to Charleston!
Most all A schools are structured the same - they have to earn liberties with each phase they move up. She will talk about phasing up while in school. For the first few weeks it's almost like bc still - they have to be in by a certain time, can only wear their uniform and can't leave the school area. Then if there are no problems they are given more freedom, can stay out overnight, and can wear civies. There is still a limit on how far they can travel from the school (like on weekends) and she will find out what that limit is once she gets there. It's like 300 miles. For you visiting her, it's just a matter on how soon she gets liberty to leave base and what kind of curfew she still has.
Hello all- well my girl just passed mod 4 so now just mod 6 and 7 and 12 days of EN and then off to whereever! She is so excited to get out of GL and start her career. Hope all had a wonderful week so far- fo all that are not feeling well my prayers are with you for a speedy recovery and Anna it seems that your week has not been the best - I am so sorry since I know how excited you were to be in your own place again. I hope it all turns around for you -- take care all and will talk soon!
Thank you, Anna, for the info. I will continue to show my ignorance, so please bear with me. Does not wearing civvies include not getting your own pjs? Or undies when not in school? I hope every one is having a better end of the week. On a totally unrelated note, last night was observation night at my grandkids dance studio. Watching 6-8 year old in dance is bound to improve anyone's week (unless you teach them, I guess!).
Please do not ever apologize for not knowing these things. We all start out as navy newborns. I served 5+ years myself years ago and still learn new things!!! Whenever your daughter is outdoors she will have to be in uniform until she phases up to wearing civies. But what she wears inside her room is up to her. And as long as she doesn't advertise no one will know if she is wearing her favorite undies. As long as the hot pink bra doesn't show through!!!!!
I am in at work for a little while. I have been down with I don't know. It started with a migraine for 2 days and now I just don't feel good. So I am in for a little while because I needed to some things at my desk. Have a great weekend and talk to ya on Tuesday. Monday is a holiday. YEAH!
Maybe it is the same thing. All I want to do is Sleep. Thanks for keeping in your prayers. Every little thing will help. Just pray that I make it through getting the stuff off my desk before I really have a problem. I hope you feel better also. I will keep you in my prayers that you feel better soon also.
I'm not going to be working from home. I can't. There is no way I can do my work from home. I am just going to get what I can done here at work and then go home and sleep.
