Nanette, my daughter also has very curly hair and had always worn it long and loved it. She got it cut about a week before she went. Sais she wanted to get used to dealing with it short before she went. I thought it looked super cute, especially with one of the cute headbands. She did say that in bc it is getting very dry and she longs to really condition it. Soon for her now. I don't think she had to have it cut again, but she might not have told me - they do try to protect us. I guess it is a control issue for some. And a way of saying "You are navy, then a gender".
  • Anna

Yes, once the get into A school and then certainly once they get out in the fleet they have so many more options.  My daughter's hair is much longer now and she wears it up in a bun for work.  Then when she's not in uniform she has her nice shoulder length hair!!

    Kathryn,

Maybe you could take some nice conditioner with you to PIR and she can always give herself a nice conditioning treatment while in the hotel with you guys.

  • Anna

Now I always thought duck butts were kinda cute!!!!
  • kathryn56

My stars,Anna. - you are a mind reader. That is what I had planned!

I am at school today for the engineering competition. My husband and (random insult) SIL were glad to see me leave. They are putting down a new floor in the hall and seemed to think it might go better without my supervision. Imagine!

  • Anna

    Kathryn,

What is that about great minds thinking alike?!?!?!  ha ha

I hope you like the new floor when they get done!!!

  • kathryn56

Blondie, glad you had a good weekend in spite of the weather. Aple coffee cake sounds pretty tasty.

Anna, yes the floor looks very nice. Somehow, they managed without me!

Right now, it seems as if time is crawling. I suspect the floor was Dad's way to pass the time!

  • Oneofalot

Lindalav, They still don't know what is wrong with her. She has to sit at the doctors tomorrow on stand by for an ultra sound other wise they are to far out for her. She needs to get back to the ship.
  • lindalav

So sorry to hear that jean.  I hope all goes well- please keep us posted
  • Oneofalot

They will figure out what is going on. I hope very soon. It is frustrating my daughter to know end. She would like to get back to work not just sit around doing nothing except Dr. apt.'s
  • lindalav

I can relate- Nikki feels that way about GL!  Cant wait to get out to fleet
  • Oneofalot

From what I have heard it is not much better out in th fleet. Other then they work 16 to 18 hours a day.
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

Yes, this all started after her small pox and anthrax shot. The doctors don't think it was either of them. I still think it was.

  • Oneofalot

Even with family history of the shot. My brother had problems with the shot and still does today. The military is still trying to cover that one up. At least the VA helps him out.

She even went to the specialist before the shot to let them know this and they told her that she was ok to get it.

She doesn't think it is the shot either. Every time she get bounced around she get sick. She finally found if she eats and just sit there for 2 hours after eatting she get to hold the food down. LOL. She can't do that on the ship though. So at least she is finding ways to keep food down. Veggies and Fruit stay down a lot easier then other foods. I think that is why they want to look at her gull bladder. That runs in the family too. She has a sucky family history.

  • Oneofalot

That could be it. Who knows other wise. I think they will find it. I hope soon. She is scheduled to leave for her ship soon. I really hope they don't send her if they don't know what is wrong.
  • kathryn56

Good morning everyone! We are finally getting rain here, which is much needed. Talked to daughter yesterday. She sounded fabulous. Saturday will be here soon!

Jean, this whole business sounds so frustrating. Hope it gets figured out soon. I know your daughter is ready to be back on her ship.

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

We are very windy and very wet. I am building an ark as we speak. Blondie do you need one too. lol

  • Oneofalot

OK I will have it done by the time hell freezes over. OH wait it has. at least the one in Canada has. Nay, I get right on it. How hard is it to build 2 anyway. Just do it twice, right. LOL.
  • Oneofalot

I like that. I really do hope you have a very easy day today Blondie. I hope it dries out and the sun comes your way. You really need a nice warm day.
  • Oneofalot

Nay, what you need is a day to yourself. You might get wet getting there but if it is only a block away go get your nails done. You can walk. They say exercise helps you feel better or in my case it breaks me.lol. ( I hurt my knee playing racket ball).
  • Oneofalot

    Love those pictures.
  • Oneofalot

    oh Thank you.
  • Oneofalot

I really do love that saying. I even pass them on because they touch me so. Thanks.
  • Oneofalot

You too. We are suppose to get really bad winds later today so if I don't blow away I will hear from ya tomorrow. Stay safe.
  • kathryn56

Take it easy and stay safe, ladies. Weather here is just a bit drizzly, Actually, that is bad because we need rain. Blondie, I wish we had your rain for a few days. Might cut down on fires this summer. Spring will come!
  • navyfam

Blondie-praying for you and your hubby and your whole area! Your apple cofee cake was a BIG HIT! With the hubby and the Bible Study Ladies!!!!  I left some with hubby as he works out of the house and he said, " keep that recipe! I know there won't be any left so good thing you gave me some before you took it to study."  There were only a few pieces left which another girl & I took those and some other goodies downstairs to the preschool ladies....of course they look forward to Thursdays when we bring the leftovers! LOL

  • kathryn56

I bet they LOVE those nights. Treats are always morale boosters. I am back at schol tonight to watch my students in the spring play. Should be cute, but I prefer the other year when they do a musical (every other year). I always take my granddaughter to those.
  • kathryn56

If anyone has loved ones in the area affected by the quake or tsunami, I hope they are safe. Very frightening.
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning everyone

Blondie is your daughter ok. Have you heard from her?

  • Oneofalot

I will be praying for anyone who has loved one or any sailor/ military personal over there.
  • Oneofalot

Thanks for that update Blondie. I am glad she is ok.
