    Good Morning to Everyone

Sorry to hear about your trip to the dentist. Hopefully he will be able to put it back in fast and keep it in.

When I get a temp. crown my always fall out. It really sucks when they do. So I can miserate with you Blondie.

  • Oneofalot

That really sucks. Be careful with that side of your mouth. You don't want to get the tooth infected.
  • kathryn56

Blondie, I am sorry to hear that. And then your computer being difficult, too!

On a funny note, my students sent the librarian to get me out of the room. They wrapped the room with crime scene tape, because "teaching AP Bio on a Friday is a crime!" Pretty funny. Then the girls took leftover tape and wrapped the desks of the 3 boys who have not asked anyone to prom. Silly, but harmless.

  • Anna

Good morning ladies!!  It's snowing here!!  Looks pretty but not for April!!!!

    Kathryn,

I miss working in the schools.  It's always such an interesting place to be - especially on these little "holidays" like April Fools.  Kids can have some wonderful imaginations!!!  What grade do you teach?  I hope you don't get caught doing any more crimes today!!!!

    Blondie,

Any chance he can get you in sooner?  Wouldn't that be considered an emergency appointment needed?  I'd find a new dentist if one of mine made me wait for a week with a missing filling!!!

  • Anna

    Jane,

Thanks for the info.  I always log off each night but there have been a couple occasions when something happens and I don't get logged out.  Didn't ever think about there being a connection between google and N4Ms.  I used to be private but I changed it to N4M members only.  That way new members can always look me up if they want without having to be friends with everyone.  I hope that doesn't leave my info open to everyone out there!!!!

  • kathryn56

Jane, that was a goood wake up call.

Anna, I teach 10 th to 12th graders. Love them!

I hope Blondie's computer troubles get solved soo.

We had something odd happen today. Our 8 yr old granddaughter got an offer for a credit card. We had no idea where they got her address as we post it nowhere. The bank apologized. We worried so decided to file a fraud alert but since she is a minor we have to mail a copy of her and our social security cards. Guess what? Hers is missing. I have not looked for it since we enrolled her in school. Why would we? So now we worry that her mother took it. Nothing we can do until the social security office opens on Monday, after we get proof from her school she still really exists. I hate to think the worst, but it is better to be paranoid and wrong in this case, I think. Ideas?

  • Anna

    Kathryn,

It is right to be concerned.  You're right - you can't do anything more this weekend, but I would be checking with SS on Monday.  I hope it turns out to be nothing serious, but that you find her card as well.

  • kathryn56

Blondie, glad you seem to be back on-line. I often feel like I should not be allowed near a computer , but we even have to take attendance on line. Our school computer staff says that I do impossible things to their precious in-schoolinternet (of course, hubby says that is because they are incompetent).

Hope the weather is better for your ladies. We are having very nice weather today - 75 with a breeze - the grands are outside very happily.

Daughter said she got the highest score in class on her math test, but did not do great on mechanics. The class average was not passing so they all have extra studt time and she has weekend watch. No fun for her this weekend, but more like what she was actually expecting. She treated the last couple of weekends like a gift, not a right, which was pleasantly mature. Yay!

  • Anna

    Blondie,

If you are just clicking on the red X you are merely closing the window but not logging out of N4M.  If you look at the right side of the page just under your name there is a log out link.  Click there - the page will go back to N4Ms main page and then you can close it.  You really shouldn't ever stay logged in on any internet site when you aren't actively using it.

    Kathryn,

Your comments surprises me - - I thought all the incompetent school computer people worked in the school systems I was in!!!  How did you get any????  he he  jk

  • kathryn56

Anna, so glad (????) I get to share incompetent computer people with others. What grades/subject do you teach?

Hope everyone is having a retful Sunday. Anybody else remember Classics Illustrated? Wish they were still around. We finally got our 7 year old grandson to voluntarily read - we found graphic novel versions of some children's books.

  • Anna

    kathryn,

I started out as a substitute teacher, teacher's assistant (our school system called them parapros) and secretarial.  Then I got a full time paid employee job as a high school secretary.  I did main office, then vocational, then prinicpal's secretary.  I always wanted to go back to college to get a 4 year degree to be an elementary school teacher but it just never did work out for me.  I miss working in the school though - it can be very fulfilling work!!!  Very crazy as well!!!  :)

    Good Morning to Everyone.

    Good Morning to Everyone.
  • Oneofalot

Hi Blondie. Weekend was ok. Monday was very busy.

Daughter had her test yesterday. She won't know anything until Wednesday. The test made her sick though.

  • kathryn56

Jean, sory it made her sick, but maybe that is a good thing?

Good morning, all! Horrible rain here today. My kiddies actually came in shaking! Supposed to clear quickly though since the rain is moving at 50mph.

  • Oneofalot

I don't know if it was a good thing or not. She said it was nastiest thing she ever had to eat.
  • Oneofalot

Hi Parider. She sounds like my kind of kid. I play instruments like she does. I self taught myself how to play most of them. My main instrument is Violin. I majored in Music in my first time through college. Since there was no way I was going to make a living with it I went back to get a business degree. I should of kept going. Navy was not an option for me at the time.
  • Oneofalot

I learned a lot of them in high school. The conductor in my orchestra class would have once a week change. Where we would change instruments with one of the other students and we would get some instructions on that instrument and then play the music we had in front of us. It was really fun. By doing that I learned to play a lot and went further with it. At one time I had most of the instruments I could play. When my kids started to play they had there pick.
  • Oneofalot

I am glad there is still good teachers out there.
  • Donna-Amanda's mom

My daughter has been on hold since the earthquake in Japan. She just received the phone call that she leaves on Monday to meet the Reagan. We are so excited for her to start this new beginning of her journey.
  • kathryn56

Prounavymom, congratulations to your daughter. I hope the next part of her journey goes well. I will say a prayer for her. Are you excited? Did she get to come home?

We are much luckier weather-wise than you Blondie. Our nastiness stopped by noon. Gray and cooler, but not bad, especially compared to yours. Hope it gets better.

We had a faculty meeting after school today to tell us to use the same grading scale, but we could "norm" our scores individually to fit the new scale. ???

  • Donna-Amanda's mom

Kathryn- She graduated March 11th and was home from then till the 30th. She was supposed to fly to Japan on the 30th but they put a hold on everyone going over there. So I guess just a week being on hold is good. She really hasn't been on hold for any of her school or anything so she is lucky. I hear of people being on hold for months or even a year. We are both very excited about this.
  • Anna

    parider and Jean,

My kids could very easy fit in with you!!  My oldest son started with cello, then trumpet, piano, sax, bass guitar, and anything else he wanted to try.  One daughter was flute and violin.  Still plays violin once in awhile for fun.  Other daughter piano and any percussion instrument you could throw at her!!!  Only middle son picked up one instrument - guitar.  Too bad their age difference meant they weren't able to play together!!!!

    proud navy mom,

Glad that your daughter is finally ready to go and do that which she has trained for!!!  Fair winds and following seas for her!!!

    Kathryn,

Glad your weather isn't that bad - I'll have to peek at your page and remind myself what part of the country you're in.  We've had very cold rain and lots of wind.  I worry about our friends we left behind in GA.  Heard they had some really serious weather conditions through there.

  • kathryn56

It really is impressive how much musical talent those kids have! (None here).

South Ga did get hit pretty badly yesterday with wind damage. (where we liove is often called south soth georgia).

Blondie, I hope you hear from your sailor soon. The first two weeks while mine was waiting to class up, I got at least a text every day. Now that classes have started, it is much less frequent, which is how it should be. Sigh.

Hope every one has a great day.

    Good Morning to Everyone

    Good Morning to Everyone

We had snow yesterday about 1 and1/2 inches. It was great. It is gone now but can you actually think it did it in April in Washington. WOW!

  • kathryn56

    Good morning, all!

Jean, I would love to have that bit of snow! It sounds so pretty!

Blondie, do you EVER rest? Are you really the Energizer Bunny in disguise?

Hope the day goes well for all of you. Got a text at 11 last night from middle daughter "Guess where I am and what I am doing?" (Not what you want at that time of night) She was with a girlfriend at the firestation getting the firemen to help her friend, whose 4 ft monitor lizard had crawled into her dash! Apparently the firemen were taking lots of pics as they took the dash apart. I wimped out and went to sleep before the thing was extracted. Guess I will find out today how it went.

Did get a quick text from youngest. She had been studying and had "watch qualifications" to complete so no time to call. Glad to hear she was doing well.

  • Oneofalot

Blondie Good Luck. I hope they can fix it also.

Doing good today. Got in the car to go to work and it decided to give me a dead battery. Now I have to find money to get a stupid battery. Hippy!!!

  • kathryn56

I'm sorry about the battery, Jean. I hate those days!
  • Oneofalot

So do I Kathryn. I just hope that is all it is. I have never had any trouble with this car since we bought it. It is a Toyota and I love it. So I am praying that is all it is.
  • Oneofalot

I just wish Summer would come. Then we all can complain about the heat and remember the cold as a far away thing.
  • kathryn56

Richi's mom, I will keep your daughter and her friend in my prayers.

Jean, I know I am ready for hot weather but I just might complain once I get it!

Blondie, glad the weather "warmed up" for a while, at least am

nd that the tooth is fixed. I pray you hear from your daughter soon.

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.
  • kathryn56

    Good morning, all.

Beautiful thoughts, Blondie. It is hard when our babies grow up, but so beautiful at the same time.

  • Oneofalot

    I very much agree.
  • Oneofalot

    Amen to that!!!!!!:)
  • Anna

Morning ladies!!  Saying prayers this morning that our government officials do the right thing and prevent this shutdown.  I so agree with the other comments made.  With our service men and women putting their lives on the line I think we should insure they get paid MORE SO than our political leaders.  And now I'll shut up on the subject because if I say any more I'm liable to get myself in trouble!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's official - - I'm planning a wedding ceremony for my daughter Catherine.  With us in NY, bride and groom in WA, bridesmaids in OH (oh and one is in France still), and the wedding is being held in MI, this is going to be one fun plan!!!!  Thank God for the internet!!!

    CarriefromPA,

My sailor girl in WA is my youngest and she was a depper for a year - having signed up initially the summer before her senior year.  It was difficult sometimes to get her motivated to do what she needed to get done and I tried really hard not to push too much because it had to be something she did, not me!!  But looking back, she did everything she needed to do and then was gone before I knew it!!  I am so proud of her and all of my sailors.  She is happy and has grown so much - but in my heart she will always be my little girl!!!!

  • Oneofalot

My daughter was the youngest also. But she acted more like the 1st born. She was the only girl. So my 3rd son was the one that needed the motivation to do things. If I hadn't motivate him he would of never gotten out of High School. Thank God they are all out now and are trying to do what they want in life.
  • Oneofalot

Maybe, Blondie. I think it is because she was the only girl that she started the line for girls. She was always as tough or tougher then the boys. Boy did she stand up to anyone who the boys could stand up too.
  • Anna

    Blondie,

This wedding has been a challenge right from the get go.  Because groom is a submariner and is on deployment quite often, he doesn't get to just take leave whenever he wants - even if his crew is "home".  And between Jenn's school and the other bridesmaid school this will be the last chance we'll have.  By this time next year, Jenn will be leaving for OCS and two years of flight school.  So were trying to get it planned for July 16th (which happens to be my birthday!!) and they picked Gaylord, MI because that is where Nick grew up and it has the highest concentration of family members.  But yes, I know nothing about what is in the area!!!!!!

  • Oneofalot

My daughter is born the day before. Wow, I have never found someone who has a birthday in her month. That is really cool.
  • Anna

    Jean,

I wish my Mom was still with us to enjoy this bit of history - - - I was born on my parents 4th wedding anniversay.  So now we will have one more generation celebrating a wedding on that date.

When our family moved to our home in Annapolis and met our new neighbors the lady next to us has the same birthday.  We loved sharing that day and still keep in touch with each other!!

  • Oneofalot

A friend of my has the same birthday as his mom also. I think he told one time that was there wedding anniversary also. So it must be our generation thing. My son missed my husbands birthday by only a few days.
  • Anna

Yes, his mother still lives in MI but not in that area.  His dad is in various parts of MI but has been a big help putting us in touch with friends of his who are then giving us good deals so that really helps.  His mom is driving up to the area this weekend and taking some pictures for me plus she is meeting with a decorator.  We certainly need to keep costs down because we are also helping sailor son and family fly from NV to MI.  We may not have many extended family members there from our side but both brothers will be there, the new grandbaby and Jenn so that will all be good!!!  Catherine's leave has been approved so now we're just waiting for groom's leave!!!!  Hopefully, he won't be on this next deployment which is days away - they're sending him to a C school instead.  That really makes this wedding possible for this time period.  Just say a prayer that nothing else comes up and he has to go on the deployment after all!!!!
  • Anna

    Richi's Mom,

My daughter is at Bangor also!!  Maybe we should see about putting them in touch with each other?

  • Anna

    Thank you, Blondie!!!
  • kathryn56

Wow! Get busy t school for a day and I miss all sorts of good stories!

Anna, congratulations and lots of prayers for all to go smoothly. What a birthday that will be!

CarriefromPA, I know the feeling. My husband was very ready to be an empty nester, but now we have our grands to raise. At least we are NEVER bored! So my sailor, although the youngest, had to become the big sister during her teen years. She has always been a nurturer, though, so that helped.

  • Anna

    Carrie,

Yes looks like the crisis was averted at least temporarily.  Now let's see if they can finalize everything.

I do want to tell you other NavyMoms, in case you hadn't heard this - - but for any active duty military member that has an account with Navy Federal Credit Union, there was a letter sent out online that the credit union was going to advance the second half of military pay for all it's members.  The government was going to give all it's military 1/2 of their pay on the 15th and the credit union would make up the other half.  I think it's amazing that they were willing to do that!!!!

On another good note for us - my sailor daughter from WA called to say that her and her groom watched the sub as it passed through the Hood Canal bridge this morning!!!!  That means sub left for deployment and sailor groom is still home!!!!  Catherine said it was bitter sweet as her and Nick are high-fiving each other and other spouses are standing around crying because their loved ones are leaving.  Although we understand their sadness, it's one step closer to accomplishing a July wedding for us!!!!!
  • kathryn56

Anna, glad the crisis was averted at least for awhile.. BIG kudos for the credit union. I am also very glad sub deployed without the groom.

We are having record tying heat here. It is beautiful, but 90 degrees already? I am not complaining, just surprised.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. My daughters are apparently together today getting pedicure. I am so glad they are in the same town.

  • kathryn56

Hi, Rebecca. I am sorry for the stress. I just have a daughter in A school so I will not be very helpful. I will pray that everything works out. My daughter is in the Nuke program and had to wait a year for her spot.

So the record tying heat continues here. We got up early and got some yard work done. We are just starting to get the pool ready so it is still a bit green. Did any one really think that would stop a 7 and 8 year old? Not one bit. Of course the water was cold so they got out shivering and wanted cocoa. Grand daughter was lying on a chair in the sun, sipping cocoa. So silly!

Talked to my youngest today. Oddly, ever since the male roomie was reassigned, she still does not have a roomie (since March 12).he is loving not sharing. I wonder if the guy is still listed as there on some list or other.
