Well girls, I will try my best to give you a few things that I know ... after graduation there is indeed language school. It is held right there in San Diego I believe.  They won't all be given the same language to learn, we thought it was somewhat based on where they would be headed on eventual deployment... but that turned out not to be the case. After language school, those that are SOCOM will head to that school, which is on the East Coast. My W. who was not going to SOCOM school, then started on more intense training... he went to many different places in different parts of the country. Lots and lots of training. PLEASE feel free to private message me.. and I can give you more details on all the training.

SWCC'em, you  are right, they all have worked so hard! It is truly great to see them all standing tall and proud, getting pinned. You will love the experience!

God Bless all our W's and all our veterans, past and present:)

  • annie

Thank you so much for the additional info.  I knew a little about the language school as my "W" was recently tested to see where his strengths were in terms of languages but did not realize there was still more intense training yet to come.

And yes, God Bless all our W's and veterans~I support them!  Thank you!

  • SWCC'Em

Just wanted to tell you all that I hope you have a wonderful holiday and that all and whom you love and hold close to your hearts find themselves safe, healthy and happy.

    Merry Christmas!

  • Winski

Hello, I am new to this site. My son leaves for bootcamp in Feb. I know that many men don't make the training in Coronado. I'm assuming most DOR. What happens to those guys? Do they go home or are they placed somewhere else in the Navy? Thanks for any information you can give!
  • pamom

Hi Winski, Welcome! Good Luck to your son in bootcamp! You are right, there is a high percentage that DOR during SWCC training, if that happens, they might be given a choice of other rates available, but sometimes they are not given a choice..( depends on the needs of the Navy, I believe). and they will go directly to the fleet, sometimes as undesignated. Hope this helps :)

Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone!!

  • Winski

Thanks pamom, that does help. My son originally signed on as master at arms (I think that is the correct term). He thinks that is he doesn't make swcc he will be allowed to re-sign for that job. I didn't think that sounded right, because what if that job wasn't available? I will tell him this information. He is anxious to go and get started! I'm praying he does well and makes it all the way through.
  • kelly67

Hi Winski,  Best of Luck to your son in boot camp & beyond!  We are all here for support if you need us!

Hope you all have a Happy Healthy 2013!

  • D'sMum35

If they don't make SWCC, they can usually reapply again after two years. But, let's think positive. This journey is best taken one moment at a time.
  • sheryl Navy 2

Win ski you need to be as. Focused and positive as if it was you doing this navy journey . I am thoroughly enjoying my son home this week ,it's been a year and boy has he changed . Encourage your son through BC like you are his personal cheerleader .
Good luck to you and your son
  • Winski

Thank you everybody. I definitely support him and keep my worries to myself ( well at least mostly). I am just trying to enjoy these last 6 weeks. Sheryl navy 2 I'm so glad your son is with you right now, a great Christmas gift!
  • Laura

Hey! My SR graduates feb 1 from BT and he is SWCC does anyone know how long he will be at GL before he heads to Coronado? His recruiter said 6 weeks i was just curious??!!
  • kelly67

Hi Laura,  Congrats on your SR's upcoming graduation from GL!   My son was in GL for 2 1/2 wks after graduation before heading to Coronado.  It is all dependent on when the next SWCC training class is ready for his group to start.

  • kelly67

Laura,  I would recommend reading the SWCC PRIMER which is a link above here in the discussion section...it was written by a SWCC Dad & has alot of great info about SWCC training in it.

  • Laura

Kelly, okay thanks! We were not sure how long he'd be there. My brother went for seal and graduated BT in may. He stayed 8 weeks so I wasn't sure how long my fiancé would be there. I've heard alot changed and they wanted SWCC to start staying the full 8 weeks for bud/s prep too but I wasn't sure and have only gotten one letter from him so far since he's been gone! Thanks for your help!
  • Another Navy Mom

Happy New Years to all the SWCC families out there! We were lucky enough to have our "W" home for Christmas and it was definately wonderful seeing the changes in him over the past year. We are looking forward to swing him get the "Pin" that he has earned in a few weeks, which leads me to my next question: does anyone have any advice, or general information for us parents of what to expect at the SWCC graduation ceremony? Perhaps what clothing for us to wear? We still haven't received formal invitations yet.. Are there formal invitations? Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated! AND LASTLY... CONGRATULATIONS TO SWCC #72 and all their families! We can't wait to meet you soon!!
  • Another Navy Mom

Btw... I was told by my "W" that all SWCC who are in bootcamp now will do pre/buds at GL with the seals. I hope this helps :)
  • kelly67

Happy New Year Everyone!   We also felt very fortunate to have both our "W" & our younger son home for Christmas again this year!

Travis, Great to see you!   We know you'll always check in with us every now & then...you helped alot of us get through the long tough weeks of BCT & CQT awhile ago & for that I am still truly grateful!  Take Care!

  • kelly67

Stacy,  Congratulations on SWCC Class 72 upcoming graduation!  It truly will be a wonderful experience for all of you!  There are formal invitations & I remember that coming about 3wks before the grad date.  They have changed a few things since our "W" graduated with class 67...maybe there are others out there from class 68-71 that can fill you in on what they experienced, but I believe the ceremony is still the same.  There really is no "dress code" but I would suggest a business casual type of attire...I'm sure you'll be taking lots of pictures :)    Enjoy & have fun while your out in Coronado/San Diego, there is so much to see & do!

  • Winski

Stacy I was told the same thing about "after" boot camp.  My son leaves for BC Feb. 12.  He is being told after graduating there he will go directly "across the street" to Buds training for 10 weeks.  Then he will go to Coronado.  The only thing he is unsure about is if he will get any leave in between those times.  He said he is going to ask his recruiter today about that.

  • TXBirdie

My BF is about to start BCT next week, Is there any one else on here who has some one about to start BCT as well???

  • SWCC'Em

Stacy: Heard from my "W" that invites for class 72 were mailed out late last week; so hopefully those that should be getting them, will be getting them pretty soon!

Winski, from my "W's experience,  there was no real 'leave' between GL and CA (liberty consisted of traveling from GL to CA, INDOC type stuff, lots and lots of cleaning). I think they ended up having about 12 hours total where they weren't doing something. This could have (or be) changed with the integration of 'service lines.'

  • sheryl Navy 2

I remember you also! Glad to see you are still with us!
  • sheryl Navy 2

Thank you Amber . It's been a fun ride the past 3 yrs with our youngest then this ,our eldest son. It will be so good to see him in his new "home" with his buddies ,a lot from back here in New England .
But slight query does anyone have any information , or formal invite /letter for graduations his week ? Our W has told us general arrangements but no times gates or anything ! If anyone has details can you pm me .
    Thank you
    Congratulations to Class 72 :)
  • Another Navy Mom

    Good Morning!

My SWCC 72 invitation finally arrived on Saturday!  Better late than never!!  You can message me for details!  Whew!! Now I don't have to harrass the gate guards (hehehe)  No seriously, I was told by my "W", that the gate guards, do have our info and we are on a list, even if we didn't physically receive the invitations.  Anyway, I can hardly wait... it's almost time!!!

  • Another Navy Mom

    Hi Louise,

You did and Thank you for your information as it was greatly appreciated.  The invitation just has more specific information regarding exact time of the ceremony and where to park, etc.  It has nothing regarding the dinner the day before, or what clothing to wear.  It also mentioned a meeting for wives and families prior to the ceremony (although as a mom, I don't think that applies to me, specifically, so we were planning on skipping that).

My personal motto in life is: Sharing is caring, and I have tried to instill that in all my children throughout their lives (not always successfully lol)... but having this portal of information has been such a wealth of knowledge that I have been truly grateful for!  Thank you everyone for helping us along this journey!  It has been such a blessing and pleasure to be part of this wonderful community!!!

  • pamom

ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!!!  It is one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. Soooo much admiration, and pride I have for my W and ALL these young men who have worked so hard, never giving up... to be able to stand tall at graduation and receive their SWCC pin.  Really amazing:)

Amber, welcome back:) Your baby is beautiful. Your husband has what it takes, and knows what is to come. He will be just fine. I really can't believe it's been 2 yrs already!

    Have a great day everyone!

  • amber1321

I think I need to change my picture. That little baby in the picture is now 4yrs old and my baby I was having during the swcc training is now almost 2 time sure does fly
  • pamom

Well she is still adorable Amber :) As I'm sure your 2 yr old is as well!!

  • Blackcrow

I have a question regarding graduation:  What is generally the length of time from actual CQT completion to the graduation ceremony?

  • Trixiebell

Congratulations W's on getting this far on your journey, your hard work has finally paid off.  After all the struggle and sacrifices, you have finally reached the pinnacle. Wishing you the best for the future.

    HOOYAH......

    Congratulations SWCC class 72!

  • SWCC'Em

It was as so nice to meet the young men I've heard so many good things about at the command dinner and the graduation ceremony! What a great group of young men-- I was so impressed with each and every one.

I have to say though, the command dinner was phenomenal!!! :D

  • Blackcrow

I will post my question again, since there has to be many from class 72 who can answer.  What is the length of time between CQT completion and the actual graduation date?  Would like to know for future planning to take the trip out for graduation.

  • Another Navy Mom

    Hi Blackcrow,

According to the sealswcc.com website, CQT is 20 weeks long.  Class 72 was probably that, but they had christmas break to contend with so it was spread out a little bit.  Hope this helps!

  • Another Navy Mom

Graduation was phenonemal and I felt blessed to be in the pressence of such honorable men and their families.  It was a special morning that's for sure!  I wish I could have met each and every one of the men that stood beside my son,but it just didn't work out that way.  I hope there will be future opportunities to meet these fine men and their families.

  • Another Navy Mom

Help!  I have a question to past classes.  Did anyone have a problem with their son's contract being fulfilled in regards to their automatic advancement from E-2 to E-4 after completion of the SWCC school?  There are two members, my son being one of them, who just graduated as SB3's, and have signed contracts, yet the civilian personal on their base are stating they have to be E-3's for 9 months first before they can advance to E-4.  Has anyone experienced this before?  This doesn't seem right!
