    Lindalav,

Thanks for the info!!  Yes, please keep us posted.

    Carrie,

I know it is so hard when you are in the moment!!  Trust me - been there!!  But if I can give you a little insight - - - trust more in your daughter and try to back away from it all!!  I worried that my daughter wasn't going to finish a major project she was involved in (which gave her a two level automatic promotion when she left for boot camp) and she was not able to pass the run test the recruiters gave her.  But in the end she did everything she needed except pass the run and that didn't matter.  She still left for bc on time (with her promotion) and she continued to work on her run in bc.  In the end, she passed!!  I felt like all the drama we endured took away from the time we had to spend together, and almost made her just give up all together!!  I wouldn't do it again that way!!

  • Anna

Welcome here4kids!!  Will get a personal welcome to you in a bit!!!
  • lindalav

Ok i cheated and loaded it as my default this is from school and an example of what she will be working on -  she absolutely loves it!
  • Anna

    lindalav,

Do you know that you post a pic if you click on the second little box across the top of your comment box as you're typing your comment.  You can then browse your computer to find the picture (which you have to have saved on your computer) then wait a few moments while N4M uploads the pic and then click the add comment button.  You won't see your pic until N4M posts your complete comment.

Good evening all. Here late at school for the dance concert.

Lindalay, I LOVE the piston name!

here4kids, welcome! my daughter is in A school now bur boot camp was stressful. She had trouble with the run the first time through, but never again. (Would have been lovely to know that as soon as she passed it, but I survived!). Where will she go after bc?

Enjoy your day off, Jean! Remember that the rest of us are jealous! Do you get a long weekend? That should help you get some rest.

  • Anna

My daughter failed her run several times in bc.  She just didn't have the stamina to run the whole distance.  She was tall and skinny as a rail but just couldn't run without getting out of breath.  She failed the first time through on the final test.  Then they let her have a "motivator" run with her who helped her keep a steady pace and work on her breathing and she passed with no problems.  So they do everything they can to help the recruits pass.  They want them to pass.  I was led to believe that she had to pass her run BEFORE her recruiter would let her go to bootcamp.  Not the case!!  So after the fact I realized I spent a bunch of time worrying about her practicing her running, working on endurance, and I could have spent the time just hanging with her and not stressing us both!!!

  • 1ProudMomma

Good morning ladies.  Just joined your group.  My daughter is still in BC.  This is her third week.  I still haven't heard anything from her, although I am positive that it is because she is extremely busy.  Anyone else have a daughter join that was older?  I notice that there are a lot of 17-20 year olds.  She is 28.
  • lindalav

Anna for some reason that is not working on my computer.. I tried it just does nothing :(
  • lindalav

Hello all! well its almost final that Nikki will be home the 21st for 7 days!  Looking forward to seeing her again.  This will probably be the last visit in a while so gotta get all the hugs I can :)

  • Ms. Ampi USS Germantown

'm excited!! Today my daughter comes home for 12 days before she leaves to Japan. I know saying good bye will be the hardest thing for me to do.
  • Ms. Ampi USS Germantown

@ her4kids-daughter in bc, TRUST ME she will come home a new person. In fact may very well give you a few housekeeping tips. As I read your comment I was laughing because my daughter was the same way. Her room you couldn't even see her bed with all her clothes laying around. But now, she is a new person!! It was amazing when I last seen at PIR in January. Gotta love them!!!
  • Ms. Ampi USS Germantown

lol at least your daughter didn't put cotton balls of finger nail polish remover on wooden furniture. Have an awesome day!!!
  • WandaG

Blondie, I love the story about the 12 boxes your daughter received. That was very amusing :o)

Ms. Ampi, that is a beautiful pic of your daughter. Congratulations!!
  • kathryn56

Blondie, LOVED the story about your daughter getting the boxes. You really made her and others day!!!

Okay, I survived another prom weith no drama, no kids in trouble, etc!! Yay!

Youngest daughter "phased up" to get to wear civvies on Friday. Her sister picked up her and three of her friends to get dinner and go to the minor league baseball game. One more was supposed to go but would not because he did not pass something and would have had to be in uniform. (That made me sad to hear.) Since most of them are trying to save money, Sis found them a place on King Street (where she works during lay-off) that has half-price burgers and appetizers on Friday so they were pretty happy. There was also a good military discount on the game tickets so the kids had a fun night for pretty cheap. I hope the youngest appreciates the trouble sis is going to for her every weekend and does not just ignore her once she gets her own car (convoluted sentence, sorry)_. I adore my youngest, but she has been a "user" in the past. Hopefully, maturity and an appreciation for family has developed..

She is supposed to request permission to come home for Easter weekend. She says she had to wait till Monday to ask because she had to phase up first. If she does not get to, her sis will stay in town so she has some one to go to church with and sis will make lunch for her and her friends. Middle daughter and I are both big planners so this not knowing makes us crazy, but I guess we will just have to get used to it. It will be fine and I am very lucky that my daughters will be together no matter what for Easter and that is a huge blessing.

  • lindalav

Ms Ampi  I dont know about the changed person when Nikki came home for Christmas her room was a mess lol.  she enjoyed not having to pick up for a week lol.  Unfortunately ladies our daughters all do the same thing and not realize till they have to buy their own.
  • kathryn56

Good morning, all! Happy Monday! Please say a quick prayer that daughter does get ro come home for Easter. We do know that she will be home from June 25 to July 5!!!! Trying to schedule full family vacation for then.

Today is Senio Skip Day at school (by tradition always the Monday after prom). Sadly, my AP Bio class is mixed grades so no period off for me! I usually refer to today as juniors-clean-the-lab-day!

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

My mini vacation was fantastic. My son and I went on day trips to places that I wanted to go to and my husband did not. It was really fun to see them and pretend to be a tourist in our own state.

    How is everyone today.

  • kathryn56

    Thanks, CarriefromPA!

Blondie, I hope you feel better.

Jean, I am so glad it was fun! Sounds like the perfrect antidote to the its-still-not-summer blahs!

  • Oneofalot

Blondie, I am sorry you are fighting a migraine today.

Yes, it was a way to fight the not summer yet blues. It was fun playing tourist in my own town. I could act weird and no one would care.

  • Anna

Good Morning all!!!  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

    Blondie,

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.  Hope it gets better for you, soon.

    here4kids,

My daughter has been growing her hair back over the last year or so.  She kept it sort of shoulder length once she got out of A school and puts it up everyday for work.  I don't think she has any problem doing that because even before the Navy she used to put her hair back into a ponytail most all the time!!!  They get really skilled at using a sock top to make a bun out of their ponytail!!!  In my time, I had to braid my ponytail and clip it up with a plain gold clip.  I guess they don't do it that way anymore!!!!!!

    Jean,

I'd love to play tourist in your city again!!!  There are more places I'd like to go back and see, but with a wedding this year I guess it will have to wait!!!!

    Kathryn,

Will keep your daughter in my prayers that her time home for Easter happens!!

Hello Carrie!!!  Sounds like another cup of coffee?!?!?!!?

    Have a great day ladies!!!!

  • Oneofalot

Next time you will have to let me know when you are coming and I can be your personal tour guide. I love playing tourist. It was actually fun this time.
  • Donna-Amanda's mom

Blondie, hope you are feeling better soon.

Kathryn, Really hope you get to see your daughter for Easter.

Anna, Congrats on the upcoming wedding. Very exciting.

My daughter finally gets to board her ship today as it gets to see land for the first time since deployment. They are excited to see land and she is excited to see the ship. LOL

  • Anna

    Carrie,

    Congratulations to your daughter!!!!!

  • navyfam

Blondie-Sorry you have had a migraine...I have suffered from them and know how they feel.

  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.
  • kathryn56

Blondie, every one deserves a day off. Good for you!
  • kathryn56

Now I am very sad. Last night the petty officers in the hearing of many of the sailors said they were approving all family related leave for the weekend. Today at lunch the sailors were told that there would be no leave during phase 2 because the person speaking did not want to do the paperwork. This was the very tearful message left on my phone. I do realize there are probably parts of the story I do not know, but I am sad. No daughters for Easter. At least they will be together so I am trying to look on the bright side. Daughter's message said she may try to talk to the officer, but that might be a bad idea.
  • navyfam

Kathryn-I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter not being able to get leave for Easter.  You have a great attitude....will continue to pray and God does have a plan and you are right at least your daughters will be together...doesn't make it any easier though...I feel for you, one Mother to another.

Blondie-Good for you! Sometimes these doctors don't realize how hard their office people work and they take such advantage of their help! I'm sure you do an amazing job and go above and beyond the call of duty and you deserve a day off! Especially GOOD FRIDAY!

  • Anna

    Kathryn,

So sorry you won't be able to spend Easter with your daughter!!  I'm glad she will at least have her sister.  Not spending any holiday with our sailor is always hard!!

  • WandaG

Katheryn, sorry to hear about your daughter not getting leave for Easter :O(
  • WandaG

My daughter just went to the recruiter today and her body fat is down to 32%. I'm so proud of her. She's been working very hard at exercising and eating right. Last year she weighed over 200lbs and now she weighs 172.5. Yesterday she ran 1.5 miles in 14 mins. She and I are also planning to take part in the Weight Watchers 5K run in May. We already run 3 miles in our neighborhood. We keep pushing ourselves to see what else we're capable of doing.

The recruiter wants her to go to MEPS this Thursday for her physical. She is very excited! The only down fall is that she has to go back to MEPS again next week or the beginning of May to join the NAVY because they already have their quota for enrolling women. We're hoping more slots open up next week or very soon. So she will not be able to select her job till then :o( We were disappointed to hear that.
  • Oneofalot

    Good Morning to Everyone.

Sorry to hear that Blondie. What a horrible time you guys are having with weather out there.

  • kathryn56

Good morning all. Hope you have a good middle of the week.

Blondie, I hope your weather gets better. Where is spring?

I do understand that in the military my daughter does not have the freedom to come and go as before. I had way back in January figured that the girls would not be home for Easter since my middle daughter would stay with her sister (I do love that about them). For the last month, though, they have been told in A school that if they did well and phased up and the requests were in the guidelines they would be allowed leave this weekend (the rules say that in Phase 2 you are allowed overnight leave as long as you do not travel more than 400 miles). Daughter has busted her tail to do well (assistant class leader, 2nd highest gpa, 4th highest pfa). The night before the indication was still that family oriented leave would be granted. Then they were told that no phase 2 leave would be given because the cpo did not want to deal with the paperwork. And one of the guys was fussing that if he could not go to Ohio (way out of the 400 mile range) no one should be allowed to go. To my civilian mind, that is just mean. The other problem (mine, not the Navy's) is that my grandkids are really struggling right now. I think I mentioned that we are raising them. Their mother ran away 3 years ago so they have srious abandonment problems. She was calling them regularly but that has changed to less than once a week lately. We never told them their aunts (who are like their older siblings since the littles have aklways lived in our house) were coming but they assumed it, unknown to us. We had major ccrying yesterday. So please pray for my babies (okay they are 7 and 8) to find peace. And of course, the story continues. A different officer has said he will sit down with the other one and try to figure things out.  I have a problem with arbitrary, but I know I will have to learn to just let it go. I am glad y'all are here, though. I can't say anything that would upset my daughters more since they are already stressed.

I do realize that this is trivial compared to not seeing your child for years - I just thought there would be more time.

  • WandaG

Thank you for the kind words Blondie. My daughter also leaves me behind as well :o) She's gotten faster than me. I mainly run for endurance. She mostly focuses on her speed for bc and sometimes she will do endurance for the 5K in May.

Thanks again, I appreciate your support and kind words.

  • lindalav
