Talked with my daughter last night. She sounded awake. She is has a very back sore throat and her stomach still hurts but she figures that will hurt until they find out what this is. She said that she went for a ran around the block ( the whole city) and it felt good to get out. She was not suppose to drive so she was getting a little claustrophobic in the house. Of course she know she did to much when she got back a promptly got sick. She told me she is really tired of not being able to work out. So pray that she will be back on her feet and feel better soon. thanks.
Thanks Blondie. Sorry to hear about your glasses. That really sucks. Your tooth and now your glasses. Hopefully they are easy to repair.
I am glad you got to hear from your daughter. They are really tired over there. Christina keeps in touch with the people on her ship and they are really exhausted and not really slept well since this thing in Japan.
Let her know to tell them that ginger works wonders for sea sickness.
She is staying in touch by email and FB. I guess because she is using the military computers maybe she is able to get through. I don't know. But they do get email once in awhile on the ship.
Hi, ladies. Glad you both spoke to your daughters, but wish the news was more positive. I will keep adding my prayers to all of the rest.
Something silly, just because.....My daughter (waiting for A school to start) texted me she had on her green bra so she could pull out the strap to show the ones who were trying to punch any one not wearing green. I texted back "Do you mean pinch" She responded "This is the military. Pinching is for civilians"
That sucks. that happens when I go to the dentist. I hurt really bad. Tomorrow it will feel better. Put some chap stick on it and it will make it feel a little better.
You will. I always did when I got my teeth worked on. It always took about a week or so for the tooth to calm down. I have so many crowns I am not sure I have real teeth any more. All though years of grinding my teeth at night. I would break my teeth by doing so. Now I just break my night guard about every 3 to 4 months.
Jane,I am so glad you heard from your daughter. We are so very proud of the job they are all doing. Let her know that she and her ship are in our prayers.
Blondie, hope it feels better soon. I hate the after part of going to the dentist.
We are heading back to Charleston this weekend. Last weekend was just a quick run to settle Cait in. This weekend is to bring the babies to see her and (in a fab double feature) to see middle daughter in a show (she is a ballerina with Charleston Ballet). She tells us the show is pretty bad but thinks it will be fun to watch (it is called Nashville and is contemporary ballet done to country songs by a choreographer who had never listened to them before this). Cait has not seen her sis dance in a while so should be fun.
Hello everyone!! Hope all is doing well. I've been going everywhere this past week and haven't had a chance to get on here. My Sailor daughter A came for a visit this past week. It was so wonderful to see her. I took her to New York City for an overnight. We walked around the World Trade Center site - can't see anything since they are building the new tower and the construction site is fenced off and the fences are all covered. We spent the ENTIRE day walking all over the city. I don't think I've ever walked that much in one time!! We had a really nice hotel at the edge of Central Park and the next day did some more walking - in the rain!!! The day after we came home she wanted to go to Vermont just to say she went to VT!!! Luckily it's only 45 miles away!! So we walked all over Bennington, VT!!!! Then her last day we went to a mall and walked around for about 4 hours!!! But now she is on her way back home :( Hate to see her go!!! We had such a great time - I love hearing her say how much she loves to come and spend time with her momma!!!! I am so blessed!! But today I think I'm going to spend it sitting!!!! I have muscle aches where I didn't know I had!!!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Good to hear all our sailors are doing great things.
Jean,
How is your girl doing? Any word yet on her tests? Still keeping her in my prayers!!
Anna, that sounds like a lot of fun! How many shoes did you totally wear out walking around? It is lovely when they still want to spend time with us. Very nice of you to be so accommodating with the travel.
We just got back from our second trip to Charleston in two weeks. Cait and the babies were so happy to be together - but the "kids" played lots of tricks on the "mao-mao" (me).
Congrats Blondie! ok so how can we send or organize anything for this relief? i will post on the central fl site to see if we cant get a packing party going?
Lindalay, just a suggestion - maybe going to the Molly Adopt a Sailor site to organize care packages might work. I think they are waiting to hear what they can do.
Guess what I get to do for the rest of my spring break? I get to chaperone the NE Fl students going to the state science fair! Actually, it will be fun, but I will not have internet access. Pooh. We have 20 highschoolers, 18 middle schoolers and 8 adults so they will be pretty closely monitored. Yes, we do tape them into their rooms at night.
My daughte,r stationed in WA, was informed that she and some of her co-workers will be working round the clock out of SeaTac airport processing the military families that are being evacuated from Japan. I know the USO there has put out a request for help with snacks, coloring books, etc for kids, and just things to help out these families that suddenly have to leave their homes with their kids and find another place to live. Money donations would also be most appreciated. My daughter is proud to be able to help these families.
I hope you enjoy your chaperone duties. I've done that before and it can be a real rewarding experience!! And then sometimes it can be the trip from he**!!!!! Hope its good for you!!
Nanette,
Keep us posted and just remember - we'll be here when and if you need us.
Anna, my prayers are with your daughter and the others. I guess the good is that they know they are helping. But the stress it must be! And the exhaustion.
This is a cute group I will have. I am the SRC chair (she who enforces paperwork and safety rules for projects) so they are all a bit.........respectful of me.
thanks for the info i am trying to get the central florida group to organize one..i am going to see if i can get an address for nikkis friend on one of the ships out there and send one to him to share :) creative thinking Blondie thanks!!!
How about Lord please don't hit the panhandler state and the easter half of the states this spring. Let them rest. Amen. How was that. We can only hope that it works. Have a great day Blondie and everyone else.
Calm down, Breath deep. You will get through it. We always do. It is just something that happens. So slow down and breath deep and count to 10. That always helps me.
Sorry! Go home and have a nice relaxing day and don't think about the computer and the program until tomorrow when you should be at work. To day is your day off. Enjoy it. Stop and smell the roses and relax.
Hi, ladies. Blondie, I am sory the day is being difficult - and on your day off! Jean, I could use some of your peace right now. Some great advice that I will take.
We are at the state science fair. The kids are back for afternoon judging. Their day started about 6:30 this morning. After judging, it is dinner time. Then we go back to the hotel to get out of "good" clothes (I love middle school boys in their suits) and go to the mandatory mixer. Then back to the convention center at 10:00 to break down and pack up their boards. Then back to the hotal. Long day for the kids. Tomorrow its theme park till 4, dinner and the awards ceremony. Then back on the bus to get home by about 1 a.m. Thank heavens we are on a bus and I di not have to drive in downtown Orlando.
Sorry! I know that is a bummer. When our copier goes down which it does a lot we have to do the paper work in triplet. Our copier is new and shouldn't go down but it goes down a lot more then our old one did. I am sorry that you are having so much trouble. Hopefully your boss will go get a new one soon.
I agree. I have to type out our SIF2 when I send them to the hospitals. That is a really thrill to do. So I know what you are feeling with what you are doing. It really sucks. At least I don't have people breathing down my neck when I do it. Oh wait yes I do. My cubical mate. She and I don't really get along to well. I really miss the lady who retired. She and I got a long very well. This girl thinks she knows everything.
I wish. But if I did she would do it wrong and then we just lost 25 SIF2's. I hate doing that. She just wants to do it at her time and not when I can do it. I usually leave them until Friday morning to do them. They usually take 45 minutes to do and the thing ( cub. Mate ) doesn't understand that. She tries to be my boss and she know I know she is not. I have been here longer and was actually asked if I wanted her job before she came. Of course I said NO! to much stress and I don't like taking my work home with me.
I have the same troubles at work. We have had a whole new admin. take over the yr and 1/2 UGH! Came in changed tons of things, bouncing two of us (that have been there 8+yrs) around like basketballs on court. Things in the office began to fall apart they took us out of the office soooooo put us back until we got it all straightened out, then passed the job onto someone else. And they wonder why staff is not happy? Have younger ones on the eve. shift that play seem to have plenty of time to sit and text, but complain how busy they are and leave stuff for us to do in the morn. I've worked eve. for them when they are short and compared to our day shift they have more than enough time to get things done. So now we leave it for them again if it's not going to have an affect on any of our res. You get tired of picking up the ball all the time, however we will pick up the ball for ea. other because we know it's appreciated and being the older of the staff I guess we just have different work ethics that we were raised with. Not like many of today's younger that seem to have a ho-hum attitude and think they know it ALL we have a few of those too. You just want to tell them zip it cupcake! and mind your own business, but that just causes more issues. Oh well I guess it is what it is.
