    H
I am looking for the mom of one of my son's friends. His friend is from Hollister CA.
Just wondering if you are in this group, would love to connect!
Hope all is well with everyone. :-)
  • ProudMomof4

I heard that there are so many guys in Great Lakes and there were only a limited number of spaces in San Diego. My son said he heard that not everyone was going in March. He said that the rollbacks from class 281 and the top scorers in 282 on the physical test were the only ones going for sure. He really wants to get to San Diego, so I hope this info is incorrect and they all get to go! Let me know what you all hear. Happy Friday!
  • ProudMomof4

My son arrived in S.D. today too! :-)
  • tinkerbell

OK, OK, I know I wrote something here last night and now it is gone! Did anybody else see it? I thought I was with your group, but maybe I am not!! Anyway, I am still here, but maybe just along for the ride!!!
  • pyrat

Hi everyone! I am new to this site; my son is in prebuds class 283. A year ago you wouldn't have even been able to convince me that my son would join the military at all, and now look...it has been an experience.
  • CherylB

Hi everyone! I haven't been here in awhile. Glad to see more action around here. I am excited for our boys but it makes me more nervous when I know what is ahead. Hope all stay safe and sound. I know there are a lot of injuries and it must be so hard for them.
    Have a great day all!
  • CherylB

NMMD I know! And add Fb and email and life...how do we do it...lol
We had great weather the last few days but today is rain and it might even snow. Better weather next week. I am so ready for the 70s I love that weather.
  • CherylB

YEPPERS!!! We are heading into town and I am anxious to see the river. The other day it was out of its banks.
  • CherylB

NMMD D is testing out April19th. When they leave exactly????? Like usual!
The river was down just a bit. It seems to go out of its banks quite a bit. It only gets worry some when it threatens to close the hwy. It doesn't affect me so much now that I don't work that way but that is the I go to shop. I can shop other directions with no problem though. My hubby wks the other way and daughter can stay at friends. In 1993 The flood here was devastating as it was in the St Louis area, many lost their homes and business'. I live on a hill so we would be ok. Just going anywhere would be really hard. Hopefully that never happens again!!
  • CherylB

NMMD D said again today the 19th and then they leave right after..within a day or two.
It is getting so real now. I mean really real!
He said he did really good on his mock test last week. Had really good times. Thankful for that:)
  • tinkerbell

I am reading Lone Survivor right now! LOL I think what kind of moms we are! Having to know everything! That is so funny!
  • CherylB

I am reading Warrior Elite right now. It will take me forever though. Next is The Finishing School and then Lone Survivor. I also have The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday. I do like to know what they will be going through. We watched all the DVDs from Class??? sorry can't remember. I would sit here and say "and you WANT to do this!!??" The more we watched the more excited he got! Crazy kid...I mean young man! LOL
  • CherylB

    Angie your son sounds awesome
We will have to talk NMMD but it will be awhile for me. I seem to only get to read hear and there.
Talked to D tonight and testing has been moved the 26th. Well that gives me another week!!
  • tinkerbell

Ha ha! Don't you guys look at the forecasts? It was coming in from the north! I saw that when I was in San Francisco. LOL! Anyway, I am back now. We got 4th place. The kids just fell apart. (water polo tournament) They swam like they had lead in their speedos! Oh, well! We had a good time and I got to see my brother and nephew!
  • CherylB

HI Ellen Sorry about son but welcome here! You mentioned Role Coaster...have you seen the group RollerCoaster? We have a lot of fun there and there is a lot of support. All positive. Come on over and visit us!!
  • CherylB

HI everyone. I have not been on in so long. I visited GL this weekend and got to meet some of my sons friends. Just wanted to let their moms know how great they were. They all were so polite and shook our hands and were so pleasant. Since I can't say names I will just put the letter of last name and if you think it might be your son just contact me. So here is goes: F(use to wk on motorcycles), J, R, F (use to play college baseball),P(Russian)and I think that is it. What a great group of Sailors!!! I am so proud of them all!!
  • tinkerbell

We've got a cold front coming in! From Alaska, it is supposed to rain and have thunder storms tonight and tomorrow! So much for the warmed up water, grandpa! But at least you know it can warm up in 36 hours!!
  • tinkerbell

I think it shouldn't rain during hell week! Those boats are heavy enough. I wouldn't want to carry them with them filling with water! Prior to is OK. We dry out around here pretty quickly.
  • CherylB

Hi all. I have noticed that D has not been calling as much. I really just thought it was because he talks to his gf so much and every time I go to tell him something he already knows about it! I just keep sending him and his buddy encouraging texts.
I am sure glad I have you all here and the RollerCoaster to get me through this. I have dealt with this pretty well so far but now it is getting harder. I am also worried about injury. Keeping positive thoughts for all!
    HooYah 283!!
  • CherylB

HOOYAH for C!!! Do yo know what group he is in?
  • CherylB

Ok now I am really anxious! I hate waiting...my future looks like I better find a form of exercise my body can handle (so I don't injure it more LOL) to keep my mind off things. Hey this could be a good thing....right??!!! LOL
  • CherylB

    Well said CrazyMom!
D passed!! Now on with my day! LOL
  • tinkerbell

Congratulations! SD here they come! I am so excited for you all! And especially the boys! Now they can see BUDS training! Hoorah class 283!
  • CherylB

    Thanks Tink and Ken!
  • CherylB

Hi Illi what team was he on do you know?
  • CherylB

Good Morning. From what D told me The first two weeks they will get assigned to whatever it is they get assigned to...lol...and they are eased into everything they are going to be doing after the 2 weeks. I know I am not making myself very clear. Sorry. In other words. They are not just thrown into the IBS drills and obstacle course...etc... I was happy to hear that. Hope this helped I am sure someone else will make it more clear.
  • tinkerbell

Yes, I'm watching, too! Unfortunately, my husband said the water has gotten "freakishly cold". (57 degrees) He surfs. Let's just pray that a pod of whales comes and relieves themselves (I know this sounds gross, but i am sure the boys won't mind) for class 282 to warm them up! (Oh, oh! My sense of humor has gotten bad, and my son isn't leaving GL, yet!)
  • CherylB

Just got a call. They are doing good. Going out looking for food. He is watching 282 do surf passes and they are down to about 30 guys. He was really upset that a lot of his buddies had quit. When he talked to one he said he was just cold and tired and now regrets it. I hope that actually talking to this guy makes him think when he is really cold and tired and wants to DOR. Good luck to you all. It has been a ruff day for me. Can't believe there hasn't been more action on here. I am a happy momma now:)
  • CherylB

Thanks Ellen. I have told him that if he wants to ring the bell just keep telling himself one more day..then if the next day he feels the same just tell him self one more day! I know him and he is strong but I have heard that before about them not remembering ringing the bell. That is so sad. These are incredible young men we have here ladies. To me it doesn't matter what they do they are incredible...as are all men and women who serve our country!
Sounds like we thing a lot alike Ellen! And isn't it hard to not be in control of our babies anymore!!! LOL
  • CherylB

Talked to D today. He has had a bad headache for 2 days. Says he can't take anything for it. Big bummer there. He inherited my migraines poor guy.
I guess their "fun" is about to begin. Good luck 283 and families!!
  • ProudMomof4

I don't think ibuprofen and tylenol are allowed. :-( The migraine will eventually go away, tell him to hang in there! Yes, good luck to everyone.
  • CherylB

HI. No meds what so ever. That just isn't right if it is a migraine. Mine have put me in the hospital several times and have lasted for 2 weeks before. He did say that it was getting better. Thanks for all thoughts!
  • CherylB

Illi, let me know when you would like to get together for a bite to eat! I can meet you in St. Louis.
  • tinkerbell

Hooyah class 283! Let the "fun" begin!!

Dawni, hurry up with those finals!! I am ready for a "road trip"
  • CherylB

HI everyone. I am reading Warrior Elite. Have been for awhile and never have time to read. Figured now is the best time or D will be through it before I know what is going on. LOL
Punko loved your stories! What a family you have! Sounds like a lot of fun.....and stress. haha
    Have a great day everyone.
  • ProudMomof4

My son was in 282, and went through indoc once already. He is now part of 283. Said the 1st 3 weeks (indoc) weren't too bad. I have my fingers crossed for all of them!
I am a teacher in Northern CA and the school year is winding down, thank goodness. I have three other kids at home who miss their big brother! We all went to San Diego the weekend after Easter, and had a short but sweet visit.
  • tinkerbell

Good book, NMMD! I could not put it down! I was reading it and I kept saying, "How does he get out of this?" I had to keep reminding myself, "You know he does because he wrote the book!" LOL I was looking at some youtubes of Marcus when he did some motivational speeches this morning. He's a funny guy!
  • tinkerbell

Thanks Illinois mom! I have had a busy day and am just checking back in! Happy Birthday to your daughter!
  • Loblolly

Greetings to all. Took while to find this site. We were getting desperate for information on what was going on. Our son is also in 283. I got a call on Mother's Day and was glad to hear his voice after so many weeks of not calling. He used to call once a week when he was in GL (851), but that tapered off when he was in prep training following graduation from RTC. He told us not to expect any news for long periods of time, so we are prepared for that. Hooyah!
  • Loblolly

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies. Yes, R has a cell phone and I call and leave messages, but he doesn't call back very often. He's more responsive when my husband calls. Must be a guy thing. I'm just starting to read "Warrior Elite". Great book! Wish I had more time to devote to reading and digesting the whole process involved with the training. Hooyah!
  • CherylB

landlocked all I can say is DITTO. Sounds to me you have one great and smart son! Good luck to him and your whole family.
  • CherylB

Have a great weekend Crazy mom. I have talked to D more the past couple of weeks than I did before. He calls to let me what they are doing and how he did at it. So far so good for him. He has passed everything and read for the rest of the week With the holiday next week they have to fit more in than usual and it will be a hard week with 2 very long days....basically one really long day!! He is a little sad that his closest buddies have been med rolled but he is still in really good spirits. Ok I think everything I put in here is ok. No names no dates nothing specific. Have a great night....and day..
  • CherylB

Illi D said he was doing the same thing. Wax on Wax off. He said he saw a guy he knows in class 281 and he was wearing a different colored helmet. He was telling me the different colors and what the guy was wearing and can't wait to get to that point. It is so nice to hear him excited and looking forward to the future. I know it hasn't been easy but it is good to hear he is handling it all in stride. He is suppose to call me or txt me how he did on his timings today. It makes it so much easier on me knowing how he has done everyday. Did you get my pm? We need to meet for lunch or dinner soon. Have a great day all and hope all your sons are doing great.
  • CherylB

Good news for mine. He and 3 others were pulled back in and classed up with 283!! He is very excited and happy. Wonder why they rolled them back and then classed them up. He didn't miss a thing. That is good.
  • CherylB

I agree with you there ellen! Now that he is back at it the nerves are kicking in. Good luck to all our sons!!!
  • Loblolly
