Blondie, good to hear your daughter and others are okay. What a year so far!
  • navyfam

Blondie, glad your daughter is safe.
  • Anna

    Blondie,

Glad your daughter is ok and that she got to communicate that to you!!  Is she on the BR or on land?

  • Anna

    Blondie,

So true!  The cleanup is going to take a long time and a really tough job

  • Nanette

Our prayers are with all of our sailors and families as well as those in Japan.  Keep us posted as you hear from your sailors.
  • Oneofalot

I will keep praying for you and your family, Blondie.

Oh by the way, Christina had her ultrasound and it came back clear. So they are doing another test on Tuesday by putting a camera down her throat. That was the day she was suppose to go back to her ship. Oh well. So sad not!!!! I am glad she is on land I can talk with her more.

  • Oneofalot

No, she will have that on Tuesday. I will let her know that is what she will have to do. She says that she has drank more yucky stuff since this all has started. She feels like she is being poisoned by everything. She has never had this much trouble in her life.
  • Oneofalot

It's because you glow afterwards. For day and days later.
  • Oneofalot

That is horrible. I can't come out of a hot movie theater without stopping out at there front and wait for my lungs to get use to the temp change. or I get an asthma attack right away.
  • Oneofalot

I am right there with you.I love my books. I even bought myself a nook from Barnes and Noble this year. It helps with my carpel tunnel of the thumb.
  • Oneofalot

I still get the book in paperback. So I have both. But it is easier for my to carry the Nook. The kindle was to hard for me to read off it. It caused me to get headaches and the nook doesn't do that. I don't know the different but it works.
  • lindalav

helllo all been watching the news all day - my prayers with them all..

  • Anna

    lindalav,

Have you heard anything more regarding the young lady in bc who suffered from breaking her leg?  Do you still talk to her sister?

  • Oneofalot

The news said that they had over 50 of them. And they were 6.0 or above. I guess it will take time to calm down.
  • Oneofalot

On the coast of Washington we only has a 3 foot wave hit. Alaska had a 5 foot wave. Hawaii was hit the hardest. yikes it right.
  • Oneofalot

Unforantly Japan keeps have earthquakes of 6.0 or more. I will be praying it calms down over there. Sorry about the spelling.
  • Oneofalot

Volcano's going off. Another one. What is going on

Hi Everyone, I just joined your group. My daughter is very excited about joining the navy. We're handing in her paperwork next week. Her recruiter is great and we love all the support and encouragement we receive there. I am very supportive and excited for her. She is interested in the arts and media, possibly journalism. My ex-husband was in the Air Force for 13 years and we had a good life during our time. It's all what you make of it. My son is finishing up tech school with the Air Force in April and will be assigned to Germany.
I was excited to learn about this site. I'm looking forward to learning as much as possible.

Hi, Wanda. Welcome! My daughter graduated bootcamp on Friday!

I picked hubby up from airport Saturday and we drove to Charleston. We got checked into the hotel just as she called us that she was on liberty so we picked her up. She went through the stuff I had brought up and sorted it. By then her sis was off work so we headed out to eat and were joined by her boyfriend who also made the drive (and was spending the night on Sis's couch). Great fun!

Today, we picked her up and all went to brunch then got her some stuff for her room. Then we did the hardest thing. Took her back to boyfriend's car put her stuff in and kissed her goodbye so that the two of them could have a couple of hours together. (I hate being fair!)

Funny story - When she got to her room yesterday, she saw that her roommate had put stuff down and left. She looked at it and they had put a guy with her!!! One of the senior women on the hall helped her carry his stuff down and left him a note telling him he had been re-assigned. I guess he was in such a hurry to get out he did not notice he was on a female hall!

  • Anna

    Kathryn,

So glad you had a nice time visiting with her!!!  Yea, we hate sharing them don't we?!?!  That's funny about her "roommate"!!!!

  • kathryn56

Anna, Thank you so much for the idea about the medal - she loved it and is wearing it.
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

Did everyone have a good weekend.

    welcome Wanda!
  • WandaG

Thank you Kathryn, Blondie and Jean for welcoming me.

Thanks Kathryn for sharing your daughter's story. It's interesting to hear the different experiences each parent goes through with their child. Congrats on your daughter graduating boot camp. What rating did she get assigned?
  • Oneofalot

Kathryn, I am so glad you gave her time with her boyfriend. I know it is hard thing to do but you know it was the right thing to do. I had to do that with my daughter when I only got a few hours with her but she wasn't going to see him even longer. As it was they did not even make it through the first few weeks of her gone after boot camp. She broke up with him because he was trying to get her to only commit to the 6 year she sign up with. She can't do that. She wants to make a career out of the Navy and they just did not see eye to eye on this. So I am really glad you did give this time.
  • lindalav

Welcome Wanda!  Kathryn glad you got to spend time with your sailor!  Jean hope they are figuring out your daughters illness.. Blondie glad the weather is finally cooperating for you!
  • Oneofalot

No they have not found out what is wrong with her. She has more test on Tuesday. The ultra sound came out clear. Still can't hold food down. At least not a lot of food.
  • lindalav

    have they done an MRI?
  • Oneofalot

Yeah that was the reason they took her off the ship. She had that done 1st. It came up clear also. Evenly they will track it down. Thanks for asking.
  • kathryn56

Jean, how frustrating (and that is too mild a word) for you and your daughter. She remains in my prayers.

Yes, it is very hard to share. Jean, were you glad when the breakuo came?

Blkondie, I hope the clear weather holds for awhile.

  • Oneofalot

Thanks, she really does need our prayers. She really isn't keeping a lot of food down and every time she tries to do anything like work out or anything fun it leaves her sick. So being away from her ship this time is not fun and games. She would rather be with them. As she puts it there having more fun helping out then what she is going through. But thanks for everyones prayers, I'll keep everyone updated as I hear from her.
  • Oneofalot

Sorry about your tooth. I will pray that it doesn't hurt. I keep praying for your daughter too. Thanks for the update on her. It eases my mind a little.
  • Oneofalot

Been holding our breath for everyone over there. Hopping everything to turn out ok.
  • Oneofalot

What a rough day you are having. You need to have a nice relaxing soak in the tub. Calgon take you away.
  • lindalav

Praying for all of the service men and women out there.. been watching then news constantly and following facebook continually also...  theres nothing worse than a broken tooth- i feel for you blondie!  keep us posted jean and i am still praying for your daughter - its so hard when we are so far away!
  • Oneofalot

Sorry that you have to wait on Calgon until tomorrow but at least you can treat yourself tomorrow.

    Thanks Lindalav.

  • navyfam

Blondie-sorry to hear about your tooth, teeth problems are the worst! Praying you get in sooner than Thursday and like Jean said no pain....also praying for your daughter, it's gotta be hard to have her so far away and while it's nice to have people ask it's hard to talk about.  Praying God wraps HIS loving arms around you and you feel HIS presence.

Jean-continuing to pray for your daughter ast well...thanks for the updates. Praying for God to give the doctors eyes to see!

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone

  • Oneofalot

Thanks Blondie. I will let you know when I find out anything. It will probably be really late today because they have to knock her out and she doesn't take to well to that. I hope they find something and sort of don't. I like having her this close even though she is 2 states away. Her brother is going down there this Saturday to spend time with her. She asked him to come. That is really a new thing. There relationship has  gotten better since she left. I like that.
  • Oneofalot

So am I. They were close growing up, since my first two were  10 years older then them. But they have gotten closer since she left. I think she is getting closer to family now that she is away and seeing the value of family. She misses us.YEAH! sort of.
  • Oneofalot

I know what you mean. Christina does that also. I always feel for the ones that don't get a package. I always get Christina to give me there address so I can send them a package. So at least they get something from someone who really does care they are alive.
  • kathryn56

Good morning, ladies. I just wanted y'all to know that I have you in my heart and prayers. Blondie, I hope you hear from your sailor soon. Jean, I know what you mean. My sailor and her middle sis went througfh a time when they could not seem to get along. They both seem very happy to be in the same area now, so I hope they will grow closer again - they used to be inseparable. I also hope the medical testing goes well.

Those of you with loved ones in Japan now, I am joining my prayers with all of the others. As hard as it will be, at least they know they are making a difference.

By the way, Blondie, we did emergency foster care when we lived in NJ!

  • Oneofalot

    Thanks Kathryn.
  • Oneofalot

My daughter is on the Reagan, she said there is a policy on the ship that if you get pregnant they have to have you off the ship with in 24 hours and then you are stuck on shore duty until the baby is due.

  • lindalav

hello all- hope all are doing well.  Jean my prayers still with christina!  I know how frustrating it is to keep being tested and not find anything! I went through similar experience a few years back myself, different symptoms etc but lab rat mode.  Blondie I hope you hear from your girl soon.  Its got to be so chaotic there right now.  just heard had another 6.0 after shock.  My prayers are with everyone affected by this!
  • kathryn56

Good morning, ladies. Just wanted to say hello and let you know I am thinking about you all.
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

While my daughter called late yesterday. She is doing fine after there big test. She will not know any results for about 2 weeks. The biopsy will come in probably before that but she was to drugged up to understand anything they said. So she really did not make since. Hopefully she will call today. She will at least be off the ship for 2 more weeks because that is when her appointment is with the doctor.

  • Oneofalot

Blondie, I don't mind it when you ask about my daughter or anything. I make me feel like there is people out there who care. Thanks.
  • Oneofalot

    Amen to that.
  • Oneofalot

That is so cool. I just got goose bumps from it. Thanks for sharing.
  • ladypinkhatter

Hi Ladies. Thought I would stop by and say Hi. I hope everyone and everyone's sailors are doing well and are ok. My sailor has been deployed for a couple of months, rode out the Tsunami in Hawaii, and is now on her way back to home base with her grandparents who are on the Tiger cruise with her. I've been good. Nothing exciting happening with me (which is just the way I like it....lol).

Know that I miss and think about you guys alot and am truly grateful that you are all here and know that  I pray for our Sailors consistently and steadfast. Have a great day!
